Was looking for a place that could host a group of 13 with kids and an adult with certain food allergies and my Google peeps came through.

It was interesting getting in as we weren't really expecting the main entrance to be in the alley, but it really lent to the atmosphere. It's smaller than I expected but they hosted us no problem.

The place has a local pub vibe and I noticed right away the ceiling loaded with old beer taps... it really looks cool!

When you walk in you're greeted by a super friendly staff - they're simply ready, willing, and able to give you a warm and enjoyable experience.

We ordered fried pickles and Mac and cheese balls to start. The dishes we ordered were varied; BBQ chicken wings, fish tacos, a couple of burgers, and I got the traditional Miami steak sandwich with onion rings.

The fried pickles were pretty good and everyone really liked their dishes - especially the burgers!

The traditional Miami steak sandwich was really good too. It reminded me of a veal parm sandwich with a little less cheese. It came with a side of onion rings that had a nice flavorful dipping sauce.

If I went to college here, this place would have been my "go to".

I approve and recommend you pay...

let’s just say, if i could give it 0 stars, i would. i sat down at a booth around 9pm, not busy AT ALL, after not eating a single thing all day. very excited to try a famous burger from here, right? wrong. first of all, burgers are $11? screw that. can’t afford a burger. maybe i’ll just do an appetizer. $8. for what exactly? prob 4 bites of something that was deep fried. my friend and i decided to split a $12 salad. didn’t want one, but whatever. waiter took our drink orders and then stood at the end of the bar chatting his head off for 35 minutes! didn’t move from the bar for over a half hour. my POP had been empty for 30 of those minutes and my friend’s WATER was all gone too bc i ended up drinking that. finally he grabs food from the window. different table, not our food. at this point, i’ve been waiting 45 minutes for a SALAD. A SALAD. IM SORRY BUT DO YOU GROW THE LETTUCE YOURSELF AND HAVE TO GO HARVEST IT EVERY TIME SOMEONE ORDERS A SALAD? absolutely unacceptable. i ended up walking out after an hour without any sign of our food...

We came in to Mac & Joe's because everyone raves about it. The set up is odd, with a split upstairs and downstairs, but probably helps keep it from getting super noisy when it's busy. We visited on a pretty slow evening with about a dozen other people inside. It took 10 minutes to seat us, then our party of six was seated at two separate tables instead of being put together. We ordered pretty quickly but it took almost 45 minutes for our food to come out, in a nearly empty restaurant.

Portions are oddly sized, with some being big enough for literally 4 people and others just barely enough for one. The fish tacos were really quite awful. The tacos were tasteless and the fish tasted old frozen and was super rubbery. I guess that's what I get for ordering a quintessential California coast dish in the middle of farm land.

The only thing we had that everyone was enthusiastic about was the mac and cheese bites. Everything else wasn't even chain restaurant quality. It was all ok, but nothing was...

The service here is horrible. The sever we had, Isabelle, was equally as horrible. She only went to our table twice, didn't check on us throughout our stay, multiple OTHER employees dealt with our orders ONLY after we were lucky enough to notice an employee walking by, and she finally checked on us after an hour when it was time for a check. We couldn't even ask for refills on our drinks, and the children with us went through dinner without something to drink because of her. As a result, I didn't believe a tip was deserved. When I left this place with my family, she ran out the door and proceeded to yell at us, "Wait, NO TIP?!" and continued to yell at us. I am a stickler for supporting servers with tips because I used to be a server and know what it is like. However, the service was too horrible to reward. This was my first time here, and first impressions are everything. I will NEVER come here again.

Follow me for more reviews! Down an alley in Oxford, through a door and up the stairs was Mac & Joe's. It seemed really busy for a summer Saturday in Oxford. There were lots of families. The atmosphere is a bit dark even those I watched them clean the table it was sticky-- a side effect of the disinfectant, I'm sure. The ceiling was covered in beer tap handles so that was kinda neat. I love steak sandwiches so went with the Famous Since 1965 steak sandwich and it was the most unremarkable steak sandwich I've ever had. Seriously. It's hard to even describe it because it was so unremarkable. I ate it without the top bun because... Well, unremarkable. My dining companions enjoyed their food more than I did. I did sneak a bite of a burger and a few tots and they were infinitely better than the Famous Since 1965 steak sandwich. But that steak sandwich is 3⭐ at best.
