The food was good, but there are a lot of places with good food & for these prices - I expect great service & a cool atmosphere. Neither of those occurred.
We celebrated my son’s 13th birthday at Perry’s tonight, it was my husband & our 3 kids. I am very surprised at all of the reviews mentioning a server by name, servers who knew & explained the menu, & “top notch service.”
Our server asked if it was our 1st time there (yes) & then did not explain anything on the extensive menu, said nothing about how the steaks were prepared or aged (like at other nice steak restaurants), and he just kept showing up & asking if we were ready to order (drinks/apps/dinner) & seemed annoyed.
I asked for salt & pepper & he said “oh, it’s not in the table?” & at the end of the night I noticed that every other table around us had a candle, except for us - how did he not notice that? It would have added to the non-existent ambiance; our table felt like we were stuck in the corner of a very crowded conference room.
Do not let them sit you at the tables in the boringly decorated side-room across from the hostess stand. We were not in the bar, we were behind a drab partition wall that I got to view all night - that completely blocked the better decorated part of the dining room that I saw en route to the bathroom. The blue banquette seating area on the other side of the partition was much more interesting & I wish I had asked to be seated there; our table/room seemed disjointed & not as much a part of the main restaurant.
I had my back to the only art on the walls, in the corner area we were crammed into, with a view of a high traffic hallway & a partition wall with no art - that blocked any other possible cool things to look at. The table behind us was so close that any time my son, daughter or I got up, we had to shimmy sideways & my butt was hitting the shoulders of the people behind us.
Additionally, our table was mounded high with dishes we were clearly done with (bread, then appetizer plates, drinks glasses & silverware/napkins), while multiple ppl came to the table to drop food/drinks & walked away empty handed.
I have 3 kids (10,13, 14) there were bread crumbs all over the table & dirty silverware in the middle of the table that dropped off of appetizer plates (that I asked to be cleared) that were left there all night - this place could invest in some of those de-crumbing tools & some staff training.
My family each had steaks & lobster tails, and shared the lobster mac & creamed spinach - everything was delicious except the calamari appetizer, which was the blandest we have ever had.
Overall - not what one would expect of a nice dinner out. I was just in Nashville & the atmosphere, service & decor of some of the restaurants there blew my mind - so interesting & well thought out.
Where we were seated at Perry’s felt like a spare card-table had been set up as a kids table in the kitchen for Thanksgiving - the food was good, but the table was a mess the whole time, the ambiance was zero & the service was more of “help-yourself” versus being taken care of.
12/29/24 UPDATE: Several weeks ago I noticed that the manager, Kristin Nolte, commented on my review and asked me to call. I called and she was not working that day, so I spoke to the manager who was working that night. In not news - she could NOT...
Read more¡Very disappointed by the treatment of the Manager on duty and the hostess who was in charge of our reservation! both had a passive aggressive racist attitude towards us, they made us feel very uncomfortable and discriminated against, even though we had a reservation they made us wait at the door for for quite some time and for no reason, when we arrived at the restaurant on Wednesday, July 26, before 5:00 pm, the room where we wanted to dine was almost empty. After we arrived, other people arrived and they were immediately let in, Surely everything we say in the restaurant recordings can be confirmed, we are a family with Italian roots and we speak English very well, but obviously we have a slightly different accent, we wonder if this is the reason for the mistreatment or discrimination? from the beginning we were very polite and kind to them and that is why we cannot understand why they behaved so badly with us. The waitress that served us was called Cristinne and she was incredibly kind, sweet and polite with all of us, her table helpers, 2 Americans and 2 of Latin origin were also excellent with us, we could say that they all made the evening lovely for us . The food was delicious, we really loved it, we really recommend it. The problem happened again at the end when we asked Cristinne for her bill and guess who brought it directly? He was the manager on duty and he gave it to us in a hypocritical way and with a false smile, he treated us as if we were a group of idiots, he asked us if everything was fine and obviously we answered yes because the food and the attention of Cristinne and her team were top notch. The one who paid the bill was my sister-in-law, she discovered some rather strange things on the receipt but she did not want to claim at that time, then later she showed me the receipt and I was able to confirm that that manager maliciously charged us more money than what we really should have paid, we clearly asked Cristinne for three rib eye stakes of $65 and the manager charged us for three stakes of $79 each, he also automatically included in the receipt 18% of tip without our having authorized it, my sister-in-law did not want to make any claim so as not to ruin the night and paid quietly. I have visited the restaurant on two previous occasions, once with some executives at the bar and the other time it was a dinner with an aunt and a cousin and the truth is that they always treated me very well in the restaurant, all the staff were always very friendly and polite with me and the food was also always spectacular, on those occasions I was charged for the correct amount and I always left generous tips with much gratitude to the people who served me. I don't know what happened this time with this manager and the person in charge of reservations, the truth is that the company should fire them and be much more careful in the future with the restaurant's customers, we are the ones who make good places like this, which They are our favorite places and we recommend them to other people so that the business always grows and is maintained over time. Here is a photograph of my beautiful family from that night in the restaurant, we just wanted to enjoy an unforgettable evening but until now I don't understand what the hell happened to that manager, because he behaved so badly...
Read more2/18/24 We arrived at 6:40 PM for 6:45 pm dinner reservation. We waited for five minutes and no valet was in sight. I told my wife to go inside and check in and wait for me while I park the car. We were seated after about a five minute wait. We were seated at table that was missing salt shakers and candle. We were then greeted by bus boy serving water. Our waiter then showed up and explain the drink options. The waiter returned five minutes later and took a drink order. He did asked if we had any questions on the menu or like an appetizer. We ordered the crab cakes. The crabcakes were deep-fried and could use some kind of a sauce to go with them. They were sitting in a little amount of butter in the dish. The crabcakes were dry. We were served crab cakes in about 10 minutes. Our waiter came back to the table shortly there after and asked if we wanted to place our dinner order. We ordered a steak fillet with scallops and their famous pork chop with a couple sides for both dinners. During this time, the three tables around us were seated with new guests. We finished our appetizer, and shortly there after the waiter showed up, and also asked if we would like another round of drinks. We ordered another round of drinks. The waiter also suggested a salad, we decided on the wedge. We finished our salads and drinks. The waiter finally came to the table and cleared off the plates. The waiter stated we should have our dinner shortly. The three tables around us all received their dinner. Another 20 minutes went by and no dinner. A manager then came to the table and apologized and stated they were out of the pork chop. I asked, why did you wait this long to let us know you didn’t have the pork chop. She could not give me an answer. She offered us drinks on the house. We declined drinks at that time. I stated let me look at the menu for another option. But I still don’t understand why it took this long to let us know as the three tables that were sat around us all have their dinner. She apologized again. The waiter returned five minutes later, and I ordered the New York strip trio. About 5 to 10 minutes later, the same manager returned and stated they do have the pork chop. I told her please give me the pork chop then. We then ordered another round of drinks. Our dinner showed up about 5 to 7 minutes later as originally ordered. We finally got a candle that was different from the rest ( yellow in color, rest around us were white) a salt shaker in a pepper, shaker and sugar holder to the table. After dinner or we were asked if we wanted dessert. We stated we will look at the menu and probably take something to go. We noticed that most of the tables were now empty all around us. It was after 9 PM. The waiter brought us cheesecake to go and the bill. He explained they took off one drink I did not care for, and comped us for the pork chop. From no valet service to the table service, kitchen service we still spent $238 plus tip. Perry’s provided the worst experience taking my wife out for...
