Very happy that my spouse and I decided to try this place. It’s so good! We had the toasted ravioli as an appetizer. Loved the melt cheese inside and fresh basil. Then I ordered the spaghetti carbonara, Spouse had the cioppino. Both came with salads but mine also came with their tomato basil soup which was delicious! The garden salad was fine, nothing special. The Caesar was fine too but I’ve had better. The dressing had a tad too much vinegar, the lettuce wasn’t only romaine but also spinach and what I think is arugula. The Parmesan cheese mixed in clumped since it was either powdered or finely grated, not shaved. The carbonara was good but it needed something…more. I think the pasta must be made fresh because it was a thicker spaghetti and had more of a chew to it. Flavor was lacking in this pasta. My spouse enjoyed his cioppino, but he did think the calamari was a bit tough and could have been cut into smaller pieces. We would definitely return here to try more items on their menu. Atmosphere was very lively. There isn’t a traditional host stand and since it was our first time there, we weren’t sure what to do. We dawdled around a few seconds before being seated. Service was excellent but a tad bit slow.

My friends and I were looking for a place that was open late at night and saw that Flip’s closes at midnight so we decided to check it out. We got to the restaurant around 10 and the host didn’t seem happy to be there. She didn’t say anything negative but her overall attitude was unpleasant. Our waiter on the other hand was much more welcoming and made our dining experience more enjoyable. For appetizers, we got the calamari, soup of the day (chicken and rice) and tomato soup. The calamari was good and the soups were both delicious! The salads on the other hand were drenched in a vinaigrette dressing which made it way too sour to enjoy. Cesar salad was decent though! As for the entree, I ordered the meatball and spaghetti. The sauce was unfortunately watery and bland, the noodles were way too overcooked, and the meatballs were just okay. For $26, you’d expect a pretty decent tasting meal but aside from the soup, everything else missed the mark. Although I’m all about supporting local family-owned businesses, this restaurant was unfortunately just not it.

Came simply for the food (lunch).Meatballs were lackluster. We picked at one and left the other. That was the only negative to the food. The Bruschetta was great and fresh. (We did add some basalmic to it though). The bread was flavorful and delicious. My mother had the chicken lasagna. The mushroom cream sauce is incredible. My step dad had the Mediterranean salad. He enjoyed it a lot. I got Shrimp Fettuccine Alfredo. It was just simple and wonderful. The noodles appeared to have been made fresh. And I could still taste flecks of parmesean in the sauce as if some didn't melt all the way down when making the sauce. The portions were good for us. And entrees were about $14 each. Felt it was a decent price for what we had. Would return for sure. They also do chalkboard specials I'd be interested in seeing. Today was smoked gouda manicotti. I was almost tempted to go with that because I bet that smoked gouda cream sauce would be wonderful.

Title: A Disheartening Experience at Flip's Wine Bar & Trattoria

I recently had the opportunity to dine at Flip's Wine Bar & Trattoria in Oklahoma City, and I must say, my experience was nothing short of disappointing. As it was my first visit, I was eager to enjoy a pleasant evening filled with good food and great service. Unfortunately, what I encountered was far from that.

From the moment we were seated, our waiter’s demeanor was off-putting. While he interacted with other customers, who did not share our background, he was cheerful, laughing, and appeared to be genuinely enjoying their company. In stark contrast, our experience with him felt starkly unwelcoming. His attitude was dismissive, and it became increasingly clear that he was not interested in providing us with the same level of service that he offered to others.

The food we received was served by other staff members who were polite and attentive, but the shadow of our waiter’s hostility loomed large over the evening. It was disheartening to feel such a palpable difference in treatment, which left us uncomfortable and questioning whether our presence was appreciated. Instead of feeling welcomed, we felt marginalized, which is not something anyone should experience when dining out.

As a first-time visitor, I had high hopes for Flip's Wine Bar & Trattoria, but the negative interaction with our waiter has overshadowed any potential enjoyment. The unwelcoming environment created by his attitude has left a lasting impression that will prevent me from recommending this restaurant to others. It’s a shame because the atmosphere and food could have been a wonderful experience. Instead, I left feeling disheartened and disappointed, wishing that my first visit could have been filled with warmth and hospitality rather than hostility and discomfort.

In a city that thrives on diversity and inclusivity, I expected better from a local establishment. I hope that the management will take this feedback seriously and work towards fostering an environment where all customers are treated with respect and kindness, regardless of their background. Until then, I cannot recommend Flip's Wine Bar & Trattoria to anyone looking for a welcoming...

Last night was my first time eating at Flips. I had actually heard a few good reviews from friends, and even from my partner who attended this dinner with me who has lived in OKC all his life. After this experience, my partner was embarrassed that he recommended this restaurant to me.

The hostess was nice and seated us right away, and the atmosphere was cozy. My partner ordered the seafood pasta (Frutti de Mare) and I ordered a simple Chicken Parmesan. On the menu it says that these entrées are served as three course meals with soup and garden salad. Upon ordering, my partner and I both asked to sub the garden salad for a caesar and the waitress said sure (we just assumed we'd get a surcharge for the substitution.) The salad was good and served promptly.

But after our salad we were given our entrées, so we politely asked the server who brought us our food (wasn't our waitress) where our soup was that was supposed to come with the meal. No big deal, people forget, it wasn't a problem. She went to tell our waitress, and when our waitress came with the soup, she shoved a metal bowl (like you would find in the kitchen) on our table, with one empty bowl (for two of us?), and walked away. I was completely offended. It turns out that when you substitute the house salad for a caesar, you no longer get the soup, but this was only explained to us after the soup was shoved on our table and we had to call our waitress over again to ask what was going on. Both the waitress's attitude and the presentation of the soup were unacceptable.

The entrées were disappointing. Although the chicken on my Chicken Parmesan was good, the linguini served under it was dry and hard. My partner's Frutti de Mare was terrible- the seafood in it was adequate, but the "sauce" was like water. It was like eating seafood on a bed of plain noodles.

I hope that management can train waitstaff to be more communicative with customers, especially when a substitution changes the meal. A simple explanation when the meal was ordered could have prevented the...

When people go out to eat, I guess one thing that they consider when they decide the place they want to eat is price vs food quality. So when they see the price of the food they are going to eat is quite high, then the food must be pretty good in order for them to keep eating there, right?

Well I didn't eat the most pricey item on the menu so I wouldn't know how those dishes taste. I had the toasted ravioli. Not a bad price. It was a good flavor I guess. I ate all of it. Ravioli was maybe a little "too" toasted. It was toasted with a capital T for sure. Alright it was burnt, but not burnt black. I mean it's not that it was hard as a rock, but it was crunchy as hell. It was like eating rock candy if I'm being quite honest. I mean, I ate it all though, so I guess it was okay for the price. It wasn't great though.

It was basically six toasted Ravioli in a salad plate with a cm of tomato sauce, garnished with julienne basil and parmigiano cheese. Speaking of the tomato sauce, it was really strained. Maybe a little "too" strained. They must have used a China cap and cheese cloth a bunch of times. Must be why there was no real flavor besides tomato. They strained it so good that they strained the flavor of the herbs out of it. So I guess you could say it was pretty much Campbell's soup. Except it was cold. Alright it wasn't cold-cold but it was below room temperature. It went well with the beer. Except the beer might have been a little warmer than that soup. I mean Tomato sauce. The beer was good. I had the Full Sail Amber. I have a really good alcohol tolerance though for sure. I know this because after I drank the beer it was like I was just drinking a non-alcoholic beer. No buzz. Not that I wanted one, because I was driving. It tasted...
