Mixtlan Grill Mexican Restaurant — Restaurant in Oregon City

I used to get this place 4 stars. The staff was friendly the service was prompt and the drinks and food were delicious. But in the last couple of months, it has been so frustrating to order anything for pick up. All I want is to order a side of rice for four people. The woman working upfront cannot seem to comprehend that order. She doesn’t understand how to place it, how to fulfill it or how to ring it up. I tried again today to place the same order. I called in an order of rice for four people for pick up. The gentleman who was very polite and knowledgeable on the phone said “no problem, rice for four will be ready for you in about five minutes”. When we went to pick it up the woman up front had no history of our order and she could not understand my husbands request and kept asking “are you sure?” 😳when we picked up our order of rice, we paid seven dollars for 2 barley half full small containers. I’m perplexed how they are staying in business with her running things upfront. We will be going to a different local restaurant where I can walk in and get a large order of rice for five...

I invited my family and parents to Mazatlan restaurant on 4/12/2015. I regret it so much, this specific location worth being closed right away, or at least they need a new management and cooks. The food was bad, the service was bad and we were charged for the item we actually returned. I would never recommend this specific location to anyone. For example, we ask for Fajitas, and we got it on a dinner plate with only 2 items dry beef (supposed to be nice and tender stake) and onion. I am so disappointed that we spent $77 on the meal we did not enjoy, returned one for bad smelling tiny shrimps burrito etc. The only reason I put 2 starts is because I avoid using word "hate", it is a very strong emotion, however, I am simply disappointed that our time and money were wasted at this restaurant. Now I understand why they are trying to invite new customers by sending "buy one get another 50% off" coupons. Good restaurants have waiting lists, not coupons to attract customers. If you wish to waste your time, money and stomach, you may visit this restaurant. Thank you...

Somehow it took us over a dozen years of living in Oregon City to visit Mixtlan Grill. We came the first time to meet a friend here for dinner. We sat in the bar and had delicious veggie fajitas and margaritas. The service was top notch. So, when we wanted to go out for margaritas again, of course we thought of Mixtlan. The service here can not be beat. Sit in the bar and you will receive old school excellent service and mixed drinks like you did in the past. For our second visit I decided to get a holiday drink called a mistletoe. It had fresh cranberries, lime juice and rosemary, yum! It was so festive! My husband had two different spicy margaritas. The bartender here is excellent! Fast, personable, and knows how to mix a drink. Warm chips and salsa with beans. Oh, and by the way, if you are vegan or vegetarian they can prepare your food accordingly, even if you don't see it in the menu. Just ask your server for recommendations. This spot is definitely a...
