I never guessed our quick stop for a drink here would result in a humiliating experience, but that’s where the evening took us on Wednesday. My sister and I sat at a table and waited for a while before our server approached us. We ordered a drink each and finished pretty quickly before we were ready to leave. Some time went by as we sat unattended to, our server was nowhere to be found. Eventually I noticed she was sitting with a table of patrons across the way with her back facing us. More time passed and we started getting frustrated. My sister finally went up to the bar to close out our bill. Once she paid, we exited and walked up the steps and out of the basement area. We were just opening the door to leave when we heard “LADIES! LADIES IM GOING TO NEED YOU TO COME BACK!!” and saw our server rushing up the steps behind us. “I’m going to need you to come back and pay your bill!” she loudly stated again. My sister and I looked at her dumbfounded and informed her we paid at the bar with her colleague. She told us she wasn’t informed of that and instructed us to follow her back down to the bar. We insisted that we had already paid and that this was completely unreasonable, but after she pushed yet again we felt we had no choice but to follow her. She paraded us down the steps and back into the bar as other patrons stared. She pulled out the barkeep’s tablet and searched for a bit until eventually she was able to validate that we did indeed pay for the meal with my credit card. My face was hot by now. People continued to stare as we walked back out of the bar, and why wouldn’t they? It was a spectacle. This whole experience was so disrespectful. I can’t possibly imagine why this woman wouldn’t communicate with her colleagues before chasing customers down and yelling at them as they were leave. Customer service 101. Don’t accuse the client of stealing ESPECIALLY not before doing your due diligence. I’ve worked in the service industry and so has my sister-we would NEVER treat a customer this way. Needless to say I won’t...
Read moreAlice in Omaha is a spot worth checking out, especially if you're looking for a unique and trendy place to celebrate. The concept and vibe of the venue are undeniably cool—it has a chic and modern atmosphere that sets the tone for a great night out. We stopped in at midnight to celebrate a 21st birthday, and the lively energy of the place made it feel like the perfect spot for a special occasion.
The drinks were fantastic, with a well-curated menu that offers something for everyone. The bartenders know their craft, and the cocktails were both creative and delicious. The ambiance added to the overall experience, making it a memorable visit. It’s clear that a lot of thought went into designing a space that feels both upscale and inviting.
That said, the service left something to be desired. While the staff wasn’t outright rude, they weren’t as friendly or welcoming as one might hope. When we asked questions or sought recommendations, the responses felt a bit dismissive, and at one point, our server rolled her eyes, which came across as unprofessional. It seemed like a lack of training in customer interaction could be at play, as this behavior detracted from an otherwise enjoyable evening.
Despite the hiccups with service, the experience as a whole was still positive. The venue’s unique atmosphere and quality drinks overshadowed the less-than-stellar staff interactions. It’s a place I’d recommend to friends, particularly for those looking to celebrate or enjoy a night out in a stylish setting.
With some improvement in staff training and customer service, Alice could easily become one of Omaha’s top destinations for nightlife. Overall, it was a cool experience, and I’d return to give it another shot...
Read moreGorgeous craft cocktails in a cozy rabbit hole that's dressed to the nines! Alice has been on my list of places to go for quite a while and I finally managed to mark it off the "places I've never been" list a couple weeks ago. You enter through an intentionally uninspiring and underwhelming stairwell to the basement but upon entering the bar, your senses are enveloped in a spectacular, warm, intimate space filled with a multitude of things to capture your eye and imagination. The menus come in book form (a delightful detail) that uses my absolute favorite print finish.. trust me-just run your fingers over the menu book cover. Drinks are almost too pretty to drink and while my first ever gin fizz took some time to make, it was well worth the wait. Not a place to go if you're wanting to get drunk on cheap drinks. This place is pricey and classy but you get what you pay for. The bartender was really good but he seemed to be the only person making drinks and serving drinks which meant a significant wait for drinks. Although there were a couple people working the bar area, they seemed more interested in checking their phones instead of serving drinks or taking orders. We might have stayed for another if we could have placed another drink order with someone. Normally I would deduct stars for poor service, but I really did enjoy the overall experience from my drink, right down to the dish decor' and really cool wallpaper. In fact, if you go, and you should at least once.... you have to check out the wallpaper. At first I was like, eeeew. But upon closer inspection, I changed my mind. It's all in the details and at a place like Alice, it's the details that make all...
