Elie’s Chinchorro was a lackluster experience for us. The food was good, but the service and time to get ordered was not good. The place is very cute inside and somewhere I had been wanting to try for a while. We were sat right away. We were one of 7 tables when we arrived so not crazy busy or anything. Waters and menus came out quick and some complimentary bread showed up soon after which was very tasty. The issues started after that we didn’t have our order taken or see our server for 45 minutes. There were multiple servers helping other tables just not ours. Once we finally got our order taken the food took another 20 minutes or so which is completely fine in my opinion. Everything came out fresh. We had a beef and pork empandilla. The pork was definitely the star of the two, had awesome depth of flavors bouncing around your mouth. Beef was still good just would stick with pork next time. We wanted to try multiple things so we ordered the Truya which is a sampler platter, the plantains were very good, the chicken chiccaron and fried pork were both good. The turnover and alcapurria were also good just wish we had a salsa of sorts to put on them to help with some dryness. I also ordered the pernil al horno plate. The roasted pork was very good, ton of flavor, not dried out at all. The habichuelas (beans) were amazing tons of flavor used them as a dipping sauce for some of the platter items since we didn’t have salsas. Overall the food is good if you don’t mind waiting a long long time for service. Would maybe try it again for apps and drinks. Not sure I’d be back for lunch/dinner without a tester of service for drinks and apps.

We drove by this place a few times and were so excited to try. I love Puerto Rican food and my fiancée has never tried it. We walk in and asked to sit at a table in which she walked to a table different then we asked for. I reiterated one table and she said ok. We ordered a few small items and they took forever to come. Appetizers not a meal. The price for the portion is awful. The queso frito are small cubes about 10 of them and not worth the price. Same thing for the papa rellenos. The food was good and seasoned well but again overpriced and took way too long. We were never asked how the food was. Service was very poor. They defintely gravitated towards latin people more than us. We were the only people of color there. Felt that vibe the whole time. People would come right in and be greeted and get food quickly. We asked for a straw for the water twice. At this point we asked for the rest of the food to go. The server asked my fiancé if he knew how to pay with the QR code. Only time she asked if we needed help with anything. It just wasn’t a very good experience and we won’t be returning. Poor service tends to happen a lot these days at many establishments. When people spend their money and are excited to try something you would think the establishment would welcome you with open arms. It wasn’t that for us.

What an EXPERIENCE. I say that because it wasn’t dinner just dinner. I called Elie that morning to notify her that I would be bringing a birthday party of 8-10 in for my wife at 6:30. Upon arrival it was ready to go with waters.

The vibe is warm and inviting. The sounds of islands and decor instantly took me back to being in Puerto Rico. An amazing elderly couple we’re hosting karaoke and some of the local talent did not disappoint. Families were booths clapping and singing along. All ages and ethnicities. It was wonderful.

We started with MOJITOS (they’re known for ‘em). Plenty of options to choose from and all amazing. I hade mango, wife had blueberry. Also had a PIÑA COLADA and it tasted so fresh it took me back to the islands again. We’re just on drinks. Got to start with some apps right? Went with platter sampler (the TRUYA) . A lil of this and a lil of that. Everyrhing was amazing. Grilled meats, stuffed pastry with rice and more beef. The spices slapped me in the face and boom. Back there again on the island.

The best thing about being at dinner with a group of your close friends or family is you share. Everyone had something different from the menu that we all had a bite of from the CUBAN SANDWICH, to the MOFONGO with whatever protein you want to add to it (all amazing), to the AY BENDITO! Presentation of the plates are gorgeous. Vibrant colors. Steam rising off the dish. Everything was. So. Good.

Elie came out to check on all the guests. She spent some time with us checking to see how everything is going. Even refilling waters. The karaoke couple I spoke about earlier sang Feliz Compliaños to her. Everyone in the restaurant was in greats spirits enjoying the scents, the music, laughter, each other’s company. It was magical.

Do yourself a treat and go EXPERIENCE Elie’s...

Love the food and atmosphere of the place. I have visited various times within the last year and always recomend the place. However our last visit I was very dissapointed with the customer service after I left the place. I was with a group of 6 so our bill came out to be a little over $560, which was supposed to be split between 2 people. My half was $281. Long story short, when I got home after leaving the place I checked my bank account and found they had charged me the total ammount plus my half. $800+... I did my part by contacting the restaurant to let them know and asked for a refund. They apologized and said they had this issue with their system in the past. Took my info and requested screenshots of the bank transactions as proof which I provided. They said they would get back to me after reviewin. No one contacted me. I Reached out again a day after and spoke to the owner who was clueless about the situation. She apologized and took my info again, also said she would reach out after reviewing and I'm now on day 5 of waiting to hear back. I had to contact my bank and dispute the charges because I did not see any interest in the staff in resolving the issue. I would've been more flexible with timing if the ammount they withdrew was not as much but we are talking about over $500... Just very dissapointed because I had never had a bad experience here and the food is amazing. As a paying customer I expected a little more attention to this matter. If I ever visit again I might consider just...
