I have always loved this place since I ate there for the first time in 2020. Bummed out that the Bloody Mary no longer has the shrimp, crab, and lobster in it, but it's still the best we've ever had!! There were only 2 downers we've experienced there in all these years, and they both happened on the same trip. Ordered dinner and kitchen would not substitute the mashed potatoes with rice (not a big deal), and ordered med-rare for the steak. Came out med-well/ borderline well. Typically, it wouldn't be an issue, but when the server asked how the food was, and with prices being so high, lwe decided to kindly respond that it was overcooked. The server was a kind woman who offered a resolution after we told her we did not want to be compensated with anything. As she walked away to get a new steak, this other server (let's just say she's unnaturally energetic) turned around and invaded my significant other's personal space (like shoulder touching shoulder a few inches from his face kind of close), and proceeds to invite herself into the issue at hand (that was being handled very well by our server). She then proceeds to start "educating" us on med-well and med-rare, basically trying to argue with us. We pointed out how my other half was a retired 5-star chef and knows the difference. She wouldn't stop, though. She was pushing to argue. So, the fact that we were there on a romantic date celebrating my birthday with each other and not there too have a philosophical debate on what a med-rare steak is, he appropriately said "I want you to leave our table". She kept going on and on, pointing out that she's our servers boss, so on and so forth, but wasn't leaving us alone as requested. So again, he told her to just leave our table and walk away and tend to her own. She finally walked away and went directly to the kitchen. A minute or 2 later, the "med-rare" steak came out. It was rare, barely heated, and still cold on the inside. Quite sure that was her revenge as she made it a point to glance over for the rest of the evening and giggle. Before we left, when my other half went to the restroom, she came over to grab a plate and snidly asked if we liked the steak. Hopefully, our original server does not pick up on her habits, inside and outside (she appears to ski on white stuff, draw your own conclusions) for all that's worth. Other than that experience, an amazing restaurant with delicious food (risotto is cooked perfectly every time!). Will...
Read moreA culinary gem in Old Orchard Beach. On 8/5/2025 I had an exceptional meal at Big Daddy's (typing the name makes me laugh). The chef designed the menu and the staff cooking it know flavor and food.
The Cesar salad with white anchovies (far higher quality and less oil then others) were greatly appreciated. The Clam chowder was full of clam and had the prefect consistency and creaminess, not to liquid, not to fatty, just right.
The mixed seafood in broth (it was a special, I forget what they called it) Flavors were balanced and perfect. Lobster tale 9/10, shrimp 10/10, muscles 10/10, calamari 10/10 white fish 10/10.... ingredient's were obviously cooked separately and then combined so that nothing got overcooked .... perfect execution
Dessert was a multi layer chocolate cake and a lemon cake.... moisture and firmness of cake was wonderful. Frosting was delicious, not to sweet, not to dense.... the chocolate used was of a high quality and the lemon flavor was almost subtle, but present.
Best meal of this type that I have had in a long time. I will always spend an evening here on...
Read moreThis is the first restaurant review I’ve ever written in my life…but this place was so bad I feel the need to share. First off, the waitress was rude even as she was taking our order, and then she got every order incorrect, except for the two sides of French fries. My sister had to send back her burger because she ordered it “medium-well” and it was bleeding all over the plate. My husband has a very restricted diet and specifically requested that the salmon be made without the glaze. The salmon shows up, clearly smothered in a glaze, and when he asked the waitress what was all over it, she nearly rolled her eyes and replied “it was just sautéed”. We let her walk away and then I took a quick taste of what she had just implied was oil, and it was clearly teriyaki glaze. When she finally came back (after bringing the bloody burger back), we needed to send back his salmon. His new one didn’t show up until everyone else was done. I ordered my salad without croutons, and it came covered in croutons.
Hands down the worst restaurant experience I’ve ever loved through, if I could give zero...
