Meh location, Meh vibes and atmosphere, Meh beer.
Not the best brewery I've ever been to... Sorry to the folks at Stone but this place was just "Meh" which is why I think a 2 star rating is more than fair.
Me and my brother went to this place at around 6pm or 7pm and the atmosphere of the place was just slacking... barely any music outside, barely any people around, barely any employees, barely anything to get excited for tbh.
The staff was more preoccupied cleaning than helping customers, I went to the window to get their attention and I had to call them out to get their attention.
We expected food at least after seeing some basic chips and jerky for sale at the front, we were given a table topper from a restaurant that was "next door" and even then I had to use a QR code scan to see the menu and order and I quickly opted for going to eat someplace else since this random Hawaiian restaurant that was next door was crazy expensive for some simple "Hawaiian not Hawaiian" eats like tacos and sliders with a Hawaiian twist... If you come to visit here... Maybe arrive well-fed.
We ordered a flight and I believe they had one or two brews out of stock that sounded interesting. My brother isn't the biggest IPA fan but I did have some of the new brews they had available that night even if they weren't particularly impressive.
Maybe it's just me... but I've had much better and flavorful IPAs. Which is kinda disappointing because Stone was one of the first IPAs I've ever had.
Tbh I expected a better atmosphere even for a Sunday evening. Some quality restaurants nearby were packed with music at least. Between me and my brother it was about 3 or 4 other people around the fire pit outside. Later some 2 girls came by and they looked kinda disappointed too. Maybe it was the cold weather or something but we passed other breweries and found much more people than at Stone.
Like I said, the staff was very preoccupied with cleaning up and doing busy work around the place more than helping us and making sure our needs and wants were met. The way the staff were doing it, they were getting ready to go home..... At 7pm... That was a huge turn off for us that was very awkward and unbecoming for a first time visit.
There were MUCH better breweries and bars we could've gone to. Stone IPA wasn't a huge waste of time and money but it was definitely NOT worth it. I want my time back more than my money back at this point and that's saying a lot about the expectations of this place.
Sorry but I'm never going back to this place. Normally I give a review and come back to a place to see if it has improved but this was one place that was on my brewery visit list that was incredibly disappointing especially since I hardly get to go to San Diego, I'd rather spend the evening at another brewery and go home happy with good beer and good food.
For the record, I'm a regular brewery buff. I've been to over 20 breweries so far and I always make a stop to taste some craft and brews indigenous to the location I'm visiting. You want a place with a good atmosphere and fun vibes and lots of people that consider it a hangout place regularly. Stone just wasn't that this visit and I'm trying to be fair but transparent...
Read moreReally nice place every time I come, except for this latest visit⌠Iâll get to that. Very nice atmosphere, good beer selection, live music sometimes. Fire pits and good seating. No food. Foliage is nice and adds to the ambiance. Now the issue. I brought my kids to relax have some boba drinks while weâre adults sipped on some beer. One of the servers has a major attitude problem. White woman, wavy to curly hair, tattoos, nose piercing, she is in desperate need of some people skills. Ask for some limes , no limes. Ask for lemon, the male servers are super chill and find a lemon. She says no itâs for drinks. I sayi ordered a beer⌠itâs a drink. She says no I mean real drinks. Okay cool so STONE BREWERY who sells BEER is not known for real drinks. Ok cool. Walk off. My kids are exploring the plants and nature feel. She comes and snaps at them about being on a rock. Ok I let it slide, sure they donât need to be on a rock. While later, back on the rock while the adults are chatting. She returns and snaps again. She was very agitated with my children to the point of negativity. Pupils wide open. Wonder why she was so crabby⌠or paranoid. Or maybe just high as a kite. Iâm spending money here only to be met with negativity and hostility. Other than her souring the mood this place is awesome. Live ukulele and singing almost...
Read moreIt was 9:10 and we just finished enjoying the infamous Thursday night Oceanside Sunset Market. It was an alluring full moon and the night fair was packed with wild local patrons. It was like an oasis stepping out from the chaos going through the Stone Brewing iron gate. I noticed every detail of their design, true landscape perfection. I enthusiastically approached the bar realizing a Stone draft will make this night a perfect evening. Before I could get a word out the bartender said politely, âSorry the bar is closedâ. I responded, The sign states open until 10â. His tone changed, he said, âLike everywhere else, the kitchen closes before the establishment, our last call was at 9 and then we will get everybody out by 10.â I mumbled, âIt takes an hour to drink a beer?â He became very condescending and quickly tired of the conversation. As I walked out disappointed and parched, I couldnât stop thinking how much money Stone Brewery is losing, downtown Oceanside is so packed with people on Thursday nights, I bet more than the rest of the entire week and this bartender wants to go home to feed his cat, ludicrousness at...
