C.R. Chicks (PGA Blvd.) — Restaurant in Palm Beach Gardens

I recently visited CR Chicks to order “The Smokey” with extra chicken and rice. The food looked great and was served piping hot—but it came in a white Styrofoam to-go box with the lid ripped off. Serving steaming hot food in Styrofoam is a health concern, as it can leach harmful chemicals like styrene and benzene when exposed to high heat.

When I brought this up with the manager, he claimed they usually use dark plastic containers, but even those can have the same issue. Pouring hot food straight from the grill into Styrofoam or plastic is not their intended use—they are better suited for packing food that has cooled slightly. Despite raising these concerns, the manager admitted, “That’s all we have,” and offered no resolution or alternative. He made no attempt to problem solve or suggest a refund. Very Disappointed, I left the food on the table and walked out.

To CR Chicks: Handling hot food safely should be a top priority. Serving it in a way that risks exposing customers to harmful chemicals is unacceptable. It’s time to address this health concern. Visited 11/4/2023. Girl at counter clueless with terrible attitude. Food was bland, not like all the other C.R. Chicks I've been to over the years (others were flavorful). I had to use A LOT of salt and pepper on my quarter dark with mash potatoes with gravy. Cucumbers were good. During ordering, I asked the girl if there was gravy. She proceeded to scoop HALF of the potatoes back out of my container but charged me a couple dollars extra for the gravy without ever saying there would be an extra charge... so less food for more money. I learned afterwards by reviewing my paid receipt. Same girl also asked me something at the register, didn't hear my answer, when I repeated she acted like I changed my mind (but she just didn't listen) and then rolled her eyes at me. I’ve been eating at CR Chicks in WPB on a weekly basis for over 10 yrs, up until a year or so ago when I moved from the area. Today I order from CR Chicks in Gardens. What a disappointment! I ordered the ‘smokey’ with extra tomatoe sauce on the side. The chicken was good, and I’m glad I ordered extra sauce as their was barely any sauce, it was a bit dry. The extra sauce had an unpleasant grainy texture to it. An added filler??? I also ordered a child’s meal of 3 legs and 2 sides. After one bite my 11 year old refused to eat the chicken saying it tasted weird. I took a bite from 2 of the 3 legs and agreed; they both tasted like chemicals - not bacon grease or liquid smoke; tastes which I do remember. I wouldn't even feed the meat to my dogs.
