I have been going here for my sushi needs since 2016... maybe late 2015. Regardless of the details that I add, I want it to be known that they do deserve a high rating, I might do 4.5 if I could; just because of the few bad experiences so close together. The sushi is fantastic, it's typically fresh fish; I only say typically because I have had a few times where the yellow tail looked a bit grey, as though it had sat. I've also had a couple times where the tuna or salmon looked like it was off. After going there for so long, you're bound to see something less appetizing or appealing. I stopped going in partially because of one of the waitresses, right after places could start opening again year; she had cleaned something like water off of the floor. She used her foot and some napkins and soaked it up, by wiping the napkins around with her foot. She then picked the napkins up with her bare hands and threw it away. I was watching her and waiting for her to go into the back to wash her hands, before she brought us our food. Time was passing and she was just standing with her arms crossed, hands still disgusting. I told my friend that she still had not washed her hands. There was even a large bottle of hand sanitizer up front, even that would have made me feel better(soap and water would have better better of course). I was mentally preparing to politely tell her that I wasn't comfortable eating the food she delivered because she had not cleaned her hands after what I saw. I knew her bare hands were going to touch our plates. I didn't want to come off as rude but that was gross. I admittedly was watching her closely, right before our food was ready... she finally used the hand sanitizer. Which was better than nothing. I did dread the idea of her being my server again after that, and somehow she always was. Now I order over the phone and pick it up, which has made it so I don't always get "wasabi" or soy sauce. So now I specify to get "extra", which typically gets me the normal amount. I truly believe that they haven't been quite as good due to covid. Typically...
Read moreCame here for my birthday. They have a gluten free menu. It's not big. I told the manager I'm gluten free and i asked for the gluten free menu. It makes me vomit. When it was time to order appetizers I asked for edamame. She asked garlic or salted. I said garlic thinking it was just garlic salt. When it came it was covered in sauce. I took a bite and tasted soy sauce. I asked the manager if there's soy sauce in it. She said yes. I told her before I cant have gluten. There's gluten in soy sauce. I asked for a salted one instead because I can't have the garlic one. She said she will charge me for both since I took a bite. If I finished it without checking I would vomit. When I looked at the normal menu I asked if it's possible to make certain sushi gluten free. She said they can try. I asked for a roll with crab in it. I also asked for no sauce. When it was brought to me the crab was fried in tempura. No where did it say it was tempura. Also she's been working here for a while. She should know if it had gluten or not and at least warn me like "this is tempura crab are you sure it'll be okay?" Nope. At the end my mom had to scold the manager like she was a little child to take the garlic edmame off of the bill. The manager's behavior was ridiculous. I had to remind her over and over again I was gluten free. Then when my mom scolded her the manager said she didn't know who was gluten free at the table. I call bull crap on that. She's the one who handed me the gluten free menu. How could she not know? If anyone with dietary restrictions come here the only safe option is water. Also expect to be treated like crap for being an inconvenience apparently getting a lawsuit isn't their concern. The edamame was $5 and the manager refused to take it off the receipt until my mom put her in her place. The manager was really concerned over $5 that...
Read moreOkay so it was my first time having sushi for real. ( I had tried before but my friends had me try 95% Wasabi and a grain of rice)
I was super nervous because I was by myself just trying something new. I had seen reviews were positive though and had encouraging notes about nice staff. That was an understatement. The staff are phenomenal. They made me feel super comfortable and asked questions about my likes and dislikes, inviting me to try my first kind of sushi. It was just a basic California roll, but I went into it know what kind of flavors to expect because of their staff. Gary (their sushi chef) was super nice, and was patient the whole time.
Okay enough about the staff, I could go on all night. The food was amazing 👏 they have quite a few selections on their menu, and after this visit, I'll be surprised if I find something on their menu that isn't just top shelf. Definitely has the best host and sour soup for miles around! No question!
If you want to try sushi for the first time, I cannot recommend here enough.
Also I just wanted to finish talking about the atmosphere. It's such a cozy place, and is super warm and inviting. We are talking about awesome intimate date nights, just you and your date. Yeah that kind of just up town nice. But really really affordable too.
Okay I think I've gushed enough, but seriously, give this place a try. I am floored as it went waaayyyy above expectation. They gained a lifelong...
