Let me tell you somethin'... I initially found this place on a late night after work and wanted wings. I saw a picture of their Crackin' Ghost Wings as the featured photo and I was sold. I paid this place a single visit and I was HOOKED.
Atmosphere/Appearance: This place is in a huge "strip mall" of sorts, but I'd rather call it a mini-city. There's a movie theater here, people can buy apartments above the stores, there's restaurants everywhere, it's NICE here. So The Last Page is tucked away across from Pinstripes and the valet stand. There's an outdoor section for the warmer months. Once inside you are transported into a futuristic, modern utopia of sorts. The restaurant is wide-open giving you the impression that this place is huge. There are booths around the perimeter and tables right in the middle with the beautiful well-lit bar right at the back. The ceiling is kinda wild too! I love the feeling this place gives me just by being here.
Service: Reine (a manager who know longer works here) welcomed me in with open arms and Joy was my bartender who took care of me. I haven't seen her in a while, but Desiree is who I've been seeing lately! Everyone here is just so friendly, helpful and makes you feel welcomed.
Food: I've been here several times and have had quite a few dishes. Let's start from the top...
The Last Manhattan: It consists of barrel-aged Bulleit rye, carpano antica, fee bros orange bitters and served with applewood smoke. It was Earthy, a bit sweet, delicious, rounded with a good burn from that rye. It was well balanced and the smoke was so... refreshing if I can say that?
Mai Tai: It consists of Appleton Estate rum, rhum clement, orgeat, lime, sugar cane and fire. It comes served in the cutest ceramic fish cup then lit on fire right in front of you. It was tropical, light, refreshing and a little on the sweet side, but that's kind of what you'd expect from a drink you're supposed to be drinking on a beach... in Cleveland.
Grilled Broccolini: Toasted panko, crispy garlic, parmesan, romesco. The presentation was phenomenal and delivered amazing aromas. It was SO FLAVORFUL from the char to the cheesiness to the soy and umami flavors. Well done.
Cracklin' Ghost Wings: THESE along with the dranks Big Dezzi creates are single-handedly what keeps me coming back. These are made with a sweet & spicy dry rub then served with an umami ranch. The batter is light, airy and fluffy. The chicken is rich, hot and cooked well. The flavors don't pop like a sauced wing, but they're definitely there. There isn't much spice, but if you want it, just bite the dried pepper on your plate.
Broken Yolk Fried Rice: Presentation is ON POINT. Joy recommended this to me so I had to try it. It's a dome of fried rice topped with light peppers, kimchi, spinach and a nice seat for a single egg yolk. The rice was cooked perfectly. It was soft, creamy, smooth, garlicy, flavorful, salty and was just plain GOOD.
The Last Word: Made with Four Peel Watershed gin, luxardo cherry, chartreuse, lime juice then topped with a rosemary bubble that has some smoke in it! The flavors were so complex and worked so well. The rosemary/lavender smell enters your nose as you put the glass to your face. There's no grape in the drink, but I sure tasted some!
Swiss & Salty: Dark chocolate Swiss roll, ganache, coffee cream and served with salted caramel ice cream. Presentation is another 10/10. It was smooth, rich, a tiny bit salty and just overall GREAT. The ice cream was a perfect complement with its... you guessed it, bold salted caramel creamy flavors.
Value: You gon' pay to play here. It's a nice place so be prepared to spend, but it's not Michelin Star level. However, the secret is to come for happy hour from 3:00pm to 6:00pm Tuesday through Sunday. All wines by the glass, beers and signature cocktails are 1/2 off! Some appetizers (including the wings) are heavily discounted.
Like I said before, I love this place SO MUCH and am missing it right now as I write this review. Check this place out and tell...
Read moreAbsolutely terrible experience. It started fine until the food came out. The waiter was nice. But there was definitely a lack of communication in the restaurant with the staff. There were 5 of us but only 4 plates came out. I ordered steak and eggs. Our waiter came by about 10 mins after the others received their food and said he would check in the kitchen to see what happened. Another waiter dropped off donuts we didn’t order without saying a word to our table. So we thought it was a mistake. Our waiter finally comes back after another 10 mins and says they are still working on it. He said the donuts were from the kitchen since my steak was taking too long. But I’m gluten free which the waiter wrote on my ticket for the kitchen so I couldn’t even have the donuts. Since the person who dropped them off said literally nothing, they warm donuts were not warm by the time the waiter came back to tell us they were ours. Another 10 mins pass and I finally get my steak and eggs. Naturally everyone else is practically done eating. The steak was medium and not well done as I asked but I still ate it because my party was ready to go. My friend asked what could be done for the inconvenience (I was in the bathroom when he asked) and he was told the manager would come over. Well the manager didn’t and when I got back the waiter said the only thing they can say is sorry. We kept going back and forth delivering messages between the waiter and manager until I said , I want the manager to come to the table. His name was Kevin. He was so rude to me from the beginning. I was shocked. I disturbed him for whatever he was doing and made to feel that way with his attitude. It was not like it was busy because there were only 3 other tables with people. Kevin told me that there was nothing to be done and would not even admit to their mistake or apologize for it. He then brought up the free donuts and I told him about my dietary restriction. He made a face and finally said he’d give me 20% off my bill.
I was fine with the 20% because I did eat the meal (which was mediocre). But this review is because the entire experience was horrible. I didn’t do anything wrong, but I felt he was trying to make me feel like I was at fault somehow. Customer service is absolutely lacking. It was so obvious that I was inconvenienced and my entire party because the kitchen forgot to cook my food. The waiter knew and the kitchen did too. And ultimately, Kevin knew as well, but handled it very poorly. He either needs more training or should not be in a manager position. My friends were appalled and I was too. I will never go...
Read more07/17/25: We used to enjoy this restaurant but have not been here in couple of years. Extremely dissapointed. Came here for my son's birthday so pretty large party. With few exceptions (NY Strip and Truffle Orecchiette), most of the food was oversalted and oversauced. One of the appetizers we had to send back, it was that bad. I am not sure what happened but restaurant just couldnt' get their timing or they just like bringing dishes one at a time. Someone at our party would get appetizers, others would not. When one person finishes main course, the other 2 people would get theirs. So at any given time only 2-3 people had their food. It is very unusual for my wife not to try the dessert. She couldn't even bring herself to try the dessert here. But the highlight of the evening was a birthday sunday The prices are upscale, the food is not. Would not be able to recommend this restaurant, as much as it pains me to say so.
After our last (less than impressive) visit, we decided to try this restaurant again. And, oh, what a difference a visit can make! First, we were seated in their private room and this place is really neat, definitely check it out (and when you are sitting in the private room, you also get a visit from the chef, which is a definite bonus). I let my family do the ordering so we got to try many different things. Last Chicken Sandwich (very good, has a good kick to it because of banana peppers) - my son really liked it; Crispy Potatoes - really good and solid; Broccolini - very good; Tuna Tartare - good, average; Broken Egg Fried Rice - very good for fried rice (but I mean, what can you really do with the fried rice); Simple Salad - very good; Truffle Orecchiette - I don't eat noodle-type dishes so I am not a good judge of it but this is truly one of my daughter's favorite dishes so it was outstanding (in her opinion). My daughter had a sour patch for the drink - she really enjoyed it. For Dessert, we really wanted to try their signature Sweet and Salty but they were out so we went for their dessert special of the day - their version of Apple Pie and it was very good (not as good as Sweet and Salty but still very solid).
Overall, much better experience than last time. This is a special occasion type of place (be prepared to spend around $75-$100/person for full dinner) but definite contender for the upper echelons of restaurants in...
