The food here is good and it's the main Mexican eatery in town around here, so I have been very willing to let things go if things were wrong, but my last time eating here was the tipping point for me. I've eaten here well over a dozen times and I don't think I've gotten a completely correct order any of those times. A few times it was just missing something small, like a side was missing. Losing a few bucks is annoying but not worth it to make a huge fuss about so I usually just let it go. Many of the times I ordered from here (pickup) the main order was missing or wrong. Once again, walking home and having to call and walk back is really irritating but I understand that they are busy and can mess things up. They usually resolve the issue and give you a replacement meal. But there have been a few standout experiences recently and in the past that have made me decide to drive the distance to other places in the future. I had an experience in the past where I called to tell them they had gotten my order wrong, like usual, and the person I was speaking with started yelling at me and accusing me of simply not understanding what the food was that I had ordered (as if I somehow had a distorted memory of this specific meal I've ordered on five other occasions where they were all different than what I got). The last time I got food from there was probably the worst though. I had it delivered, there were a few errors in the order, whatever, but the big problem was them putting meat in a meal that I specifically designated as needing to be vegetarian. So the vegetarian the meal was for got to wait while we ordered another replacement to be delivered. It was once again specified over call that the meal shouldn't have any meat in it. It gets delivered again, there is meat in it again. Half of the bag was also full of liquid for some reason so when I opened it it messed up my carpet. Then there was a huge fuss between the delivery people and the restaurant and we got the food delivered again (once again incorrect but technically vegetarian this time). I wanted so badly to like this place but I'm done getting...
Read moreIn short, worst service I've ever received. But to be fair, I need to elaborate. It was Parent's weekend. So, above average crowds plus the pandemic is happening and usual worker shortages. So, as I express this, I took those factors into account. Here is the list of items that made the experience so poor. We put our name in (standard), but were skipped over by at least 10 other parties, including several larger than ours (9). The hostess just simply 'forgot' us and then proceeded to seat us quickly. Table was filthy when we got to it. So, in the rush to get us in they didn't clean it first. No service for at least 15 minutes. In fact another table behind us was seated AFTER us and got service BEFORE us. No water no silverware. We had to get our own silverware and water didn't arrive until after the meal did. Margaritas were awful. We bought 2 towers of margaritas and they tasted like kool-aid. We couldn't even tell if there was alcohol in it. And, by the time we were done, we didn't need to worry about driving. We basically got a sugar high versus any type of alcohol buzz. Food was just OK. I'm really not criticizing them for that. They were slammed. Took forever to get our bill and to pay to get out. Again, tables seated after us got out before us.
All-in-all we were stuck there for 3 hours, which basically ruined any chance for us to enjoy the evening air.
So, to repeat, worst service I have EVER received. I certainly will never go back. I thought IHOP service was bad. I appreciate...
Read moreThis place is great. Street tacos (I think they call them fiesta tacos here), carnitas and the taquitos are all delicious. Also! their chicken charra soup (its like chicken tortilla soup) is top as well. It's absolutely loaded with shredded chicken. Tacos are also loaded with meat. They don't skimp here at all. The horchata and margarita were awesome too. I really recommend this place. free chips and salsa as well - and the free items have always been fresh for me. Nice owner, good food, quick pick up orders. Also, the staff all work as a team to take care of customers. So if the waitress is busy, the owner will always come by and take care of you quickly instead. I eat here at least once every couple of weeks. I have had bad experiences at other restaurants in Oxford, from poor hygeine to rude owners. Because of those past experiences, I always felt like I had to pack a lunch if I needed to spend the day on campus in Oxford. but now that I found this place I know I can eat out if needed, which really helps. Much cleaner and better food than most...
