I must start by saying I very rarely leave reviews unless my experience is outrageously good or bad. Unfortunately for North End, this was one of the strangest and most disappointing experiences I've had at a restaurant in years.
If you find yourself on the beach with your family and see an advertisement from an airplane for North End happy hour ($1 oysters and $1 chicken wings), do NOT make the same mistake my family did. Stay away! Avoid! Do not go!
My family very naively went to North End expecting to enjoy their seemingly too-good-to-be-true happy hour experience. $1 oysters and $1 wings with family, drinks, and good music - count us in!
Unfortunately, when we arrived, we learned that the restaurant was out of both oysters and wings... major bummer. But wait, what was that? Out of the corner of my eye I see the table behind us being served 2 dozen oysters! How was this possible?
After complaining to numerous staff members, we were pleased to learn that they miraculously found wings and two dozen oysters for us. Some might call it a 4th of July week miracle, or was it?
Folks, this place suffers from what I'd like to call bad business. They bring you in with the idea of a great deal, but ultimately plan to let you down with the same exact happy hour food that is conveniently unavailable. Didn't stay long enough, but would love to learn if the additional shipment of oysters came in at 6:01pm when happy hour ended.
Think this is a conspiracy? Don't ask me. Let's ask the couple at the table next to us for their input-
According to them, this was their third and final strike at North End.. and I can't say I blame them when they were told by their waitress that there were no more oysters, while the other waitress was serving my family 2 dozen! Sounds eerily like the same experience as my family, only we complained enough to be served the food that was advertised.
But at least the atmosphere was good, right? Wrong. Literally as I type this, a mysterious liquid is dripping from the ceiling onto my sister's leg. To make matters worse, periodically there is a high pitched ringing sound that is deafening and negatively impacting our conversations.
Overall, it is absolutely astonishing that a place like this is still open in 2023. This is a classic case of subpar food and bad business. From one Google friend to another, please take my sincere advice and do not bring your family here. There are many better places in Wildwood to spend your time.
I encourage you all to read the various Yelp and Google responses from management apologizing and promising to work towards making the restaurant better - how much longer should you believe that they will start making the necessary adjustments?
One thing is for sure, they've lost my family's...
Read moreWe went to North End mainly based on hearing that they started “Buck a Shuck” oysters. We had heard that the restaurant was struggling so they started the $1.00 oysters. We asked about the Margaritas and our server said that they were very good, so we each ordered one (party of three). We waited over 15 minutes for the drinks, which our server apologized for. She said the bar was extremely busy. Please keep in mind it was a Tuesday night, so I would hate to see what a weekend night would be. We placed our food order which consisted of two orders of a dozen oysters, and an order of nachos. My wife order a flat bread pizza for dinner, but said to bring out the nachos with the Oysters. I explained to,the waitress that my daughter and I would probably order more food because we both wanted to sample the oysters. After ordering the food we tasted the Margaritas and we just looked at one another. We will give the bartender the benefit of the doubt, that she did put in some Tequila in the glasses. Essentially, if you like like Citrus Lime gatorade, you are going to love the North End Margaritas. My wife’s nachos finally arrived, along with her flatbread pizza. When our server swung by to check on us, we said we would like to order more oysters, only to be told they were out of them. So much for a night of oysters. We switched over to chicken wings that were actually pretty good. When we ordered the wings, ordered a Tito’s and tonic. You guessed it, there was another long wait for my very simple vodka and tonic. I walked over to the bar to see what the hold up was and it was not even half full. When I finally got my cocktail, it was Tito’s and club soda. I had to wait for my waitress to return to have it corrected. Needless to say we were back on the clock. One would think that when a mistake was made, you would get some priority. By the way, the pepperoni i flat bread tasted like a frozen Elio’s pizza. Overall, it was a pretty disappointing night, and if the rumors we heard about the restaurant struggling, we can...
Read moreRecently on our vacation to North Wildwood we decided to go to the North End restaurant one night because we had a large group of people and saw that they had accommodations for us in their outdoor area. We ordered our drinks and that's where it started. The waitress repeatedly came out to our table and stated that they didn't have certain beverages and that seemed like they were out of everything. Same results with the food that we tried to order, apparently out of everything. The food that was served was also subpar. Wings were mushy when ordered crispy, crab sandwich was full of tiny bits of shells, flatbread was under cooked, chicken on it and the Caesar wrap was pressed chicken, and the nachos were all stuck together with melted hard cheese. One person kept asking for ranch dressing and we saw the waitress going back into the restaurant, sitting down and getting on her phone. I don't think she realized that we could see her through the window. Finally after the third request she brought the dressing out. A few of the dinners came late to our table and the waitress said there's was a mix up! I thought how could there be a mix up when we were one of only two tables there. So if anyone is thinking of going there while on vacation, think again, we learned an expensive lesson on how a restaurant...
