My stars have severely been taken down, after eating here quite a few times, and the ULTIMATE, going in for a Valentine's Day meal, this evening...
Although MOST of the staff is incredible, there ARE a few who need some attention, for sure. The following instances are all where I was served poorly, from a place that gets a lot of four stars:
●The staff (bartenders/servers, mid-afternoon, mid-week) were tolerating a clearly drunk man SHOUTING comments to his buddies for over 45 minutes in the bar portion. While other patrons couldn't hear the person in front of them over this guy, why did no one in that establishment kindly ask him to lower his voice or stop serving him... WHY?! (If they keep serving the drunk, they get more money, right?)
●Upon greeting us one evening, our server proceeded to divulge seven minutes of her personal life over her three previous days. In doing so, she forgot to offer up the day's specials. I also saw her serve a CLEARLY intoxicated man a few drinks. (OLCC frowns upon that.)
●A steak (of any kind) should NEVER be completely charred/burnt-tasting) on the outside, regardless of the inside's wellness preparation.
●A twice-baked potato was served luke-warm, dry, and flavorless.
●Vegetables should NEVER be served soggy, rubbery, or mealy in the middle.
●"Mystery Food" should never be served with your meal! If it isnt on the menu, it shouldn't be on the plate. The day I had a particular meal with such, I was given food poisoning...
●A drink, specially ordered, should be followed by the recipe given, and billed accordingly, if the patron requests. It should never be watered down, have alternative items added, and then be lied to about its contents. This has happened twice, and was never offered to be rectified (in billing, ingredients, or "other"). Too busy to attend to your customer's needs? WHY work?
Regardless of these instances, people have returned, as I had. Perhaps to give them yet another chance? The location is great. The live bands are wonderful to listen to. I just wouldn't suggest ordering anything, unless you can witness its complete preparation. You...
Read moreFood was okay. Love your beet salad. Salad did not have a major component and when asked about it was just told “oh we were out of the walnuts on the beet salad”. Were not compensated. Would not have ordered it if told ahead of time. Did not taste the same! Service took over 45 minutes. Once got food, not much more service. We eat here several times a month but won’t be coming for a while. Really like to support local business but hard when treated poorly. Second time in a week. Last visit we were miss charged and server argued with us…and still rang things up wrong. I know restaurants are hurting but no excuse for being treated rudely!
Dear Owner, Thanks for your response. Just to clarify my original complaint…there were NO walnuts served with the salad. I did not ask for more! I never got any. There were crumbs (about 5 or 6 smaller than pea size) of what might have been left in what the walnuts were stored in sprinkled on the salad. There were NO walnuts. As for the confusion on the so called “free” item. Prior to ordering we asked the server and showed her the offer on the phone. She said it would come off at the end on the bill, but when we received the bill it wasn’t. We were also charged 100 pts in addition to being “comped” for the confusion. I don’t want what I don’t pay for! We were made to feel like we had done something wrong, when we honestly did not. If we had been told it was not a valid offer when ordering, we would have been okay. As for the comment of having patience and understanding during this crazy pandemic and the impact it has had on us all, I completely agree. Restaurants and the server industry have been hit hard. I tried to resolve this while at the restaurant, but felt like I was not heard or listened to. This is the first time I’ve ever left a negative...
Read moreI really enjoyed the Wild Hare Saloon. We had a group of seven of us, but they were able to seat us right away. Our server was fantastic. She was friendly, prompt, made recommendations, didn't question substitutions, and let us split the bill. Sometimes when there is a large group it becomes painful for everyone, but she made it easy.
I started with the cheese fondue. I had just been to Switzerland the week before and had amazing fondue there. This wasn't as good as that, but it was good and how often do you find fondue in the states? It was served with apples, baked pretzels and chicken sausage. I would definitely order this again. I also had the Wedge Salad. Bleu cheese crumbles, bacon, egg, and bleu cheese dressing. It was so good. Honestly there were so many interesting items on the menu that I would love to try.
Another person in our group also ordered the Wedge Salad but doesn't like blue cheese and they let her substitute the cheese and the dressing. No complaining or having to check with the chef. How nice is that?
Everyone in our group said they enjoyed their meal. I loved this place and can't...
