Surprisingly worth the wait! My wife and I tried this place on a whim because the name and menu reminded us of a long-gone favorite. The short version: we were a bit grumpy after waiting 48 minutes for our order, but after digging in we couldn't stay upset. The long version: we ordered a shrimo po boy and a snapper/oysters/shrimp combo, with fries, mac & cheese, collard greens, and red beans and rice. Also a strawberry cake for dessert. The aforementioned wait was a bit awkward, as it looked very busy and we we were reluctant to interrupt an already strained flow. Plus I was amazed at how much the smells coming from the kitchen replaced much of my annoyance with eager anticipation. Eventually, we were told that our order was being boxed, and a few minutes later we hurried home with our dinner., Everything was absolutely delicious. The seafood was perfectly seasoned, and all the sides complemented the flavor beautifully. I noticed that there had been an apparent mistake in the kitchen, as I had asked for just my snapper to be grilled. Instead I received all three items grilled, but they added an extra container of the shrimp and oysters fried. Loved them all, and grateful to get the "oopses" as a bonus. Additionally, we noticed that instead of the half-pint sides we ordered, we had actually been given full pints. I surmise that this was a way of making up for the lengthy wait. While this was more than adequate, it might have helped to get bit of communication about it from the staff. Still, anyone can have an off day, and the food was so delightful that I am more than happy to give them a second...
Read moreI came here cuz I came from Ontario mills mall and wanted fried seafood. I live an hour away. First impression, light skinned lady come at me cuz I have my service dog, she says right away, “he’s not allowed in here, l’m allergic, is he a service dog?” I said yes I have my card. I let that bypass and order. I start timing. It’s 3pm. Several people come in after me to order, not including DoorDash people. It’s now 3:30pm and I get up to ask where my food is. Same lady with dog issues says we’re short staffed and we’ll get to you. Told her I don’t have a receipt and if they have my name. She said yes, you’re in the system. I give them 15 more minutes, mind you everyone else already got their food, including those that ordered after me. I’m livid at this point. They check in the back and turns out no one started cooking my food. I said I want my money back, I come far and I gotta go. Manager comes out and asks if I was in the restaurant the whole time. I said yes, by the door. But what the hell does that have anything to do with seeing me in the restaurant if your employee tells me I’m in the system??! Manager is totally Gaslighting me. Never got my food but at least I got my refund. Don’t come here unless you’re BLACK or latino. I’m asian and told them they discriminated against me and it started with my dog and they’re unprofessional. They only cater to Black folks and latinos. And don’t even try responding to me manager acting all innocent and doing more gaslighting. I see right thru you. You know what you did and the kind of...
Read moreSubject: Serious Issue with Food Poisoning Incident – Urgent Attention Needed
Dear [FISH HOOK SEAFOOD] Management,
I am writing to inform you of a serious and deeply concerning incident following our visit to your restaurant on October 14, at approximately 5:30 PM. My husband ordered a dinner plate with red snapper and shrimp, along with sides of greens and macaroni salad. Unfortunately, later that night, my husband became violently ill and experienced severe food poisoning.
What makes this situation even more alarming is that my husband has a life-threatening heart condition. The symptoms he endured not only caused immense distress but also led us to believe his heart might be affected. This is not something we take lightly, and frankly, it’s unacceptable that dining at your establishment put his health at serious risk.
We know for a fact that your food caused this illness, as it was the only meal we had that day. While we both ate most of the same items, the macaroni salad stands out as the likely culprit, as I did not eat it and did not experience any symptoms.
I strongly suggest you review your food handling practices immediately, as this is a serious public health concern. We expect a thorough investigation and a response explaining what will be done to ensure this doesn’t happen to anyone else. As a paying customer, I should not have to worry about my husband’s life being endangered by something as basic as a meal.
I hope this matter is taken seriously, and I look forward to your prompt...
