Silver Star Diner — Restaurant in Norwalk

Silver Star Diner in Norwalk is an excellent diner. The staff is always extremely courteous and friendly no matter the time of day. Gus especially is great and always has a joke to tell or make you laugh which is great. I usually always get the same item every time which is the chicken souvlaki platter. It's done very well. The chicken is always moist and flavored perfectly and the tziki sauce is excellent. On a side not the cole slaw is also very good along with the French fries. The side salad that comes with the chicken souvlai platter is also very good. There's some kind of I think fig leaf wrapped over rice (forgive me if I am wrong on what kind it is. I'm not Greek) but it's great. For desert they have a wide variety of cakes and pastries but I always go for the cheesecake which they make in house and is excellent. Glass of milk and/or a coffee with a slice of cheesecake and you know you're in for a treat. Last night they even had fresh cannoli dipped in chocolate on both ends. I ate it all like a pig and enjoyed every bite of my meal. It's conveniently located right off of exit 14 off rt95 across from REI (which you can see from 95). Like literally right off the exit and open 24 hours a day. It's been my go to diner for some time now. The rest of the menu is large and most everything I've seen come out of the kitchen looks great but like I said I stick to my particular favorite with out exception. Silver Star Diner is the best diner that I have ever experienced. As a diner lover, I've visited diners all over the country. Silver Star provides more than just the comfort food and comfortable atmosphere you expect from a diner. It also specializes in a wide variety of fine dining choices and fresh-baked goods, as they have a bakery on-site. There's a dining room with a classic diner feel and a more lush, cozy restaurant dining room with dimmed lighting and a relaxed atmosphere. Your choice. The service is fast and friendly and the prices are very reasonable for any budget. I only wish they were a member of Uber Eats, because I would order from there on the occasions where I didn't feel like going out and eating there, so they would only get more business from me. Since I would do that, I know their other customers would do the same. Uber Eats has a lot of good member restaurants, but every time I use the app I wish I could order from Silver Star. When you feel like having a nice dinner out, though, it's a great place to eat and relax. It's mellow, they play great music at a low volume so you can hear it only if you want to focus on it, and there are two TVs, one in each dining room, showing various programming to create a nice background ambience if one screen or another happens to catch your eye. Although the Silver Star is out of my Westport living area - whenever I am meeting friends and colleagues from Greenwich, Darien, etc. this is a good place to meet for coffee, a meal and a good discussion. It is a good place to stop if you have family members or friends in Norwalk hospital - and/or coming from New York City on your way North to Boston or New England - Breakfast omelettes, eggs, etc. are available all the time - as well as Diner style lunch and dinner items. They have good - Diner style desserts - - Its a Diner and sometimes a great diner is exactly where you want and need to be. Its not high on the vegetarian options - but that is where you can ask for baked potatoes, salads, cooked veggies - ITS A DINER not an upscale vegan or vegetarian restaurant!
