Today, 4 March 2024, myself and a girlfriend went for lunch at Charleston, on 2000 S. Meridian, OKC. We both ordered the chicken fried chicken with gravy, mashed potatoes and vegetables medley. Once our food arrived the mashed potatoes and vegetables were over seasoned (salty). We informed our server who asked if we wanted something else, she suggested several options and we both opted for the fully loaded baked potato and vegetable medley with no butter seasonings salt. We’re all humans and sometimes the cook can get heavy handed on seasoning. I understand that but the Piss poor (excuse the language) customer service is unacceptable.
NORMALLY, once a concern is voiced about your food order your plate is removed and your new meal selected is served. Unfortunately that was not the case at the Charleston at 2000 Meridian. Our original plate was left on the table.
Shortly afterwards the manager brings us two baked potatoes on the same plate and no replacement vegetables. When asked about our now Luke warm chicken fried chicken that was still in the plate from the original order, The Manager stated she could take it and REHEAT it. Really!!
I kindly asked her why would bring our replacement baked potatoes on the same plate and secondly why wasn’t our original plates taken and our new selection brought out with everything together. I said we didn’t order À la cart why is our meal being brought out one at a time. Waiting for the baked potato, now waiting on our veggies and now to take the plates back and reheat our chicken.
The manager began to raise her voice and stated I’ll just pay for your meal and box it up and guys can go because you’re not happy. WTH! I asked her why was she yelling and she said because it’s loud in here which we responded, we’re speaking low and can hear you. She was making a scene. We told her we came to eat lunch here, two items were over seasoned and You are talking loud and we didn’t come for no free meal. Needless to say, we left this Charleston on 2000 Meridians and will not just never come back, but will let everyone I know on social media about the piss poor manager. Before we left we asked for the GM who was not on site. The untrained manager on duty definitely needs retraining, better yet removal. We departed and went to the Charleston on I-240 next to Saltgrass where our waiter was Luke who provided outstanding customer service. In closing perhaps we were two African American women out for lunch and the young white untrained manager felt she could speak down to us. Her words “I’ll just pay for your meal and box it up and you guys can just...
Read moreWhere do I begin? This restaurant gave us the best experience we’ve ever had at any restaurant even before eating a single bite. All their staff seem happy and eager to help each other (which having been in the service industry and a patron of many restaurants over the years is not super common). Our waitress Maddy was super nice and didn’t try to make too much conversation or ask us in the middle of eating if we are ok which we really liked lol - hate trying to tell someone while eating that we’re good. She was the perfect amount of attentive as were the rest of the staff who always made sure our drinks were refilled as soon as we drank them. The service alone was worth returning but omg the food! Get a basket of croissants (you will thank me later). They are the best you’ll ever eat! Flakey, light, and buttery with the hint of sweet. The Cesar salads that came with our meal were perfectly dressed and had just the right amounts of cheese and croutons. The steaks 🤤 they cook them perfectly and we had the Hawaiian special sirloin that is marinated in soy sauce and pineapple juice I believe - super good and needed nothing as it’s perfectly seasoned with that kiss of char. The baked potato was the same - they do not skimp on quality ingredients and you can see this throughout every aspect down to the real chopped bacon bits and quality sour cream put on the potato. We had the fried okra on the side and also the best okra we’ve had which says a lot considering we’re born and raised Texans. They’re perfectly breaded and seasoned and the perfect amount of crispy. Desert was no exception- the carrot cake was moist, loaded with all the great things you expect from a carrot cake, topped with a melt in your mouth cream cheese icing and toasted coconut - we took croissants to go and they are good even cold. Bottom line this is a place that makes spending money a no brainer. They’ve perfected the balance between creating a great experience and serving quality food and atmosphere. Going here will not disappoint you. Although we live 3 hours away, we are already planning to come back specifically for...
Read moreCharleston’s Restaurant, located near the state fairgrounds on South Meridian Avenue in Oklahoma City, is a casual dining establishment featuring burgers, steaks, and chicken plates, and more.
We arrived for dinner shortly before 5:30. The restaurant was moderately filled, and we were able to get a table immediately. After ordering our drinks, Carson, our amiable server, explained their evening's specials before taking our order.
I selected the medium-cooked, 7-ounce hand cut filet, which was hardwood grilled and served with a loaded baked potato and house salad. The meat was flavorful and grilled perfectly. The potato was soft on the inside, crispy on the outside, and indeed loaded, the shredded cheese, bacon, and sour cream overflowing from the top.
Another selection was Walt's Champagne Chicken Salad, featuring mixed greens, pineapple, dates, feta, strawberries, spiced pecans, sunflower seeds, house-made croutons, and champagne vinaigrette. As one can imagine, the plate was an explosion of different flavors, yet well-balanced, with the pineapple particularly standing out. The dish also came with a house salad.
The only negative experience was the potato soup, which was tasty, but a bit cold.
On a side note, one must also try their croissants, which are very fresh and melt in your mouth.
Overall, Charleston's was a pleasant experience. Although the restaurant's interior is somewhat classy, the atmosphere was very relaxed, and all the patrons appeared to be enjoying themselves. This by itself is a good indicator of a restaurant whose aim...
