Zippy's Kapolei — Restaurant in Oʻahu

Sorry but me and my family had the worst “Zipppys” experience at Kapiolei Zippys. Last night for dinner.

Zippys is everyone’s go-to spot, service should feel comfortable, at home and up to standards.

As soon as we walk in the hostesses don’t acknowledge us.

There was a miscommunication and I thought our table was ready, so me and my family walk in. My family’s at the door while I walk up to the host stand and tell Shirley, the host, my name. She said the wait is 30 minutes - but the restaurant isn’t even busy and I seen about 10 open tables, with a rough tone she tells us we have to wait outside.

Online at “request a table” said there was only 1 party ahead of us. So we listen, and walk back out. we look through the window and hosts are just laughing and talking story. Not even 5 minutes later she alerts my phone with a text that our tables ready.

So we walk in, wait for her to assist us finally she turns to us and tell us to take our temperature. We do, and my kids are trying to work the machine and she yells at my kids not touch the machine, so I told Shirley “it would helpful if you were here to assist us” she came and the other host Princess ended up using the handheld thermometer to take our temperature.

So once we all finished taking our temperature, we’re standing there waiting to be seated. We already feel uncomfortable and not welcomed. We waited a minute or 2 until they finally told us to follow Shirley to our table. Shirley drops 2 menus on the table and walks away. Not even “thank you for waiting enjoy” NOTHING!!!

I requested a booster. No booster. Not even a offer. We waited almost 20 minutes for our drinks while watching 2 other tables get their drinks. No one greeted us, NOTHING!

At his point my 1 year old is fussy and my teenagers are hungry. So I got up and asked for the manager.

Jessica the manager was nice and had the problem fixed..

Our experience is definitely NOT ACCEPTABLE!

Without the horrible experience it would’ve been 5 star for the online “request a table” and...

First experience at Zippys last night fir dinner and we really enjoyed it. We ordered at the counter and chose to eat in. We chose a Zip Pack Deluxe which includes chili, mac salad with golden fried chicken, crispy breaded white flaky fish filet, tender teriyaki marinated beef, and Spam®, on a bed of rice topped with classic Japanese takuan pickled radish and furikake seasoning ($18.60) and also ordered a mini Loco Moco- An iconic Hawaii dish invented by hungry Hilo teenagers. A juicy hamburger patty atop a bed of rice, smothered with brown gravy and topped with two eggs. Served with mac salad($11.30). We shared both entrees and if this sounds like a huge amount of food…it is. The Zip Pack Deluxe we could have shared without ordering anything else and we would have left quite full. The fish and chicken were really good and the teriyaki beef was a little chewy but good flavor. The macaroni salad is really good and the chili tasted great too. The Loco Moco was probably our favorite dish. The brown gravy with the rice and hamburger Patty were very tasty and reminded us of Salisbury steak we used to eat at home. We will definitely order this dish again and we chose to have our eggs scrambled. We will return to Zippys and can recommend it if you are visiting and there is one neat by. We wanted to try a local restaurant and this one is a good one to experience. It appears that they have a table service section too. We didn’t realize this until after we ordered at...

It was late about 12am and I decided to eat at Zippys Kapolei. I used to eat here out of convenience. I recently stopped eating here because it seems like the portions are weighed. Well any way I decided to give it a try. I ordered the Chili Frank Plate. While I was in the line to order a lady had mentioned to the order taker that the tables need to be wiped. Upon receiving my food I proceeded to sit down at the table area. When I got there most of the tables were indeed dirty. I did find one that was semi clean. My plate lunch was not even close to being warm the chili had alot of beans and once again the portions were minimum the mac salad didn't taste as good as it used to be. The lady who said the tables needed to be wiped also came to the table area and was appalled that the tables were not wiped. She sat at a dirty table and a girl eventually came out to wipe the table. As I was eating my disappointing meal I was thinking how can they make such a simple meal that is basically pre cooked so unpleasant. While I was eating my food I overheard the lady telling her friends that her Zip pack had under cooked meat. This is the first time I have taken the time to ever write a review at any restaurant. When I got home I told my wife about my experience there and told her I won't be eating there anymore. I also mentioned to the lady that I was also disappointed...
