This newly opened , locally-owned & locally-operated gem is exactly what Oceanside needed at the end of its famous pier.

Next time you take a stroll down to the end of this iconic pier to capture the ocean view, you can now enjoy a little taste of some healthy seafood.

Currently located within the shed next to the old Ruby’s Diner building, this place is perfect for a quick bite on-the-go. You order. To stroll around. Get your food and continue to enjoy the vibes. ❤️

Portions are very good compared to the prices and there is currently nothing on the menu over $20 and that’s amazing considering the quality!

You can find handheld bowls of goodness like, fish & chips, chowder tots, seasonal salad and my favorite, the sea-animal fries! It’s their fun take on In & Outs “animal fries”, but it has fresh fish!

Ingredients are fresh and they also support local and offer fresh-caught fish 😊

Note: There is currently no seating and no restrooms (use the bathrooms provided on the pier prior to the end)

I’m VERY excited to continue supporting this business and I’m even hoping they can take-over the old Ruby’s location and offer Oceanside the dining experience it deserves!

“For Locals, By Locals” is their slogan and there’s NOTHING better than having a locally-owned business at the end of our pier.

This place is a MUST!

I've been waiting for this place to open! Let me tell you, it did not disappoint! The food was super fresh and so good! This little gem is right next to the old ruby diner.

I tried the local blue fin tuna sashimi. It was paired with pickled cucumber, yellow beets, zucchini stem, smokey stone fruit glaze, and ogo seaweed. The tuna melted in your mouth and is definitely a must try!

I also had to try the seasonal salad with prawns! It was a perfect meal for a nice sunny day. The salad had mixed greens, peaches, red onions, cherry tomatoes, and smokey yuzu vinegar dressing.

I loved the prawns, but if I got this again, i would try the albacore. The prawns need to be peeled, which got a little messy. If I had a place to sit and eat, this would definitely be ideal. But the peaches went so well with the shrimp!

All and all the gentlemen was helpful and friendly at the cashier, and the food came quickly. What better way to enjoy the pier than fresh local catch with masterful pairing.

Can't wait to be...

4.5 stars. This is a small shack at the pier. They have a fairly extensive menu than I expected for the space. We got the Vietnamese shrimp po boy with shrimp and with tempura carrots for the veggie option, and the chilequiles. The portions were definitely filling. They presented the food in compostable boxes, which is great! The food was delicious! The sauce in the po boy had the perfect kick to it. The tempura was very light. The fries were spiced, which is always a plus. The main drawback is the lack of tables to sit. There are 3 only. The ocean view is obviously beautiful but it was a little chilly in the shade, so get a jacket. The girl at the counter was very friendly. I definitely recommend them for their food and service. You probably want to find a different place to...

WHAT'S GOING TO HAPPEN NOW? ⤵️ People keep asking me my thoughts and want to know what the cause of the fire was for the Oceanside Pier? • These are my thoughts: • • The cause will either be unknown or be deemed accidental • (this is the BEST & most logical "reasoning" to use) • • This way the BrineBox keeps their outstanding reputation, & the city won't have to claim negligence for not being able to keep the pier safe via regular inspections & maintenance, or claim negligence from any mishap via maintenance work being done to the Ruby's building structure. • • Factors to Consider: • Did Ruby's Diner owe the city money before closing? • • How much has the city been losing monetarily for the years that the building has been abandoned. • • Is the city responsible for the upkeep of the building? • • If so, are they responsible to bring it up to-code BEFORE another business moves into it? • • Could the city afford the needed renovations? • • Does the city now get funds from FEMA, insurance and other sources for repairs to the pier AND what does that entail? What are the funds intended to cover? • • Will they be obligated to use the funds received to restore ALL THE STRUCTURES to their past greatness? • • Even if they rebuild the structures at the end of the pier, will the BrineBox be offered FIRST DIBS to move-in and be the 1st LOCAL BRAND to be on the Pier, OR will it be up for bids and we have some foreign chain/franchise move-in. • • Will the BrineBox even be able to afford the NEW Building Lease Pricepoint? • • *** AGAIN, TO BE CLEAR, I DO NOT believe that the BrineBox has ANYTHING to do with any intentional or malicious acts in these circumstances for any monetary gain. That is too great a risk for this local business that has multiple establishments in our city. If ever discovered, it would be career suicide. It's not only illogical, they have never demonstrated any behaviors of this nature in the past. In addition, I don't believe there's any way that they could have an insurance policy that could cover the amount of damage done or could have happened. • • The CITY has more to gain than this small local business. • #oceansidepier #oceansidepierfire

Two local O’side favorites, Jessica and Davin Waite of Wrench and Rodent, Shoots Fish & Beer and The Plot fame, are dropping anchor at the end of the iconic Oceanside Pier in late spring. Incoming >> The Brine Box, a salty 109 sf seashack serving sustainable, healthier preparations of classic seaside snack food, reminiscent of the nostalgic English “chippys" Davin grew up frequenting in England. Created with the purpose of being a sustainable, to-go option to enjoy while taking in the picturesque 360 views, The Brine Box will have options made with the best of what’s in and on San Diego waters + locally sourced produce and sea vegetables. Keep an eye out for their grand opening soon and prepare to be sea-riously hooked! 🎣 R&D by: @davinwaite 🌐: @osidebrinebox (Follow for Details) 📸 PC: @oceansidepassport (Follow for More) Write-Up By: @baybirdincpr 📍: Oceanside Pier - Kiosk at the End • #sustainablefoods #oceansidepier #eatingoceanside
