Ocracoke Fudge & Ice Cream Shop — Restaurant in Ocracoke

Went to buy ice cream with my whole family 9 of us went we didn’t get to video tape the incident but my aunt went to the the lady that worked there to ask them to make a new ice cream because there was a long hair in the ice cream and she rudely said that it was my aunts hair but my aunt was no where near my dads ice cream (note: we told them before this even happend that she was lactose intolerant and asked if they had any) and then the lady said that it wasn’t her hair in a rude tone and proceeded to shut the window on my mom and make the new ice cream (she also made the ice cream smaller then the previous) and my aunt addressed that and she got an attitude once again and said that this was the only amount she was going to give us because we were already eating it and ALSO she then told my aunt that she had to throw away the ice cream herself with an attitude once again because she didn’t want to. She then told us to leave and we didn’t leave right away because we have the right to address what she was doing wrong and then she began to yell and slammed open the door and got into my aunts face, then threatens to call the police. And we are nice people but we felt threatened by her. (We didn’t get the ladies name but she’s usually at the front) We also saw COUNTLESS reviews that the staff are and I quote “short tempered” and “rude”. This just happend 30 minutes ago. While the ice cream is delicous and it was reasonable for the price. These scammers had decided that they would charge us 25 cents for a PLASTIC SPOON or a PLASTIC COFFEE STRAW. While the food is delicous they are annoying staff and ridiculous for charging for a half cent piece of plastic. When I ordered coffee the staff said they don't use milk for the coffee. From all the years of traveling to many places, inside and outside of the United States, the downright rudeness and incredible idea to charge money for a plastic...

This little shop will always have a piece of my heart in Ocracoke. 🏝️ It was actually one of the first places I ever worked during the summers, and even long after I stopped working here, it’s still my go-to stop every time I’m back on the island. The ice cream and fudge are always delicious (I especially love their sundaes and Northeasters), and the staff is as friendly as ever.
