My wife & I had a very frustrating experience at this store. We cane to the store to purchase 4 hybrid e-bikes & a bike trailer. After talking to a sales rep for about 35 min. We finally chose 4 bikes that we wanted the store to order for us because they did not have 4 of them in the store. We were convinced to join REI to get some sort of savings. When we went to the register to pay & place the order, they first charged the $30 membership & then the cashier proceeded to place the almost $6,000 order. It is at this time that we were informed for the first time that they could not place the order for us because store policy does not allow to place a special order. We were given two options. One, was we can travel to 4 different REI stores were they had one of each & purchase them individually or two, they can order & have the big boxes delivered to my home & then I would have to bring them to the store for assembly. Long story short, we walked out of the store frustrated & went to the local bike store where we tested different bikes and we ended purchasing 6 e-bikes not 4 for $7,000. If you want a new bike, don't waste your time with the big stores. They have too many rules that make no sense & the staff is not well informed. Support your local businesses & enjoy a better experience.l & a big savings by cutting...
Read moreWe had a frustrating experience at this REI. My son and I visited this store to simply purchase a new bicycle and it turned out to be a disappointing outing.
When we arrived, we browsed the bikes area for about 10 to 15 minutes flagging any rep that could help us. There was one rep that was busy with a customer, but clearly saw us looking for assistance. The other reps were idle on their phones in the near vicinity. Eventually, the first rep called in for help.
By the time an REI rep finally arrived, we had already chosen a bike, but just wanted confirmation on fit and an opinion on whether it was a good learners bike. With a condescending tone, a rep told us that the bike was too big, that REI offers classes on weekends, and that it's best to have a smaller bike. When I asked for a smaller bike then, the rep said, in short: they didn't have any... I am writing this after purchasing a bike online somewhere else. Next day delivery.
I am writing this review not to chastise the store for their poor service, but for other to save their time from this level of ineptitude and unhelpfulness.
The extra star is for the store itself. It is relatively well stocked (if you're not looking for a bike) and generally a cool place if you are only looking to...
Read moreBeen taking my bikes here for years to fix and recently I bought a used one and I had taken the wheels off to make sure there was no damage on Sunday and Monday I took it to REI to make sure and have them check to see if the rear wheel was straight and instead the guy working at the bike shop tightens my axle instead and sends me off saying “it looks as straight as can be”. I go home and not even a minute during my ride back my brakes act funny and I’m thinking I should change my rotor and pads since I bought new parts and I try to take the peg off since the bike is a SE OM duro and the peg is so close to my derailleur since the guy didn’t put it on to the frame fully that the room made my peg rub on the derailleur as I’m taking off the nut and I see that my whole side of the axle is warped and stripped since the threads are melted. I take it back and the guy says “it’s not my fault it is the last owner that had it before me or my fault since the nut is striped and tried charging me to keep my bike at REI to get a replacement axle blaming it all on me so now I’m taking the bike back because it’s their fault this happened and they instead of taking responsibility blamed it on me as selfish...
