My friends and I recently visited Flora Cafe for a girls’ brunch. Walking in, the space was absolutely beautiful, and we were excited to be seated upstairs. Since the cafe is new, we expected a few kinks, but unfortunately, the overall experience left us disappointed.
We noticed there wasn’t a drink menu available yet, which we assumed was part of them still settling in. When we tried ordering drinks, there was a lot of back-and-forth about what was available, and the drinks we received didn’t taste as described some weren’t sweet at all despite asking for them to be.
When it came to food, one friend received her plate almost immediately, but it didn’t include the eggs she ordered. Another friend was given the wrong meal entirely, and when she let the server know, he took the plate away only to bring it to another table moments later, which felt unsanitary and confusing.
When our meals arrived, the food was cold. My omelet was tough and spongy, and the pancakes were dry so much so that the kids didn’t even want to eat them.
The pricing also felt off. I was charged nearly $100 for just an omelet and pancakes. The receipt didn’t show a breakdown, and it seemed like the server was struggling to use the payment system. My friends were also charged varying high amounts ($80, $60, and $73) despite each ordering just one meal.
We had hoped to speak with the owner, Kaylie, but the cafe was very busy, and we didn’t want to add more stress. In the end, we all agreed this isn’t a place we’d return to, which is truly disappointing we were really looking forward to supporting a new spot and had...
Read moreThe food here is good! But the service is horrible. Wait time to get a table was 20 mins, I asked if we could be seated outside since the tables where empty, I also saw a high top table empty but since I had my son with me I didn’t request that table. They told me I couldn’t be seated outside since the wait time was the same but mind you it was an empty area, and the restaurant itself was not packed. We waited to be seated for 25mins when we finally were seated it took about 20 mins to be acknowledged by someone (the waiters were just standing around the coffee area talking) we had already been there so we knew what we wanted to drink but the server approached us and said “you guys don’t have a drink menu” gave us one and left before I could even say anything. She didn’t come back for another 15mins when she did I told her we wanted to order our food and beverages at the same time. A different server came to our table 3 times trying to give us other drinks we did not order. It took another 30mins to get our food, by the time we got our food our drinks were already watered down. We weren’t offered water we had to request it. Along with salsa for my sopes and syrup for the pancakes. The tortillas for my husbands dish was also forgotten and by the time he got them they were flour instead of the corn he initially requested we didn’t say anything because the waiter never came back to check on us. We had to hunt her down to get our check. Over all we will not be coming back or recommending this place, its a shame since the...
Read moreThis place recently opened, and my friends and I stopped by around 11 AM for brunch. I ordered the matcha, CHILAQUILES, pitaya bowl, BLANQUILLOS RANCHEROS, and cafe canela. The food was absolutely delicious, and the interior was beautifully designed — great vibes overall.
However, we did have a serious issue with the service. One of my friends is allergic to sour cream, and she informed the server twice about her allergy. Despite this, the CHILAQUILES came out with sour cream on them. When we pointed it out, the server took the plate back, but instead of preparing a new one, they just scraped off the sour cream and added cheese to try and cover it up. We could still see the sour cream underneath, and if my friend had eaten it, it could have sent her to the hospital.
When we brought this up again, the server finally brought out a fresh plate, which we appreciated — but the situation should never have happened in the first place. On top of that, my CHILAQUILES came with beef even though I specifically asked for it without. While we were there, we noticed several other tables also having issues with incorrect orders.
I understand the staff might still be new, but this is exactly when customer service needs to be your top priority. I’m writing this review not to criticize harshly, but to bring your attention to what’s happening on the floor. Your food is amazing — but unless the service improves, it will be hard to build...
