MENU: 4 stars. Gitto's Pizza was a welcome experience. I was looking for a pizza place and Gitto's was the best-reviewed on Orange Ave. It lived up to its lofty expectations. The pizza was superb: bursting with flavor and the right amount of crispness that I love in a pie. Their slices are enormous for $4 and I was full after just one. They offer a garlic knot with each slice, which was also very delicious. I also sampled the mild wings, and I didn't think they were anything to write home about. My wife also didn't like the gluten-free pizza, calling it bland, uninspiring, and tasteless.
MOOD: 5 stars. I loved the atmosphere. It truly made me feel like I was in Brooklyn at a pizza shop. The ordering is done downstairs and then there is pretty cool seating upstairs replete with a New York theme. I'd never seen such a hole in the wall place that transformed into an actual restaurant in Orlando, so I was fairly impressed. The one strange thing is that the restroom is located in the kitchen. You have to pass directly through where the pizza is being made to access the bathroom. It's a little odd but if there are no health code violations being broken, it's A-okay with me.
LOCATION: 5 stars. It's on Orange Ave between Church and Pine streets, so it's absolutely in an accessible location easy to see and spot. We parked in a nearby parking lot on Church Street and it cost us $1 for an hour. I didn't mind the short walk. I love being in and around downtown, so just about any restaurant located there is in prime real estate in my opinion.
STAFF: 5 stars. The staff was very kind. They exhibited patience when taking our orders, they made friendly jokes, they gave us a bevy of options when we were unsure of what to get, and did all with smiles on their faces.
VERDICT: 5 stars for a great time at Gitto's. When people discuss Orlando as a city and not as a tourist destination, this is what they're referring to. I'd recommend everyone and their mothers to try Gitto's Pizza whenever they drop into...

For me, it was my Nonno taking me for pizza on a Sunday afternoon. At his local joint down the block, a few of his friends would be hanging by the bar and watching the game. He would slide me over that fresh slice of pizza Bianca, my absolute favorite. He would scrunch my hair and pat my back, he'd laugh with his friends and they would share stories of their past. While having a few beers and some of the best pizza. This was one of my purest memories with my grandfather.
Walking into Gitto's pizza makes me feel that memory all over, from the moment they greet you at the door, Gitto's offers an experience for the senses! From the smells of the fresh from the oven pies, to the skills of the pizzaiolo as they toss the dough in the air, Gitto's is truly a wonder of its own. This is on top of its already old home atmosphere, after placing your order at the counter you head upstairs to the old familiar feeling that you belong here. Settle in at the bar and make yourself comfortable, you may even see some familiar faces already there. Gitto's offers you a place to unwind, catch the game over a slice, or maybe discuss some business with a friend, if you know what I mean. A place for wiseguys and friends a like, Gitto's isn't just some downtown pizza joint where I can get a slice of "greased up heartburn", it's the family pizzeria experience in the heart of the City Beautiful. Gitto's is somewhere I wish I could take my Nonno to just to enjoy that feeling once again, as I know he would have...
Read moreI have been to Gitto's before and had a pleasant time. But this time was one of the worst experiences i have ever had ordering food from anywhere. I called and ordered my pizza, a large bacon and pineapple pizza. At the time i was told it would take 15 minutes for the food to be at my door step. I only live 4 blocks away from Gitto's. Now I completely understand that it was going to take more than 15 minutes. By the time it got here an hour later, i didn't bother to check the pizza because my mom and I were very hungry. As soon as i opend the pizza box I ran out the door, to try and catch the delivery man. But unfortunately i had already missed him. So I called the store and at first they picked up and answered in spanish, then hung up on me. So I called back and the same person i had ordered from answered. I began to explain to her that my delivery was not what i had ordered, and that the pizza was not only completly cold but also missing half the cheese. Not as in it had been removed, but as in it had never been put on in the first place. She hasked me to hold so whe could get the manager. Once on the phone with the manager, i explained the situation again. He proceded to yell at me and tell me that there was no way the pizza would take 15 minutes, although i never said it would i was just recaping what his emploee had told me. Then he said there was nothing he could do about my messed up order because they were closing in 30 minutes and that he dose not make the pizza. The he hung up on me. I will most definatly not ever be going back to Gitto's, nor will I be reccomending them to...
