I use to rave about Jersey Mikes, and I still might if another location treats me well. When I walked in a was greeted by, 2 guys. One asked if I knew what I wanted, I told him yes, and that they have made it before for me, but it was a little different. I told him I'd like the veggie wrap (grilled veggies) but on white bread. He repeated veggie wrap, but I corrected him. He said he couldn't do it and that they have never made it for me before. I let him know that I have been getting that sandwich that way before they had Jersey Mikes in Oregon. (The first time I had it, a nice guy in Seattle made it for me since my husband and I had seen it on a food show there) I let him know I'd been getting it from their store since they opened. He said he's never made it, and he still wouldn't. I told him I'd pay for the extra charge, no worries. He still refused. Then 2 more guys came out from the back to listen. They were all chiming in, saying that there wasn't a button to key in for it. I said so you couldn't charge me for the sub (since bread is more $) and grill my veggies? He said no. I left. Not like they cared. My first job was Subway, long before these kids were born. We were taught that if the customer would like something, you make it happen, even if you have to charge more. It's what the customer wants. It's sad to see how things have changed. I guess I'll be giving other sub places my business, which is sad as well. I liked this...
Read moreIt seems like Jersey Mike’s used to dominate the sub shop industry because we were all used to subways skimpy meat toppings & poor service so when they opened in our local area it was a welcome change. JM can still be a good lunch option but now it’s hit or miss and they seem to be following subway’s rule book. (or maybe subway management moved over to Mike’s?)
I wish I would’ve thought to take a pic of my sad one slice of roast beef because it was literally ONE, thin slice. I had to add my own meat from home so it wasn’t a vegetarian sandie and even then the bread was overcooked and hard in most spots therefore only a 1/4 of it was edible. Should I have went back with my “evidence” & requested more meat? Possibly, but who wants to be labeled a Karen and drive back to the store once you’re settled with your Diet Coke & sandie?? Also, I get everything is more expensive now, but Mikes, COME ON, your prices shot up BEFORE these looney tariffs. It’s only still an option because they do offer a good rewards program and lack of other choices close by.
An aside: My (called in) order was also missing a sandwich & I had to wait for 10 min while they made it but that was handled well when the cashier apologized and offered me a soda while I waited so I’m not holding that against them as...
Read moreI love the sandwiches, but the service lately leaves a lot to be desired.
I placed an order for ASAP pickup using the website on a Sunday, and the confirmation email I got said it would be ready at 5:26 pm. My husband went to pick up the order and arrived around 5:30. It took until 6:09 PM for the sandwiches to be ready, which is 43 minutes late. The staff at the store were essentially only making sandwiches for customers who walked in and placed an order in person. My husband checked in with the workers to ask when they are going to make the online orders, but didn't really get an answer. There were apparently some other people who had also been waiting quite a while for online orders.
This location used to be pretty prompt but it has definitely gotten a lot worse. I did see some folks complaining on Google Maps reviews several months ago about the opposite problem (that staff were only making online orders and not helping in-person orders.) I'm sure it is tricky to balance the two, but this is pretty ridiculous. I would have just cancelled the order, but didn't see a way to do that online, and my husband asked an employee in the store who didn't know if that...
