Me and my mother were very disappointed with the discrimination and coldness we experienced in this store when we were simply looking for a wedding dress to purchase. We were approached by 2 different employees that told us we need to wear a mask to be in the store, we informed them both that we can not wear a mask and they told us that we still needed one and that they were going to get a manager. The manager came and told us that we could not be in the store without a mask and told us they would not serve us. You expect a manager to be professional, kind, and willing to work with customers who only wish to spend their money in the store... that was not our experience. We informed her that we could not wear one, that there was no one else around us (except for the employees who continued to harass us around the store), and that we would not ask for any assistance from them. We even said we would not try anything on, we would just make our choice by looking. We tried to accommodate their unlawful policy and even then we were refused. I asked her what accommodations, AS REQUIRED BY LAW, do they make for people who do not wear masks. She shrugged her shoulders and said they would give us a face mask. We explained to her again that we can not wear one and that providing something we can not wear is not an accommodation. She continued to say that they would provide a mask. We asked her if she would like to see the laws that protect our rights to shop in a public place. She refused. She then decided to call security on us. It was quite ironic to be treated like a criminal when she was the one breaking the law and exasperating the situation. The security guard was kind and listened to what we had to say. We explained to him the situation and he was understanding and tried to work with us and the manager to get to a resolution. This is what leadership and professionalism looks like. The manager just called security and left so after he spoke with us he had to go find the manager and was gone for about 8 min or so before he returned. Long story short, this store discriminates and was insistent on breaking the law. We considered purchasing online but have since decided against it. We will not be doing business with unethical businesses. I urge Camille La Vie to learn the laws that their policy violates so their employees are not open to legal ramifications for enforcing an unlawful policy. My advice to the employees, learn the laws for yourself because you can be personally (not the company) held responsible for your actions of discrimination and acting as a medical professional giving out medical advice. Yes, telling someone they HAVE to wear a mask (which covers their mouth and nose negatively effects the immune system and the respiratory system) is medical advice. You are not a doctor or any kind of medical professional. Practicing medicine without a license is a crime. Masks are medical devices, you have no right to enforce a medical intervention on anyone. Not even a doctor can force a medical intervention, what has made you think that you can? Your policy is not above the law! Your policy can not be outside the confines of the law. I hope that is understood. Also, please understand that your store is a PUBLIC accommodation. A public accommodation is defined by law as a private business that is open to the public for things such as commerce. You do not have the right to refuse me or anyone service who has come into your store peacefully, within business hours. This is the definition of discrimination. You singled me and my mother out and refused us service and kicked us out of your store. This is very troubling to have experienced. I hope that at the very least, you all take the time to educate...
Read moreThey have become fat phobic. I am beyond sad to write this review. I have found such amazing dresses here in the past, but now that I am shopping for a wedding dress I had the most insulting most horrendous experience in my life with them. I am not a super small or skinny girl. Iâm whatâs usually considered midsized, close to plus sized. Now, some dresses will have a different idea of what that is, but for every day clothing, that is what I am considered.
I went in and started looking at the wedding dresses and a few others and noticed the sizes were ranging in the very small range. I found a nice wedding dress but they only had size 2, 4, and 6 on the hook. My fiancĂ© was with me and thought they must only put a few sizes out so he went to grab someone and see if they maybe had some in the back. He said the lady told him that for some dresses they do have other sizes than whatâs out, but they can always order some too. He said she was nice and smiles, but as soon as she got to me and the dress we were looking at she looked at me, lost her smile, didnât even look at the dress and said the plus sizes were in a different part of the store and they donât carry these dresses in âthatâ kind of size range. She then left right away leaving my fiancĂ© and I stunned.
I tried to shake it off and found some wedding dresses to try on. Now, if youâve been in the store you know they have two dressing rooms. One for the bridal gowns with that little stage in the middle of a curving set of mirrors and seats for others to give their opinions. Iâve seen measuring for alterations being done there as well. Then one for the other dresses that are small rooms with one mirror in the room. We found the lady working the bridle section and asked if I could try on the dresses we found and again she looked at me took the dresses, made a um noise as she looked towards the bridle dressing room and then said âno weâll go to these roomsâ and took me to the other dressing rooms. I was put in a very small room that made even trying to get the gown with a lot of puffiness to the skirt on hard and she âcouldnât help do up the back because sheâd have to leave the door open to fitâ I had to hold the dress closed in the back and imagine it done up, and I couldnât look at the train at all.
I decided to leave at this point. Not wanting to be rude to the lady I told her I didnât like it and her response was âyeah each dress has its own size range and we really donât sell the ones I think youâd need. Iâm not sure where would either.â
By the way, the largest dress we could find was a 20. I remember needing to sort through sizes that went much higher than that in the past.
In conclusion, if you need a dress and are anything above a 12 now, you might get the same treatment. If youâre on the higher side of midsize like me, you have a high chance of getting this...
Read moreI purchased a dress from this store and before I paid I looked at the dress for any defects etc etc... and noticed a few threads sticking out of the sleeves. I brought it to the cashiersâ (karina) attention and she told me nothing was wrong with the dress. But after I got home to take another close look at it I noticed it was missing a couple rhinestones and thatâs why there were threads sticking out. I am very disappointed that the cashier knew of the defect but didnât seem to care or offer a discount. Their sales are final and Iâm stuck with a dress that wasnât worth what I paid for. I called the store and instead of offering a discount they offer to fix it but that just means I have to drive far and waste my time again when they couldâve just gave me a discount right and then! I mean they noticed it was missing the rhinestones, they just pretended they didnât see anything wrong with it. The cashier told me that nothing was wrong with the dress and to just cut the threads! Be very careful when you buy from them and make sure to look at the dress carefully for details a couple times before you hand them your final $$$. I donât want to purchase from them again or even recommend the...
