Sky Bar — Restaurant in North Myrtle Beach

I'm a local and I've been to the Sky Bar a few times. I wouldn't necessarily say "I'm a regular", but I have gone on special occasions. We visited after my class reunion, had some girl's nights there, that sort of thing...Last night, my husband and I went and was turned away at the door. The security guard said "no one with a Longs (29568) address was allowed. Initially, I thought he was joking, but he wasn't. My husband grabbed my arm and we quickly exited the line. I understand there's some areas in this zip code that doesn't have the best reputation, but that can be said about any area code. To discriminate against a zip code is wild. Believe it or not, this zip code has more self respecting, hard working, law abiding citizens than you think; two of them being my husband and myself. We took our hard earned money and went down the street to Molly Darcy's and a few other local establishments instead. You, Mr Sky Bar owner will never get another cent from me and hopefully not from anyone else that I tell this story to... and I do know people outside of 29568. Maybe it'll make a difference or maybe it won't, but I just hope it's enough for you to realize how ridiculous this "rule"is that you...

Went to NMB for a week trip last year and me and my family members went to this bar every night and never had a cover charge. I show up last(Wednesday)night with a party of 10 only to be told that there was a 10$$$ cover????... that's 100$ before we even get in this dive bar need less to say we couldn't fathom paying this once much less all week. We also had 2 friends that got there before us and it was 3$ cover for them but apparently that was because they were locals? Not sure if the bouncer was just going to pocket the money or what but we were just looking for a place to have a few drinks after dinner and this is obviously not the place for that. I would spend my money elsewhere unless you like getting hustled by bouncers or getting treated like you're a second class citizen because you're not a local in a place that 90% of the population are tourists???? Cant imagine this place will stay open long with that...

We decided to check this place out tonight and were extremely disappointed. We ordered two double Malibu with pineapple, and the total came to $55—with no explanation, no breakdown, nothing. We paid without making a fuss, but we will absolutely never return.

To make matters worse, the drinks came in 8-ounce cups—not even standard 16-ounce size—which made the price even more outrageous. There was no live entertainment, no special event, nothing that would justify that kind of markup.

But honestly, the worst part was the level of disrespect we encountered at the entrance. The security staff was rude and dismissive from the moment we walked up. We’re nearly 50 years old and were completely floored by the attitude and tone they used. It felt more like a TSA checkpoint than a night out—should’ve asked if they offered PreCheck!
