UPDATE: 11/22/24
Sad day.
Well, it finally happened. Our dog Cooper passed away today... but not until after his last cheeseburger from Burger King in OC.
I skipped the drive-through and went in to buy it hoping to see Kameron again, but he was not working today. The young woman who did help us knew of our story, was clearly shaken. Nonetheless, she served up Coop's perfect last supper.
As we talked, we learned that we are all Christians, and, oddly, this made the loss that much more bearable. To her, to Kameron and to the entire BK crew thank you for making these tragic days so much more bearable. May God bless you all.
Original post: Last Saturday I had an extraordinary experience with BK Oregon City employee Kameron. I went in to buy 2 plain hamburgers - no seasoning, no condiments - just bun and meat. Kameron took care of it promptly, exactly as requested. As I was about to leave, he asked if there was a problem with the way BK normally prepares burgers, with salt, pepper, ketchup, mustard and pickle. With an obvious lump in my throat I said "No... it's just that our dog prefers them plain". You see, Cooper, our 14 year old German Shepherd/Australian cattle dog mix is dying slowly from liver disease and hadn't eaten anything in three weeks. We thought "well, every dog will eat a hamburger" so we zipped over to McDonalds... only because it was closer. Coop sniffed it, then stuck out his tongue to taste it before turning away from it. Apparently he prefers his burger "his way"!
My wife suggested we try Burger King, and that's where I was waited upon by Kameron. When I told him the story of Cooper, he was visibly touched and offered a vanilla ice cream cup to top it off.
Well... Coop wolfed down the burgers and was nosing around the papers for a third one. FINALLY he had eaten something!
I know, it's not ideal nutrition for a pooch, but this old boy is in the final quarter of the game, and he needed to eat. AND he slept like a pup that night, which means we ALL slept well for the first time in weeks.
Needless to say, I was back at BK yesterday for another meal for Coop. Kameron was there, prepared it perfectly, and kindly asked about our boy as he wrapped up the day's order. I showed him a picture of Coop proudly wearing the BK crown that Kameron had sent home with me the previous day. Kameron laughed, then whipped out his phone and took a picture of King Coop. Kameron was so engaged and kind, I could barely speak to say thank you.
To the owners/managers of BK Oregon City - I hope that you appreciate the incredible employee and customer servant that you have in Kameron. As a business owner myself, I assure you that his behavior is exemplary. Cooper and I think he deserves a bonus! A BIG one.
And to Kameron, our sincere thanks to our new friend. We'll be back...
Read moreI've not eaten a Whopper in over 5 years, maybe 10! Everyone has their favorite places to go for a quick burger (mine is a Freddy's, but they don't have any near Portland). I ordered a Whopper, fries, Hershey pie and never had before chicken fries.
The Whopper was really good (a tad too many pickles). Definitely a must get again. This time sooner than 5-10 yrs.
The fries.... Not so good. Actually, they should change to something else. Rotten spots, and soft are not appetizing.
Chicken fries....are just a chicken nugget made long. Spongy chicken....no appeal to rebuy.
Hershey pie was a tasty treat. I'd buy again.
The OC Burger King was decorated very family friendly for Easter. It's a nice touch for kids, but maybe a tad too much for random patrons. But it was nice to see in a fast food chain.
So.... here lies the problem and why I may not return. It's the FRIES. I want to buy a burger AND FRIES. Fix the fries. At least in the meantime, make them crispier, but not sure it will be enough to help.
This Burger King had been here for around 40 years when I used to come when in high school in the 80's. There's so much competition so close and everyone had their favorite places. Fix the fries and beat the competition. And if you need to cut cost, just look at what you throw out because it didn't sell, cut it off the menu and upgrade those fries.

Read moreThe franchise owner of this establishment needs to be a responsible adult and take control of their investment. I "dined" in and it was a horrible experience. A manager and several employees had an argument right in front of me. I was the only customer, and it took five minutes to be acknowledged. After two times of relaying my simple order, it was still placed incorrectly. I paid anyhow. Fries were cold, over salted. Tomato and lettuce were half of what other franchises apply, and looked...not fresh. Dining area was pretty unsanitary. The drink machine was empty except for Mellow Yellow and Coke. As I sat, knowing I was going to write a review I watched the staff. I simply could not believe that with at least eight employees on the clock, I could see no work taking place. Two employees were leaning against prep surfaces and all were goofing off, laughing, and hitting each other with their hats. During this time, two cars came through the drive through, and one take out customer, in the span of about 20 minutes. I usually take it easy on fast food service, but this was appalling. Not one ounce of pride in their teams store was shown. Again, to the franchise owner....take responsibility. This is a prime location, and it is currently an embarrassing representation of our...
