Boba Brew — Restaurant in Oro Valley

Was so excited to have a boba shop open in OV. Unfortunately, I would not recommend this establishment. Depending on who makes the drinks greatly affect the results. There is no consistency in the product. Even so, my daughter likes to “risk” it and we come here 5-6 times per week. However, on different occasions, she notified the staff/owners that the drinks were poorly made. On one of these occasions the gas from the blow torch leaked into the drink when adding the crème brûlée and still they did not want to remake it even though it tasted like petroleum. It took my husband and I getting involved before they would remake the drink. On another occasion, the drink tasted watery and lacked the usual creaminess. The young lady said she made the drink the way it was supposed to be made and thereby would not remake it. I reminded the young lady that she is here so often she knows what the drinks are supposed to taste like. If she is telling you it tastes off, then it does. If unwilling to remake it, I told her I would like a refund and they can keep the poorly made drink. She states she will have to first discuss with the owner who is not there. Leaving us waiting for 5 min, she came back and said she cannot refund us but will remake the drink. So why the drama? All we wanted in the first place was a drink that tasted the way we know it should taste. I hate complaining, often I just accept things even when they are not quite right, understanding variations occur. But to pay $8-$10 on a “luxury” item that tastes bad doesn’t make sense either. It’s the experience of treating myself or my daughter. Having to fight just to have a product made the right way is not the experience I am trying to have. After the first occurrence with the petroleum in the drink, I thought of leaving a bad review. But I was hoping this lack of customer service was just a one off. I do not want to harm small businesses trying to make it. But after so much attitude in so little time, I felt I should notify other...

45 minutes to make two drinks. I was on my lunch break and they took longer than most sit down restaurants. On top of that they made the completely wrong drink and I got to go without because of how long they would take to remake it. There was maybe 5 customers ahead of me, and the customers that arrived after me were ignored while the drinks were made. I feel bad for leaving a bad review but I didn't get any drink or a refund. Great new Boba tea shop! Prices are better than most other boba shops. They offer a nice variety of boba w/ standards and some innovative drinks. The staff is friendly. It's been busy when we've gone and we've had to wait. They could improve traffic flow b/c when it's backed up, the customers who are waiting for their order can't easily move out of the way of the waiting customers.
