I have been going to this Gandolfos location for years but that has ended today.
Myself and a few friends got sandwiches from this Gandolfos earlier. One of my friends ordered a Crew, double bacon, with cheddar cheese. Just as he always does.
While picking up the sandwiches, the employee handing him the sandwiches asked 'one of these had fetta cheese right?' to which my friend responded 'no, it was cheddar...'. The employee looked into the bag, looked back up and said 'right...cheddar' and handed over the bag.
Come to find out, it was not cheddar. The sandwich had feta cheese. This friend of mine prefers to eat certain things, just like most people do. He disliked the sandwich so much that he couldn't eat any more than 2 bites.
When he called in to complain that he definitely did not get the sandwich he ordered, but rather, the sandwich he confirmed he didn't order, but the employee handed him anyway, he spoke with the store manager. He explained the whole story to the manager hoping to at least get some sort of apology and assurance it wouldn't happen in the future.
The store manager offered NO apology. He simply repeated things like "Well mistakes happen..." "I made the sandwich myself and thought "oh that sounds good!"" and "Well the employee probably just didn't see it."
My friends and I will no longer give this location our business. We will be going out of our way to a location that has a staff capable of admitting something they've done wrong, being truthful, and being professional enough to fix their mistakes rather than make excuses of why you should be completely content with the sandwich that you...
Read moreThis is by far the nastiness location I have ever been in. I don't recamend this location let alone the service. There was next to no meet on my sandwich. It had 1 slice of meet. I took my whole famil, nothing was made right and It wasn't worth the 60.00+ dollers I spent. They don't clean the place at all. Eveything was so dirty. If you love the Gandolfos like myself and my family. Take the time to drive a bit further to the one in Provo, we miss the one that was in Spanish Fork. Its so much cleaner and they don't rip you off on the amount of meats. There wasn't even a 1/4 of the meat that normally comes on the sandwiches. It was one a piece of meat folded in half it didn't even take up half of the sandwich. The cake was small, salads were missing key ingredients and looked old. Your shoes stuck to the floor and the tables were not cleaned in days. We will never return to that location. I asked for my receipts and they didnt give it to me let alone they couldn't figure out how to print it. So disappointed they have gone down hill. I wouldn't be surprised if they charged me for a hole and only gave me half the sandwiche. I even have a photo to show the lack of meat. Does that look like a sandwick that you should paying 8.78 as a 1/2?? I ordered it as a whole knuckle which is 15.24. So eather way you look at it we were riped off. My son is gluten intolerant and wanted a hot dog which was about 7.00 all our food has minimal meet but my knuckle was a joke. Also, they encourage you to do a review before you've get your food. Its places like this that build a bad name...
Read moreWhen my wife and I first discovered Gandolfo's 25 years ago, it was incredible. It was a taste of NY in UT and we ate there three times a week. We used to sit and chat with the owner in the old Basement location in Provo while we ate our sandwiches. Later after we had kids, we used to visit the cool downtown location with them every time we visited our friends and family in UT. Our kids grew up on it and loved it. A few years ago during the recession, we noticed that their downtown SLC location went from having a long line during lunch to having no line to having few tables full and removing beloved menu items. Then, we heard that both of their original locations had closed along with many of the franchise locations that had popped up and all that were left were a few locations that were housed in Chevron stations in UT. there is a standalone in a strip mall in Bellingham, WA that is very good but most of what's left in UT where it started is gas station locations. I hadn't eaten there in several years but we ordered our usual favorites and ate them. the service was fine and friendly. The gas station vibe was sad after their awesome original locations. the sandwiches were OK but that's the best I can say. I don't think they blend the flavors as well as they used to. It wasn't bad but it wasn't great. Frankly, at this point I think that Firehouse subs has a better offering and if you live in a place where the Cheba Hut exists, they definitely do. I probably will just pass on this...
