I give them 4.5 stars. Flavors were good and authentic. Decent portions and price but i do have complaints. I was never asked how spicy i wanted the dishes and they came out with no spice but thats not a problem i just requested some chili flakes. They actually charge you extra to get the food "thai spicy" and then even more for "lao spicy" which is weird to me. Sticky rice was an extra $3.50 which is fine but the rice was very yellow indicating it is not fresh. Oahu has better Thai food in general than all of the other islands. This place is good but service is so so. I would still come here again for the flavors though. The Thai Tea was good also. Not watered down and full of flavor.

Thai Lao has been our favorite Thai food spot on Oʻahu since we moved here a year ago! The flavors are incredible, good portions and the food is always fresh and satisfying. I’m obsessed with their Pad Thai and Pineapple Fried Rice so flavorful and perfectly balanced. My husband swears by the Panang Curry it’s rich, creamy, and packed with just the right amount of spice. The staff is always welcoming, and the place has a cozy, local feel that we really love. We’ve tried a few other Thai places, but nothing comes close to Thai Lao. Highly recommend if you’re craving solid, delicious Thai food with aloha!

We heard about this restaurant from a local friend. We enjoyed our meal here and will be back. The staff was friendly and welcoming. Service was prompt and our server was glad to answer questions and make suggestions. I ordered the green papaya salad and asked for it to be spicy and it was!!! I really liked it and it was filling. My husband ordered Chow Fun noodles with beef and broccoli. We shared spring rolls. Everything was delicious and the sauces had complex layers of flavor.

My wife and i decided to try something different. We love Thai food but on Oahu it's difficult to find. We used to go to Champa thais but they closed down. Look on this website and found this Thai restaurant that was in Kapolei called Thai lao restaurant. Some of the reviews that we read weren't great. Some people talked about overpriced food and too spicy but I totally disagree. My wife and I ordered two appetizers two entrees, two sticky rice two drinks and it still was less than $40. The food had great combinations of spices and freshness. The atmosphere was pleasant and the service very professional I wasn't continuously bothered and asked with ridiculous questions whether I needed anything. The only flaw of my wonderful experience at this restaurant was the parking. I understand that it is not the restaurants fault, but the way they constructed the building is absurd. The owner himself had put signs out not to park in certain areas because cars will be continuously towed throughout the day. Also, many people came to warn us when we first parked by Burger King that cars will be towed if we eat in another part of the mall. I don't think that's fair to any of the business owners there and if it's due to the lease of the building then the Kapolei Mall should lessen their lease for good businesses to have some parking. Malls cannot survive if there are no...

Saw good reviews and decided to try this place 4 the first time -- as I like to try different Thai restaurants in different states, and I wanted 2 treat myself 4 my Birthday.

First of all, I phoned in my order & Richie was super courteous and has excellent phone ettiquete. However, when I went to pick up my order, there was ZERO customer service at the counter from the female working Friday, July 1 late afternoon, with very long hair & heavy eye make up.

Then I get home and was disappointed in standard Thai dish Papaya salad -- tasted sour and bland -- definitely NOT freshly made -- with mostly papaya, barely any green beans or tomatoes -- which were both small & shriveled. Threw out the whole container.

Also disapointed in Beef salad -- steak too well done, black grill marks & even burnt parts served. Threw out the whole plate.

Didnt take pictures before throwing in dumpster.

On the other hand, the red curry & the mango sticky rice were really good.

Lastly, the menu...

This was the worst I have ever had. I love Thai, however this tasted like it was made by 3rd graders with no cooking experience. Ordered green curry and it was mostly white and heavy. It tasted nothing like green curry and flavorless. There was an odd taste. I ended up tossing it after one bite. I hate wasting food but this was horrible. I had another dish and it was supposed to be spicy. You know how you order the same thing at so many places you know when something just isn’t right? Their Pad Se Ew had no pepper flakes, a strange sauce taste and the noodles were heavily clumped together. I requested beef but it was hardly there. What was there was hard to chew. This was a total miss and felt like they were trying to fool people who may not know better. We have been eating Thai for over 30 years and...
