Baci Italian Deli — Restaurant in Norwalk

NOT ITALIAN, NOT NICE

I wanted to grab a sandwich to eat in the car in between errands. Google showed Baci Italian Deli which sounded perfect. I walked in to find it was a Spanish/Latin food place with some lunchmeats. The woman behind the counter started stirring the rice and showing the empanadas, which looked fine but isn't great car food. I was polite and smiling, but said it wasn't what I was expecting and turned to leave. That's when the cranky old guy at the register started yelling at me "What's the matter, you don't like Spanish food?", and the woman was shaking her head in disgust. The man's angry voice followed me out the door. It was a shocking display - a "what the heck just happened?" moment.

For the record, I've traveled extensively in Central and South America, love the food and could have become a regular customer. But not after...

We had a delicious meal today at Baci Italian Deli in Norwalk. They make wonderful empanadas as well as other homemade reasonably priced sandwiches. We watched as the owner served huge plates of rice with tender chicken on top to customers waiting at comfortable tables in this special one of a kind deli with a relaxed informal atmosphere. Pleasant conversation filled the deli as we ate our delicious food feeling happy for the time we spent in this adorable roadside restaurant. We called to order ahead of time while our order was prepared to perfection by the time we arrived. The service is top notch and friendly so you won't want to miss a return visit to this charming roadside deli. I called a few minutes ahead (short notice) and ordered an Italian Combo sandwich. Along with that, I grabbed a bag of Wise Sour Cream & Onion potato chips. Everything was good and the staff was very friendly. I was in and out very quickly. They had lots of other good food options here besides the deli sandwiches and grinders.
