My parents have this weird knack for finding amazing hole in the wall restaurants and that was the case with Señor Pollo.
My parents came up to visit and asked me if I had eaten already. I said, "Oh yeah the whole company ordered lunch and I had a salad so I'm good." and my dad nearly swerves the car. "What in the hell. " he says. "Salad?" he says. My mom pulls out her phone and finds Senor Pollo is right down the street. We go because "Coño tu no eres conejo como mierda te vas a sostener con puro lechuga?" (God Bless foreign parents)
Señor Pollo is one of those places that EVERYONE should know. They have amazing fire grilled chicken and other delectable Mexican commodities. My parents and I got the whole chicken meal which comes with chicken, Tortillas, beans, rice, grilled jalapeños and onions, you know, the works. You can see them cook the chicken over this big open flame spit. The tamales are amazing. They're cheap. The chicken is the best God damn bird you will put in your mouth (I know what I said).
I think this is a family owned establishment and either they are really attentive or they don't get a lot of business because 3 months later when my parents came to visit again, the man behind the counter remembered us. I hope they're just really attentive because everyone should buy their food.
Will definitely be coming back...
Read moreIn Ogden for a disc golf tournament. When I travel I look for local, non-chain restaurants I cannot go to at home. While driving my friend and I spotted Senior Pollo and decided to give it a try. The plastic picnic tables used for seating weren't even noticed because the smell of the chickens cooking on the grill was so amazing I didn't think to look around. My eyes went directly to the grill. The first visit I ordered the street tacos. The fresh limes and green salad were so fresh and so delicious it enhanced the flavor of the pork and fresh corn tortillas. My friend had the chicken and when offered a taste I greedily accepted. The meat was melt in your mouth delicious and so juicy. I was so impressed I had to go back a second time to try the chicken myself and thank God I did. I got the half chicken with beans and rice. The chicken was cooked perfect. The skin so crispy and well seasoned. The beans and rice were a perfect compliment to the chicken. The meal was served with fresh corn tortillas and red salsa. I made 6 giant tacos that had so much flavor with the chicken, skin, beans, rice and salsa. Seriously, it may not look like much on the outside but seriously the food is so incredible the line should be...
Read moreA friend in Oregon was extolling the virtues of Al Pastor tacos for uplifting the spirit in these troubled times! I had never heard of them. Googled where I could find them in Ogden? Senior Pollo was the closest place and had great reviews! I called and ordered three different tacos (chicken, beef and pork (Al Pastor)) to go (since chicken was everyone's favorite in the reviews). They were ready in 10 minutes. When I entered the restaurant, I was met with the most delicious mouth watering aroma. Even though we are being encouraged to stay home, the grill was packed with butterflied chickens in anticipation of a healthy demand for their food during these trying times! All three were tacos delicious although I would agree with my friend that the special spiced pork in the Al Pastor was good for my soul! Ingredients were fresh, the service was fast, the price was reasonable and the atmosphere was friendly! What more could one ask for? I am so glad Senior Pollo is close. I...
