Grandad's Pizza & Pub — Restaurant in Norwich Township

My family and I have been to Grandad's no less than 20 times over the last 2 years - on different days of the week and at different seasons throughout the year. Because of this, I feel as though we've experienced all this location has to offer.

Every time we go the experience is the same. The food is great but the service is terrible. We come back because most of the time, the food is good enough to outweigh the bad service experience, but I think it's time to consider other options for dine-in Pizza joints. It's a shame, too, because Grandad's really has a nice location (The 3 star rating for atmosphere is purely due to the lack of air conditioning. It's always stuffy and uncomfortable in there, no matter the weather outdoors.)

Grandad's has a great beer selection. That said, it is rare for you to get a refill delivered to your table in a normal amount of time. Several times I have seen my beer poured and sitting at the bar, waiting to be brought to the table. In the ~20 times we've been, I've had to walk up and get my own beer at least 4-5x after waiting 20+ mins without a server passing by.

Last night we went to GD and ordered 2 appetizers and a small pizza. Food was great, per usual. However, we were met with the same poor service experience we've grown to expect. We were sat right away but waited 10 or so minutes before a server came to the table. The table beside us actually got up and left because they were tired of waiting. Once the server came and took our drink orders, we rarely saw her again. My beer was gone before the entree came out so I ordered another once the food was brought to the table. Never saw that beer, although it was on the tab once we finally got our check. They took the beer off after being asked, but offered no additional means to make the overall experience right.

I'm sorry to say I don't think we'll be back, which is a real shame because the food really is good. We've just reached a point where the service ruins...

They only reason this establishment is getting one star instead of -5 is the Manager/Bartender Josh. My husband, my 3 year old son and myself stopped in for an early supper last Sunday BIG MISTAKE! 2 other tables occupied and a couple at the bar we had to wait over 5 minutes to be greeted the server sniffled and snotted the entire time she spoke with us. Forgot our drinks didn't tell us she was leaving for the day, the poor excuse for a replacement server only came over once. Our food was finally brought out and the worst quality I've had there. It had been sitting for close to 10 minutes until someone finally figured out it was there. So after getting attitude from 3 "servers" the manager /bartender Josh came over to speak with us. He rectified the situation for us. I would love to name drop the lazy individuals, but I've been told that you can't do that any more because for some reason people's feelings get hurt when they get called out for not doing their job, go figure! Big thanks to Josh, hopefully he is valued and appreciated for doing his job and the job of the "servers" that pretend to do theirs. For being family owned I would really hope this gets...

I would like to rate them hire than 2 stars, but the service at the Hilliard location was absolutely horrible, stopped in to have Dinner with my daughter who highly recommend the food and it was all downhill from there, we were seated at a hightop and asked to move to a booth, our waitress told us we could have the booth that no one was sitting at and as we were about to move another waitress yelled at my wife and said what are you doing and we explained we were going to the booth and then in a very disrespectful tone, she promised it to someone else so we went back to our table embarrassed at the ass she made of herself about a booth that we had no idea anyone had and to came up later with her fake apology and would not leave our table until I had to tell her to leave, it is a shame that one employee can have such a negative affect on one visit. This was the first time at Grandad's Hilliard location and it will be my last, that young ladies actions and attitude are unexceptable.
