Today I had the probably worst pizza of my life. After having take-out pizza for months, we had planned to have a good pizza in a nice sit-down place. We ended up at BJ’s and ordered the large deep dish peperoni extreme pizza. What a disappointment. We arrived shortly after 4pm to avoid the weekend dinner crowd, there were only very few patrons sitting, but not only did it seem forever until our order arrived at the table, it was the worst pizza I had in my entire life. It looked pretty good at first, but when we started eating, we noticed that there was absolutely no tomato sauce and very little cheese on that pizza. The julienned peperoni were extremely spicy and other than that there were very few slices of regular peperoni on that pizza. We asked our otherwise very friendly waitress if she could check if they forgot the tomato sauce or if that’s the way it is supposed to be. She apologized and offered us a dish with tomato sauce, which didn’t make the pizza more enjoyable. She then offered us dessert of our choice on the house, assuming that would mean one dessert per person, we ordered two of their pizzookies. We were even more surprised when we got the check and noticed that our pizza was $35.25, and she charged us $8.25 for one of the desserts, only one was free. BJ’s can’t even suck up the price for two desserts? Well, as I always say: you are happy, you tell a few, you are unhappy you tell the world. Which we will do. Not only is pizza very much overpriced wherever you go, but if it is nearly inedible and you choke on it because it is bone dry but charging $35 and don’t even give the customers each a free dessert, that is absolutely unacceptable. The attached photo should speak for itself, those are three half slices, bone dry, no sauce, no cheese.
Update as of June 9th, 2024: Thank you to Headquarters for providing us with a Courtesy Card to make up for the failure the week before. We have used it last night. My husband had a cup of chili, salad, burger and a pizzookie. I had the prime rib dinner.
Not only did our waitress not understand that people usually eat soup and salad before the main meal, everything came at the same time, although we had mentioned when we ordered to not bring the main meal to soon after the salad. She took the burger and the prime rib back, which was not redone, but most likely kept under some warming light. That is absolutely unprofessional, especially for medium/rare meat like a prime rib.
My husband seems to be ok this morning, while I am sick like a dog with the worst Montezuma's revenge anyone can even imagine. I have nothing else to blame that I had eaten that day, and there was an issue with the meat anyways, but I just did not feel to complain again. The texture of the meat did not seem to be good quality, it was nearly impossible to cut in bite size pieces, and I left more than half of it one the plate. Thank you again, for your attempt to make up, but we are now done with your...
Read moreThis is one of the most dysfunctional BJ’s I have ever been to, and today the behavior of one of the managers likely confirms I will not return. Today is Monday and I had my wife meet me after work and pack up the 3 kids to meet me for the Monday pizza special which they choose to advertise. We finally get situated and order a large pizza and server has to check and they are out of large deep dish pizza. Stuff happens no big deal and ask the server to check with manager on what can be substituted which would have been fine, however the manager just says no and it’s half price night. I let him know the situation and reminded him this is BJ’s problem not ours, but he expected us to just pay more because BJ’s is having a dough issue and ran out of their daily special item. I told him we were leaving and he literally could not have cared less and said sorry to which I told him he wasn’t or he wouldn’t have wasted our time. What frustrated us even more is when we are leaving the manager Kirk who was unwilling to do anything to make this right watched me walk by and didn’t say a word but he decided to wait until my wife was walking by to say sarcastically “have a great night”, clearly he intended to be rude and sarcastic but wasn’t brave enough to say it to me. I realize you likely don’t make money on half price pizza night but your choice to advertise this not mine, what it really costs you is all the business you lose from a family who primarily eats at your restaurant on regular nights with no specials involved. Funnier part is we intended to pay with a courtesy card a manager gave us for our prior bad experience when we selected curbside pick up and I had to wait outside for 25 minutes then go in even though I left a tip for someone to walk my order out to my car. What seemed like should be a pretty easy solution to come to ended up being one of the worst experiences ever. Hate coming to this location even though the actual food itself is typically good if you can get past the bad service and unprofessional behavior from the manager Kirk who’s looking to be a jerk to a mother in front of her kids. Too many other places you can spend $80-$100 (or much less) to feed a...
Read moreSo picture this: Seven people (3 adults and 4 young children) go into the restaurant about 8:30pm, only a few people at the bar and the restaurant ¼ full, nice front podium greeting, two tables put together in the middle of the dining room. Then we waited. 20 minutes before a server showed up saying “I’m so sorry. They didn’t tell me this was my table.” We order drinks. Kids drinks come in 42-ounce fast food types of cups. Interesting for 3 and 4 year olds to handle. We order appetizers, arrived in about 15 minutes. Ordered main entrees at this time. For one adult, tough time. First steak ordered: Out of stock. Second steak ordered: Out of stock. Finally third in stock. Long time waiting for main entrees. When they arrived: One child’s meal did not come out: “Someone else took your hamburger so they are remaking your meal.” Another child’s meal was incorrect. Ribeye steak was far more char than taste, I could do far better on a backyard grill. Child’s hamburger came out when two adults were almost finished eating. Server apologized saying, “I’m not supposed to do this but I will bring out free ice cream for the kids.” Mid-meal some of the staff stepped outside for 10-15 minutes to watch fireworks. Mid-meal two servers sat down in a booth to calculate something with receipts, maybe tips? Was there a supervisor or manager there? Maybe. Someone wearing a red shirt came out a few times, would walk to kitchen come out quickly, walk to front podium and walk away quickly. Never walked to a table, never made eye contact with customers, never approached a table. Service: Poor Food: Poor Restaurant management: Less than poor. If you care, someone should go in from BJ’s Restaurants, be an undercover diner, order several items, after the meals come out with issues, STOP the entire restaurant, close it immediately, fire the supervisor, fire most of staff and cooks, and set the standards to be met. Our expectations were not unusually high, just normal. Service, response to orders, and some of food, significantly below...
