Where do I start? We have been coming to Kings for years and have always loved it. We drove from Murrells Inlet tonight, expressly to eat at Kings again. What a HUGE disappointment. What the heck have you done to the pizza? Is there a new owner? The pizza is nothing like it used to be. It went from very tasty NY style, with great flavor, to whatever tonight's was. It is not NY style at all, not sure what style that is. The flavor is very strange now. It's like mediocre frozen pizza taste, but with a strange (not pleasant) twist. It almost had a chemical taste to it. The pepperoni was very stiff and not well cooked. I immediately thought there must be new owner or mgmt, but then I thought I saw who I believed to be the long time owner. Whatever the case, someone better fix the pizza or Kings will not last long. The waiter stated that the chicken philly wa new to the menu. My wife ordered it and it was not only weird, but ridiculously expensive. The chickn was sliced, the peppers were barely cooked and the cheese was barely melted and just laying on the sliced chicken. The sandwich was $11 and came on a plate by itself. No fries of chips, nothing. I know they sell fries by the basket, but geez, $11 for a bad chicken Philly is crazy. I doubt we will ever go back, after all these years. It was almost $80 for a 10" pizza, sandwich, Alfredo, 6 cheese sticks (who does 6 cheese sticks for $9.00) and a basket of fries. What a HUGE...
Read moreOverall I would rate them a 2 out of 5 stars. Our waitress was awesome, courteous and friendly. The overall atmosphere was much like going to an IHOP or a Pizza Hut. Food was not famous like their name says. We ordered a small Pizza, Veal parmigiana and side of meatballs. Pizza was a 2 out of 10. Cheese did not taste nor resemble mozzarella cheese. The crust was okay. Our pizza was mushrooms and salami. The veal parmigiana was very tough, fried way too long and way too thin. The spaghetti that came with it had no taste. The mozzarella did taste like mozzarella, funny they didn’t use the same for their pizza. The meatballs, 3 to be exact, were okay 5/10. My entree came with a small salad that was just right. Their house dressing was great and by far the best thing we ate was their salad. We had their homemade cheesecake as dessert which was good 5/10. Overall I would say that no matter how hard I try to say that our meal was great I just can’t make myself say so. Would I return? No would not. Is it a great place for family with small children? Yes it’s very cafeteria like and welcoming. Pizza is not the best I would recommend Mellow Mushroom which I don’t like, but their pizza tasted like pizza. So Kings Famous Pizza is a no if you want Pizza a yes if you want to take a bunch of people to discuss...
Read moreDisappointed all around. High reviews on here were not true to our taste buds. The Hawaiian pizza was terrible in all points. From the crust to the toppings everything tasted as if it was a frozen pizza half cooked in an oven. The pineapple was so sweet as if it just got stopped out of a can in heavy syrup. The ham was certainly diced, prepackaged from a vendor. I'm not even sure what style pizza they were going for because the crust was a Frankenstein of a crust.
The spaghetti and meatballs was almost as bad as the pizza. The meat sauce and meatballs had a strange, over seasoned taste to them. It was a lot for the price but the seasoning was not portioned right for us. We had to request the meatballs because they forgot to put them on the plate. I almost wished we didn't but my son found some enjoyment in them.
The tea was from the tap so it was fake and awful. If your tea is from something resembling a coke dispenser then it's not tea.
Our server started great and stayed good throughout the service. Towards the end she got about 6-7 total tables so she was getting busy. Held her own though. Best part of trip was getting a reliable server.
Definitely not a return trip for this place. Fast food pizza was...
