Motel 6 Ogden, UT- Downtown — Hotel in Ogden

My experience started when I accidentally turned down the wrong way in the parking lot. My bad for sure. What I assume to be the manager was coming the other way, and instead of just going around my car and letting me pass and explaining how the parking lot works, he stops and just stares at me. He then gets out, comes up to my window and starts yelling at me that I can’t go this way. I told him I know that I messed up, I won’t do it again. But he insists on arguing with me. At my car window. Dude, just move out of the way, I already apologized.

Ok fine. I messed up there.

There were at least two broken down cars in the parking lot. There was one broken down trailer where some lady was working on it with her tools, no visible vehicle of her own to move said trailer when she was done; it appears she just lives in the parking lot honestly.

The smell of the building is insane. Read the other posts in here. I can’t accurately describe it but it’s not enjoyable at all. Several people have their doors wide open, talking, yelling, etc.

I get to my room and oh boy. My GF looks for bedbugs and didn’t find any so I’ll give them that. Giant gross stains on the bed though. I don’t know if that’s normal or not but the only reason we even checked is the state of the building in general. Walls are sticky and gross. Stains on carpet and walls. Walls are thin. Windows are dirty. Bathroom is dirty. Not to mention the clientele in general is just kind of.. sketchy?

Look, at $59 a night I wasn’t expecting much. But like other people have commented, I’ve stayed at other Motel 6’s. I wasn’t expecting the world. Just baseline cleanliness would have been nice.

I sat in the room with my partner for 3 minutes just thinking how I didn’t feel clean or safe. My GF could see the wheels in my head turning and suggested we ask for a refund. I will say the lady at the front desk was nice and refunded me without much hesitation.

Look, barring the goofball who tried to big league me in the parking lot, the staff was nice. This place is just gross. I originally wanted to save money but I legitimately wouldn’t have stayed there for free. And that’s not an exaggeration. I went down the road to the Hilton for $159 a night. Night and...

+Location was very convenient. We could walk to restaurants and retail places, and it was centrally located with regard to main highways and points of interest in the area. +Parking was adequate. -We expected the room to be minimally furnished; but there was only one nightstand in a double room! There were no upholstered chairs, no bureau or drawers, poor lighting, and no decorations. You could do a little better, even using thrift store items. +The TV worked well, and there was a good selection of stations. +The A/C worked well, a necessity in Ogden in a particularly hot July. +We are happy to report that we checked the room for bedbugs (Mr. Wells is a retired pest control professional) and found none. +We liked the pool. +We appreciated the complimentary newspaper. +Staff was friendly and helpful. This made our stay (17 days) more pleasant. We especially liked Michelle. -However, we were not made aware that we had to specifically request in advance the basic services, like making the bed, emptying trash, and replacing used towels. (!?!) It was not until after I complained for the third time that I was told I had to request those services the night before. The only instruction card in the room told how to signal towel replacement (leave on the floor) but hang on the rack to try to use for more than one day (which we always did). No indication was made, either by room card or check-in staff, about requesting services. +The public areas (pool, laundry area, ice machine, hallways, check-in area) were kept clean. The hallway carpet was washed while we were there, and that helped with the cigarette odors. -Strong odor of cigarettes in hall, despite the number of non-smoking room signs. -It took a number of minutes for the bathroom water to get "not-cold" enough to shower. We tried at several different a.m. and p.m. hours to avoid peak usage, and still ended up taking cold to...

Stayed here for one night and I gotta say that it was probably the worst motel I've been to. I understand with the location and the price that's it not going to be a 5 star hotel but I was really disappointed. We had called ahead and made a reservation for a room on the main floor due to a foot injury, with two beds. We get to the room and it's only a one bed. On top of that as soon as you walk in the smell of cigarettes just overpower everything. Outside there were people blasting music in vehicles, plus two rooms down from us there was music blasted till about 3 am. The people above us were literally stomping around all night nonstop. (I live in a basement so I know that you can hear people from the upstairs) but this was awful. Pounding all night long. I was up until 5am. And never once heard a stop to the noise. Were both were having a hard time stopping itching once we got into bed. I don't know if there were bedbugs or not but I think so. The cleanliness of the room was terrible as well. Hair all around the toilet and cigarette marks on the sink. You can definitely tell that the housekeepers only do the absolute neccessary. Overall definitely not a place for a family, we were scared to walk to our vehicle because of all the sketchy people hanging around right outside the door. We never left the room alone.
