Let's begin with Con's and we'll move onto our Pro's in the lower section.
Con's: -Small skimped portions of meat or beans in burritos are notorious with this food chain. It is not uncommon to get three small pieces of meat in your fajita burritos that barely fill the burrito to be even considered a taquito.
-High price for small skimped portions.
-On average look to spend 10$ and up for a meal for one, but due to skimped portions you may feel the need to spend more.
Pro's: -The Food. It is absolutely full of flavor. I have very rarely ever gotten food that was burnt or overcooked. The beef fajitas are always tender, juicy, and taste of the mesquite that it's been smoked in all day. You can actually smell the food from a while away from the restaurant it pulls you in like a siren. That being said everything is perfectly seasoned from the beans to cuts of meat. The tortillas are made fresh in house right in front of you so you know you're getting the freshest food all day. There's a salsa bar to pick up your topping needs free of charge and it's been adjusted to fit Covid-19 standards. I have NEVER found a piece of hair or bug in my food here. To me this is as authentic of a taste you can get for traditional Texmex cuisine.
Wait time. There is essentially none. Workers move quick down the line to get your food to you and even a large order can be done in less than two minutes. Don't expect to wait forever to receive your food here. Staff is always professional and fast. Don't hesitate to point out any issues.
Atmosphere. Between the decor, lighting, music, and tortilla factory it all creates a unique experience that is traditional to Rosa's customers. You feel like you're taken to a part of Texas near the border where cultures collide for a moment and create a warm inviting atmosphere. The smells and sounds immerse you in the food. We honestly will spend longer time here than other restaurants even after eating. Bathrooms are always clean and tables are always clean simply pick a spot and enjoy.
-New breakfast menu. These do not apply to the skimped food issue. They will load your plate and leave you satiated for a perfect price. The breakfast menu items are amazingly seasoned and cooked to perfection. Whether chorizo beans or fajita eggs you can be assured that it is full of flavor and worth ever bang for your buck.
My only issue here are the potatoes. Which taste fried and unseasoned. Now you can add salt and pepper at the table however because they've already been cooked and taken on flavor from the oil they won't be able to absorb salt unless it was added directly to the pan during cooking. This leaves them bland and flavorless despite being cooked perfectly. Overall Rosa's despite it's origins and notorious issues with food portions has great culinary success and will enlighten your taste buds no matter your culture. If you're in a rush and want good Mexican food that won't leave you on the toilet like other mass food chains this is the place for you.
Update from 4/11/24. West County Road location. I had my first real bad experience at this chain involving an employee throwing away my food in the rudest way possible after getting my order wrong twice. The management on duty and other employees were so understanding and professional. I received a call the following morning about the incident with apologies and a professionalism that I was pleasantly surprised and humbled to receive. I've never had to make an incident report like that much less from Rosa's. I absolutely respect this restaurant and their employees for what they do and was shocked that they even reached out the morning after to check in. I gotta change my rating to five stars. Absolute props to the manager on duty and the story manager! Thanks for making a...
Read moreRosas is fire.... honestly I can't name one thing I've tried from there so far that I can think of that wasn't on point everything is served to you fresh and in a short amount of time the wait is so worth it and the prices also. All 27 years of my life has been great when dealing with Rosas cafe never have I had problems and the service is great I would give it all a 10/10. Rosa’s Cafe is an upscale, fast casual restaurant - one of the fastest growing segments in the restaurant industry. The first Rosa’s Cafe was built in 1983 in San Angelo, Texas. In 1995, Bobby D. Read moreThe tea alone is worth the 5 stars. If you like Chick-fil-a tea, or Bush's, then Rosas should be on your short list for places to buy excellent tea.
The food- its consistent, and that is what brings me back time and time again for the last 30 years.
The bath rooms could use a little work, but that shouldn't keep you from enjoying their food. I think due to the volume the soap runs out, which isn't a bad thing, but it can be a bad thing.
Its technically fast food, but I wouldn't put it same hemisphere as a Micky-Ds, or Wednys, its far superior in freshness and quality. I really have to applaud Bobby for always keeping fresh cilantro, limes and peppers at the salsa bar, always, with-out exception.
Breakfast isn't fantastic, but its one of the only places I have been that serves migas. (corn tortillas cut up and served with potatoes and stuff)
I would recommend Rosas to a friend, and as a matter of fact I took my 90 yr old grandmother there on 4-15-17. If you are coming from California, its not an Albertos, and my gosh I wish Bobby would start making carne asada burritos, but its a great representation of...
