I want to edit my original review to say we’ve been back 2 more times. We enjoyed live music and a beautiful meal while watching an amazing sunset last Thursday. Then we went back to celebrate our anniversary on the 19th. The food is even better than Before, service was great, they have been power washing the outdoor area regularly which I think is all that’s needed to keep the flying insect guests from joining us. There were no flies. I actually hope they don’t install the class as I previously mentioned because the view is so beautiful!

Today is Sept. 5th 2021

I've lived in Oceanside for over 25 years, I have seen the many changes our little town has gone through and many changes since we bought our home in this small town. I don't agree with all of these changes as I don't feel they've kept the locals in mind. However, every once and awhile I find a gem that has kept us locals in mind as well as bringing in out of town visitors. High/ Low is definitely one of the places that has done an amazing job of catering to both categories.

Don't be intimidated by the 45 min wait that we just experience. Keep in mind that this is Labor Day weekend and a Sunday. The wait time may be less on other days but I don't know. I do know they accept reservations. I've heard that Thursday they have live music which is a nice compliment to our Thursday night Farmers market.

If you experience a wait, relax and walk across the street, find a bench and enjoy the unobstructed view of our beautiful Oceanside. Take a walk down the Pier, have a short stroll through downtown. Basically what I'm saying is it's worth the wait.

Today we enjoyed sitting outside. It was a perfect combo of sun and shade provided by an umbrella and ocean breeze. We sat sipping our refreshing corpse reviver drinks while having a full view of Oceanside pier, and surfers riding waves. The only thing that would make it better might be in the evening, the 4th, or any holiday providing beautifully light streets and buildings.

Our server was Nicole B. She is amazing. I'd recommend you ask to sit in her section.

I ordered the Hawaiian rice and chicken rice salad. Having been born and raised in Hawaii I can say the Hawaiian fried rice took me back to my childhood in Kailua. The chicken rice salad was also AMAZING!

My only concern is this. Apparently the Hotel is supposed to maintain the outside eating area by power washing the concrete and putting glass around the perimeter to reduce insects. Neither of which was done. Because of their lack of attention there where spills of unknown origin on the ground and flies. Once the power wash is done regularly, umbrellas repaired and glass put up around the perimeter I feel the problem will be resolved. These things are no reflection on the restaurant but on the beautiful hotel which apparently manages the grounds.

All in all our day was amazing, Nicole B is amazing, our drinks- The Corpse Reviver was light, refreshing and delicious, and the food was wonderful!

This is a definite favorite for me and I highly recommend it for locals and tourists alike. It's pet friendly too!

I hope this review helps, and thank you for reading it. Also, I'm in no way compensated for this review. I simply enjoy writing and...

I would have rated this restaurant better but honestly I did not have the best experience. For starters, you wouldn’t even notice it was a restaurant, it’s kind of hidden. I went around 4pm and the only had small bites menu, but I guess that was my fault for not knowing. When I sat down my server Araceli spent 5 minutes talking to the table next to me, not restaurant talk but a personal conversation. The place was somewhat empty only 3 tables inside were occupied (including mine) the two other tables had 2 people each table. Once Araceli came to my table, I asked her what kind of non-alcoholic drinks they had. She mentioned they had a PuertoRican grapefruit soda, so I asked for that but she gave me TopoChico Mineral Water which is actually a Mexican Brand. Once I received my food, I got up and asked for utensils and a napkin because I was not provided with these. While I was eating, I noticed hotel guests walking through the restaurant, which honestly it was very disturbing, specially when servers are walking with orders to tables. Not sure if it was the chef but he told a table next to me that they had a Pulled Pork Sandwich special but I was not offered this. I had already received my food, if not I would’ve loved to try out that Sandwich. After Araceli left, Nicole helped me. Nicole was very nice, I’m not sure if she was the only server because she sat down to eat and got up when a customer showed up at the register.

TIP: I heard their breakfast is always better so I should try that instead. Also, please ask for a seat where you can get a nice view or else you will be stuck with a column in between lol

I ordered the following:

Guacamole with taro chips: the guacamole was a bit lemony but not salty. Chips are on the softer end, not too hard. I loved the chips!

Arugula Pesto Popcorn: at first it was very salty, maybe they did not mix it well? But after I mixed it it tasted better. You can taste the lemon but eventually it got oily because of the pesto.

Shrimp rolls: They are not rolled shrimp rolls. That was my mistake. The shrimp rolls come in Hawaiian bread rolls. The shrimp filling and the bread both contrast the taste of each other. The jalapeño topping gives a bit of a zing once eating. Also, one thing to note is that the shrimp does not exactly taste fresh, maybe it was frozen before then cooked? I know most businesses do that.

House Made Fries: Honestly I was very dissatisfied by these. I love fries and these tasted like something I could get from Wendy’s or any other Fast Food place that get frozen fries and cook them. I honestly think these are not house made. I do give them props on the ketchup, it was sweet with a bit of a spicy...

Yesterday Saturday at 1:00 p.m. in a very crowded city of Oceanside California we found this great little restaurant with a spectacular ocean view.

Hi Lo Restaurant in Oceanside California It is a restaurant that has not been discovered by everybody yet. The outside dining was sufficient a very large area the waiting area to be seated very comfortable outside garden setting setting this is attached to the mission Pacific hotel the newest hotel in Oceanside California.

The food is good really good 5 of us in our port party ordered 5 different items off their very small but eclectic menu every one of us were happy with our choices include including the kimchi fried rice karma the fried chicken sandwich, the breakfast BLT leaving the side of fries was good.

The prices were not expensive at all and the view is the best in all of Oceanside because you're overlooking the entire Pacific Ocean from their outdoor dining area we were also invited to go into the rooftop pool at the mission pacific hotel because it's open to the public and that's something else all to itself.

The service was very good and when we talked to her later about the bad reviews they had recently received pretty much due to the fact that it had only been open 6 weeks due to the fact that people are impatient with their own vacation of the field entitled when they were sitting at a restaurant. If you don't have patience or tolerance don't go out to eat because Restaurants are busy people are coming back to life and their were thousands of people in Oceanside on Saturday afternoon but we didn't feel crowded in this restaurant we didn't feel rushed we didn't have to wait for a long for a table we didn't have A-line and we're definitely going to go go back again and begin as...
