Potbelly — Restaurant in Northfield Township

Server threatened to call the Police on me JUST for asking why was taking so long… My family and I LOVE Potbelly! We are very frequent diners at this location for over 15 years, never ever had a problem or issue of any sort... Until today, Saturday August 20, 2022 at 1:20 PM!

Restaurant not that busy (11 people in line), but was taking forever to move on, and after 18+ minutes I placed my order with a very efficient preparer, I dare to politely ask the server after the oven, why was taking so long; the server stared at me with his eyes wide open and, instead to answer with a simple apology or any sort of excuse, he told me: "if you like you can leave! There is the door!" Astonished (but still politely) I replied, "yes I will because I don’t want a cold sandwich, but first I want your name", he refused and then when I asked to talk to the manager, he introduced himself as "The Manager" and then he threatened me to call the police on me if I was not leaving, and immediately he ran out from his station, to show me the way out! I have NEVER experienced anything like this in my life, especially in the wonderful and family oriented Glen Town Center where we live! Just had the worst service ever from the lazy guy with dreads! First when I came up he was sitting at his phone, when I asked him if I can order a sandwich he looked at me as if we’re not standing inside Potbelly’s.

After I told him what kind of sandwich I wanted he proceeded to ask me over and over again as if I wasn’t clear the first time around. Once the sandwich came out I told him the toppings I wanted with easy mustard. He put a bunch of mustard on and again asked me two other times what I wanted while pulling his phone out of his back packet with gloves on!

After confirming three times he still proceeded to put even more mustard on top! After stopping him and telling him that he got the order wrong because he is not paying any attention his hostile response was “Don’t talk to me like that I’m a grown man”. He continued that he’s 30 years old and for someone of that age in the service field he lacks all attention to detail and is immature when it comes to treating customers with respect!l. I ordered a chicken salad sandwich online yesterday 9/17/2023. The pick up time was 7:57pm. I arrived around 8pm and asked for picking up. But the server, a high school boy, said that my order just came up. I saw that he tore my order paper from a order machine. So, I said that I put my order 15 minutes ago, but he said my order just came up. I am not sure if he lied to me. Because the order paper was already out before he said 'Hi' to me. A high school server was only one in the restaurant until a man came out from the kitchen. But I felt sorry for the boy making my sandwich on late Sunday night. So, I gave him some tips. I brought my sandwich and gave it to my son. But my son wondered where are chicken in the sandwich. He thought some chicken would be in the middle of the sandwich.
