Rotolo's Pizzeria — Restaurant in Orange Beach

Hands down BEST pizza in Orange Beach and Gulf Shores area! The pizza sauce is made from scratch daily as is their pizza dough. I highly suggest the Spinach dip appetizer (it has a little kick to it), the Maui Wow pizza, and the Italian Club sandwich. Their Lasagna is incredible too and comes in a large enough portion to split if you get an appetizer first. On a sidenote, I would stay away from the Chicken Parmesan...the noodles underneath the chicken get a little dry and the breading of the chicken is mediocre. It is definitely worth the wait if you arrive at dinner time.

I am a local and I just want to add some pointers for summertime traffic... -Pick up orders: Order in advance with a specific requested time for your pickup. If you try to call in or use web ordering during peak hours, there is a good chance these options will be unavailable.

-Dining in for Dinner: Go early! Arrive before 8-8:30pm to ensure your name gets on the wait list so you can be seated before the KITCHEN closes at 10pm.

-Kindness & Empathy: Please show our service industry workers some compassion and understanding during these difficult post-pandemic times. Restaurants all across the area are suffering shortage of staff and are having to adjust their hours of operation and/or the days they are able to open accordingly - so be kind to the ones who show up to work and serve you. No matter how frustrated you might feel, I can promise you these employees are feeling even more so and have been feeling this way for weeks/months on end. Many of the employees are working 12-14 hour days for 5-6 days a week in grueling conditions, unable to scarf down a meal, on their feet the entire time and must deal with agitated hangry guests. Please remember the employees who are showing up want to be there, want to feed you and your families, and hope to make you happy. It's unfortunate the restaurants must turn away guests on occasion (because I promise they want to serve as many as possible and turn a profit) but if they do not, they are overworking their already low staff to exhaustion - and I am not using the word lightly - which only adds to the problem. To me, the places who are putting the care of their employees over the conquest of making every last penny possible are the heroes right now! This is not just about Rotolos - this is about almost every restaurant in the community and many other tourist/resort communities. Please be patient, be kind...and plan ahead. You will have a...

Imagine the disappointment that 6 people felt after taking the time to research local pizza restaurants in the Orange Beach area and select the restaurant that had the highest reviews and was selected to be the best place in Orange Beach for pizza ,that everything that you read was not anything like what your party of 6 received. We arrived shortly after 6 pm ,were seated promptly and from that point on everything went down hill. It took a little too long to receive our drinks . We finally get our drinks and order appetizers. They came out in timely fashion so the slow arrival of drinks was forgotten. The time between the arrival of appetizers and the time we ordered was excessive,but was an instant compared to the time we finally received our meals . We waited about an hour and 20 minutes before our meals came out. Other dinners in the restaurant came in ordered, ate and left before our meals ever arrived. A table of 9 sat down outside and received their meals before us. All the while our waitress kept telling us that our food would be ready in 20 minutes then 10 minutes then 5 minutes and so on and so forth. By the time the food arrived we were so disappointed with the whole experience that most in our party just wanted to leave . Instead, after waiting so so long we did eat our meals. The lasagna was cold , the cauliflower pizza was cold . The topping on one of the pizzas was conspicuously absent .There was very little toppings on the Popeye Pizza. The other 3 meals were fine . I was surprised that the manager never offered to make ammens. When we called her over she made excuses about being short staffed and said that we had only waited 48 minutes after our order was put in . I'm sorry but that is not accurate account of the real wait time .Like I said earlier, our wait time was more like an hour and 20 minutes. Asked by our waitress if this was our first time there we responded, THIS IS OUR LAST TIME THERE. The whole dinning experience was ruined by the untimely delay of our meals . We must have come on an off night. We were extremely disappointed in the service, especially. When we came in, the hostess seemed very annoyed and frustrated. We sat down and drink orders were taken. Drinks came, and we ordered a large pizza, two kids pizzas, and a salad. Kids pizzas came out, then the large pizza, and no sign of the salad. Everyone else was over halfway done with pizzas, and still no salad. Our waitress was nowhere to be found, so I asked the hostess about the salad and she was very annoyed. She said that there were only 4 people working in the back and our waitress was in the back trying to make all of the salads. It finally came, being dropped off by another person. At this point, everyone had been out of drinks for quite some time. Not a single person checked on us for anything, other than dropping food off. When our waitress came by, we told her that we were ready for the check and asked if they do refills. She laughed and said she would bring new cups. She finally came back, but every drink was wrong except two. She took the incorrect full drinks back, and brought out two more that were right, but still not enough refills for everyone at the table. At this point, we just decided that it was time to leave. We gave her our card for payment, and she swiped it, then continued to walk around taking drinks and delivering food to other tables with our card in her hand the whole time. When she finally brought it back, she tried giving the card to the wrong person before walking away. The sweet people at the table beside us noticed everything that was going on and even they commented on the lack of service and events that were taking place. Overall, we were just extremely disappointed. Unfortunately, we will not be returning, and I'm not so sure that some of the other people there tonight...
