What makes this Caribbean restaurant so special compared to the many jamaican restaurants in Connecticut, most in Bpt, is the style of food preparation. This is not you're "run-of-the-mill" Caribbean restaurant and it's not JUST A JAMAICAN restaurant. OSU JERK GRILL is an OUTSTANDING African/Caribbean smoke house restaurant with Giant smokers on the outside of the building. This is what makes the OSU JERK GRILL create the most flavorful, tender, succulent and juicy jerk chicken, pork and oxtail in MY OPINION! (as well as others too😊) Fried chicken, Thursdays-Saturdays only. $5 & $6 rice & pea specials daily as well. Soup, cabbage salad, mac & cheese, all kinds of patties etc. Most important difference is not just the quality but the QUANTITY compared to other restaurants. Eye-popping servings at fair & reasonable prices!!! Consumers buy differences. The delicious flavors at the OSU JERK GRILL will really "BLOW YOUR SKIRT UP". OUTSTANDING restaurant with a staff that even BOB MARLEY would be impressed, may he rest in peace. A great staff with some really beautiful folk. The owners Grace & Joshua naturally give everyone that warm, opened arm hospitality that you just don't get anymore. What can be better? The staff which includes the MASTER SMOKER OMAR demonstrates excellent Grilling skills. Meats always cooked at the correct height and temperature. ALWAYS! Then there is ENOCH & SYLVIA. Grace the owner is as graceful as her name implies. Joshua who is from Ghana has more class than anyone I've ever met. A true gentlemen and OUTSTANDING businessman. Osu jerk grill is the best I can get in the northeast for Caribbean food.Now as far as the rating not being 5-stars it’s for 2 reasons.First reason is I haven’t tried all their foods.So far I haven’t been disappointed in what I have tried.The flavor has been excellent enough to make me drive the distance to get a meal from them since being here.I have my favorite dish though but am willing to give the whole menu a try.Second reason is the atmosphere.Theres nothing I can say that is bad exactly about the atmosphere itself.Only reason I didn’t give this a 5 is because I’m used to loud background music playing and tables of people munching on delicious food all while having conversations just relaxing.The lounge feel.Osu still has great atmosphere that extends beyond their food and service when you factor everything.The two reasons I have are nothing bad especially the atmosphere reason.They cook with passion and love which shows in their dishes.

With that said once I’m done with trying out the whole menu I can update everything.If I could recommend my favorite items I’d say get you some of their great oxtail meal with extra gravy.Throw that rice and peas on that bih with some cabbage and pig out.Another one of my favorite items that I have to get Everytime is their chicken patties.These things when I pick them up are never dry and hard like other places.Nice flaky patties with a good balance of pastry and meat.

This business just joined “too good to go” so we placed two orders. Was happy with the amount of food. We got two different types of chicken (the jerk one had rice as well), a huge container of rice and beans and two large containers of soup. Last night some of us got sick and it’s the three of the six people in my family who ate the food. Whoever didn’t eat the food is fine. My son had a small amount and he’s running to the bathroom for hours like my husband and myself. I think the soup was spoiled. I thought the flavor was a little odd but I’m not too familiar with Jamaican food and figured it was just the seasonings. I took all the left overs out of the fridge this morning. I found that the soup was bubbling on top. Unfortunately we aren’t taking any chances and all the food has been thrown away. It’s almost noon and we still are having to go to the bathroom even though we haven’t eaten anything since this food last night.
