Jake's Burgers & More — Restaurant in Oroville

I was in the area and needed to grab something quick before getting back on the road to go home an hour away. Jake’s Burgers & More popped up on my map search and I chose it simply because I could place an order online without any fuss. I didn’t expect much as I am usually disappointed with establishments I’m not familiar with… but it was either this or skip lunch altogether due to limited options along my drive. I pulled up to the parking lot thinking it was a mistake. The location was not flashy from the outside and seemed quiet with an empty parking lot. But I had already ordered and paid, so I went in to get my stuff. The staff were friendly and let me know my order was being bagged. There was a line of people trickling in behind me, so I started feeling more hopeful that it would be an okay lunch. I hopped back in the car to head home and eat on the drive. I was very pleasantly surprised! I ordered the Jalapeño cream cheese burger and sweet potato fries. Not only was it okay, it was one of the best burgers I’d had in a while! The fresh grilled jalapeños threw it over the top! It’s nice to have a jalapeño burger with fresh peppers and not the pickled and canned variety. The cream cheese was an unexpected addition to a burger, but it balanced the spice out perfectly and helped hold it all together which was helpful for lunch on the road. The patty tasted good and fresh, (I’m very sensitive to game-y meat flavors… and if I detect any, I will not be able to eat more than a bite). I could not stop eating this delicious burger even after I felt full! I plan to find an excuse to return to Oroville to hit up this spot again. Or maybe even drive the hour for Jake’s...

Burgers are awesome, price is excellent. But I highly recommend your employees working the front counter learn how to speak to and treat customers with respect and courtesy, regardless of appearance. I needed to use the bathroom. I ran inside and spoelle to my husband who was ordering and paying, asking him to watch our dogs in the car. I am in kidney failure and a stroke left me incontinent at times. I was clearly in distress and in need of a toilet. The girl acted as though I wasn't speaking English when I acquiring as to their bathroom. An older lady stepped in and very rudely informed me that bathrooms are for customers only. Please familiarize yourself with the following AB 1632 (Restroom Access Act): In California, businesses that sell goods to the public and have toilet facilities for their employees must allow any individual lawfully on the premises to use the toilet facility during business hours. I was lawfully in the property. Furthermore, I have a disability. What if I was going to order after I went to the restroom? What about me made you decide that I was not a customer and therefore not worthy of courtesy, respect, and use of your toilet?!? Who are you to treat me as though I am less than? Yes, I had a rough day, WORKING. sorry I didn't look like what you deem a worthy human being to look like. Like I said, DO BETTER. I could care less about what your burger tastes...

Really got let down. I made order by phone. Ready in 15 minutes. I arrived, paid for meal, and then proceeded to wait for 35 minutes. 3 others came in and got orders and left. Guy cooking the burgers looks up at me and says my wrong name and it's coming up. I said that's not my name, told him my name and cashier jumped and said my order has been ready for some time. I was in front of cash register the whole time. No sorry or any courtesy given . I got dinner for 2 cold, and the employed just laughed. Well Jake's, having been a customer for 15+ years, you now have 2 less. Looks like Boss Burger will have to do. Jake's is not like it used to be.

Second chance: July 1st, 2022 Well, I got weak and having been a good customer for so many years, thought I'd go back and get that Jake's Burger with "The Works", and again was let down. I was given the Jr Jake and then it hit me..... I was the only person in the restaurant, besides the 3 employees. I guess it's really difficult to get what you ordered with so many customer bunny no,,@s. Sad, but I suspect Jake's Burgers will be closing...
