Now I see why Wing Wah @Wing Wah Restaurant and Cafe in #ogden was voted number one #Chinese in Northern #Utah. My wife has been trying to get me to come here for some time, She grew up in Ogden and came here all the time with her mom. It’s been in business for over 30 years . I’m really glad we came because everything was really good. This is what we tried : The egg drop soup and sweet and sour soup was killer. 🍜 👍🏽 The Pao Pao Tray, the presentation is great, it’s basically a sample variety of all of the most popular appetizer dishes. If you want something sweet and spicy and garlicky try the general TSO’s chicken! It was very flavorful. The Chicken and garlic sauce 🐔 🧄 is cooked in garlic black bean sauce. Where the asparagus is flash fried it really locks in the Crunch! This was one of my favorite dishes. The Honey plum pork is bomb, it looks like sweet and sour pork. & it has a zingy taste. The glazed Honey walnut shrimp was also really yummy. 😋 I enjoyed the sweet, creamy sauce and big walnuts. The seafood sizzling platter is shrimp scallop calamari and crab mix with vegetables in a light garlic sauce, it came out sizzling . 🦀 🦐 This was also a good choice. Shrimp fried rice Shrimp lo mein & Vegetarian delight Oh and you have to save room for their desserts. The S’mores cheesecake wontons Fresh strawberry cheesecake wontons Apple cheesecake wontons with a caramel drizzle…… ohhhhhhhhhh my are they good 😮 I can’t even pick a favorite you gotta try all 3 . I had crab cheese wontons, potstickers, hot & sour soup, some lo mein, broccoli, and the General Tso chicken. Overall, it was solid Chinese-American food. The chicken curry was terrible and bland, avoid it at all costs. The General chicken wasn't very spicy, and was more tangy and sweet than anything. However, overall, everything was extremely filling and satisfying. The blueberry cheesecake dessert wontons were also nice too, although I had to wait a few hours at home to eat them as I was still stuffed from the meal itself. My mom was a big fan of the potstickers, and so was I. Our waitress was very nice as well. She added a lemon to my cup to make sure I wouldn't get regular Pepsi instead of the diet Pepsi that I ordered. I appreciated that seeing as one of my fears when going to a restaurant is the waiter saying screw it and giving me a normal drink, lol. The decor was cool too, although I worry for the fish in the front. Not bad, I would come here again. The wontons: 10/10. Super good wontons. I don’t think there was as much crab as there was cheese, but I couldn’t care less. It came with that one red sauce that I don’t know the name of. Paired with it, it was so satisfying and the perfect appetizer. Warm, crispy, so good. A classic. The potstickers: 10/10. These were delicious, and were also my mom’s favorite thing there. They were wonderful and very warm, as well as meaty. I believe they were filled with pork. Whatever it was, it was cooked perfectly. They came with some watery black sauce; it wasn’t soy sauce I’m pretty sure, but it was good and added the perfect touch. It’s hard to mess up steamed pot stickers. The hot and sour soup: 7/10. Great soup. I don’t have much else to compare it to, as it’s the first time I’ve eaten hot and sour soup, but I enjoyed it. Not a very high rating because I don’t think I’m a fan of this kind of soup in general, but it was good. I finished it. Tasty for sure, super savory and saucy. The consistency was thick but not ridiculously thick, and the spice level was just as I wanted. The General Tso’s: 8/10. I liked it! Very good chicken, it was my first time trying it though so not much to compare it to. Very saucy and flavorful, but not very spicy like I expected. It was more sweet and tangy than spicy, but I enjoyed it a bit more with some soy sauce. Very delicious and filling. A nice and warm plate of General Tso’s chicken, although not very special either. I wish it had more spiciness though, that would have definitely raised it another point. The curry chicken: 1/10. I can’t find this on their website’s menu, and I think I know why. Perhaps being part Indian has made me spoiled. This was the blandest, most disgusting attempt at “curry chicken” that I have ever tasted. It had the distant taste of curry, resembling something like spice. But at the forefront of it all was absolutely nothing. If curry chicken was a wasteland, this would be it. A long-forgotten battlefield where even landmines no longer rest. This was the Wyoming of all chicken curries I have eaten before. Shameful, I don’t know who greenlit this to be on their menu. Even chili oil could not save it. The dessert wontons: 8/10. I have never heard of dessert wontons, so this was creative. They tasted great. I had one warmed up and one chilled, and both were very pleasant. They’re smaller than normal wontons, thank god for my arteries. Not too sweet or anything either. Creamy, fruity, crunchy. Nice.

The restaurant is clean/organized, looks like they have a lot of selections but I feel like some combo plates are pretty similar. I think everything they have are combo plates and I wish they have family-style menu too. We like to order big plates where everyone get to share and taste different dish. The food came out fast, warm and mine was delicious but others say theirs is so-so. But at least we all agreed on the dessert - it was a bombshell, in a good way of course. They're warm and crispy and sweet inside. Price I guess is fair but most of all, the server was very nice and very attentive and to think we're the last customer for the night - and that alone made it an additional star rating. Overall, a very nice dining experience.

**Recent experiences have led me update what WAS a much-deserved 5-Star review: I stuck with Wing Wah throughout the pandemic, praised the food quality and value (even when prices were raised) for months as the restrictions eased. Then awhile ago I ordered my standard fare, House Special Lo Mein. I picked it up in house and the first thing I noticed was the smaller and lighter in weight container in the bag when I picked it up. I confirmed with the always-super-nice desk staff that it was the large lo mein I ordered, paid my $13+ and went on my way. My disappointment was just beginning at what I found upon arriving home and opening the bag. Indeed, the portion size that was formerly served almost overflowing in a large styrofoam box was now perhaps HALF of what it used to be and served in a plastic bowl w/lid. As I caught my breath and started to eat, it was immediately obvious that all the proteins were now minimally added. Maybe 3 shrimp vs 6 before and the same with the beef, pork and chicken. More broccoli though. Really having enjoyed their fares in the past, I had hoped that perhaps they were out of styrofoam containers or any other possible excuse I could imagine so I tried again. Same results. They have now permanently lost a customer who bragged about them endlessly. I'm not a cheapo who expects anything for nothing. I expect to pay for what I get and I expect the value to equal what I pay. Raising the prices a couple bucks? Understandable with all things considered. But don't do that AND cut portions so severely then present them in containers that cost twice or more what the previous ones did. Good luck. Wing Wah deserves TEN + STARS!! They have mastered selection, recipes, prices and especially customer service. I've lived in the area for 2+ years now. Amidst no fewer than 8 Asian-style food purveyors. It took a single order from a competitor to convince me that Wing Wah was THE BEST around. I was so happy to see that they survived the pandemic upheaval. So many customers have turned to 3rd party food order/delivery services that ultimately gouge and rip off the restaurant, that I was uncertain if they'd make it. Customers that do opt for those 3rd party services don't always realize that the prices are marked up significantly in addition to the delivery fee AND a cut of the regular food prices. Ultimately it's the restaurant that gives the most and ends up with the least. All in an effort to please customers that refuse to pickup their own food. But those same customers are quick to complain directly to the restaurant when the delivery service raises prices (which the restaurant doesn't benefit from) or food is delayed and expect compensation. Meanwhile, I will continue to drag my lazy butt up and out the door to pick my cravings up and continue to support the restaurants that deliver service and...

We visited Wing Wah for the first time tonight. When we walked in, we were seated pretty quickly. It took a while for our server to come get a drink order. When she came back with drinks we ordered some steamed pot stickers. The ambience was nice as we were waiting and deciding on what to order. We got Mongolian beef and Szechwan chicken. After the server took our order she didn't say anything about our pot stickers. She brought out some soup and sauces and we kept waiting. She ended up bringing our meal and still no potstickers. At this point, we were hungry so we started eating. After a few bites, we noticed that my husband's meal was incomplete. The egg roll, wonton, and shrimp were missing. Our server didn't say anything about this. When she finally came back to check on us we mentioned the potstickers and the fact we were missing things. She apologized and said that something was wrong with their "system." A few minutes later she finally brought out the potstickers.... but they were fried and not steamed. Shortly after we sent those back, she brought out the missing items from my husbands meal, but he was already finished eating. It's a shame that the service was so subpar because the food was actually really good. I would not suggest dining in, instead get take out. If they can find some competent staff that have a sense of urgency, I would give them...
