All in all, it was not a letdown & I can understand all the raves on what seems to be a staple in the Palm Springs area.
I just decided to go with the Famous Buttermilk Pancakes which came with 2 eggs (ordered over hard) & 2 chicken apple sausage links.
The gf ordered the Dungeness Crab Cake Benedict.
Gf's parents got Oregon Trail Steak & Eggs (included hash browns & s biscuit) as well as German Pancake Combo (w/ strawberries & bananas), included chicken apple sausage & 2 eggs (ordered scrambled).
TASTE:
My Famous Buttermilk Pancakes were pretty stellar pancakes. Nice & fluffy. They come with regular syrup as well as well as marionberry syrup. The marionberry syrup has a good deep berry flavor just slightly tart & of course sweet which works well with pancakes. The chicken apple sausage was decent, but maybe just a little on the blander side compared to others I've had. They were probably the least sweet "apple sausage" I've ever had. Not a bad thing just an observation.
The Dungeness Crab Cake Benedict had a pretty good flavor overall. Nice crab flavor, little freshness from the tomato & that extra savory/crisp from the bacon. Pretty nice portion of bacon as well. It came with shredded (little thick) hash browns that were pretty standard with a nice crisp. Biggest fault in this meal being the eggs were just a little bit under poached. They needed to be a tad firmer.
The Oregon Trail Steak & Eggs was a solid steak & eggs. They cooked it medium as requested & it had a good "steak" flavor. Not the most tender but not overly tough. It came with the same hash browns as well as eggs & a biscuit. You could make a good little steak sandwich if you wanted too. The scrambled eggs are the usual decent eggs.
The German Pancakes seem like the "must get" item at this place so someone in the party had to get them. They definitely look as impressive as they do in photos & actually taste pretty good as well, but I do prefer the regular buttermilk pancakes. These pancakes have a thickness in between a crepe & a regular pancake. As opposed to the buttermilk pancakes, they are not fluffy & more on the "dense" side. Also, they do have less flavor as well. Along with the strawberry & banana they make for a pretty good bite though.
I can definitely see most people being happy with going here & understand why this place is so popular. They have all that & then some of the usual hearty "American" breakfast choices loved by so many.
SERVICE, LOCATION & PARKING:
The server (Donaldo) was very friendly & made it a nice dining experience. It was very busy so it's understandable the kitchen was a little backed up so the server let us know & had a great cheerful attitude the entire time. Such a small thing but many places just leave you waiting without even checking on you.
They were quite strict about having the entire party there before they seat you. Just FYI.
Our party of 4 probably had to wait about 20 min for a seat but I'm pretty sure we had somewhat good timing & people were waiting longer. I saw lot's of group's of all sizes waiting for tables. This place is very busy & popular, plus it was a Sunday morning (4th of July weekend).
They are located right on E Palm Canyon Dr, corner of Deep Well Rd. It's a quite sizeable place with lot of tables. There's also a fair amount of outside seating. I'd say the place is at least 1.5x the size of the usual IHOP or Denny's.
There's a small/medium size parking lot that just seems to be even smaller considering the amount of tables this place has. On a busy Sunday morning (4th of July weekend), I was not able to find a parking in the lot. There were cars waiting for other cars to leave the entire time. I did find one not too far off in the residential area (corner of Deepwell Rd & Suntan Ln).
I can definitely see myself returning back here for the great service, & tasty, fairly priced, well portioned food. I'll probably come for dinner though to try out...

Everything.
Elmer's has been serving the Palm Springs community in the same location for over 30 years. The quality in the products they use are from the finest, freshest, local vendors and family owned farms, which clearly comes through all the dishes they serve.
Go big or go home! That should be their motto for their most popular dish, the Classic German Pancake. Almost the size of a hubcap, the end result reminds me of a crepe. But better. Light, fluffy, sweet, thin layer, that is traditionally finished with butter, lemon and powdered sugar. Or you can add fruit topping ; Northwest triple-berry, strawberry, cinnamon apple or lingonberry butter. Simply, delicious.
The Seafood Feast and Chips- This is no ordinary fish and chips. Panko coated deep-fried shrimp, the freshness of the wild Alaskan cod and the addition of the Pacific salmon, both hand-battered was an extraordinary twist.
The Cheeseburger with Tillamook® Cheddar- Prime-size, fresh Northwest beef patty on a grilled Kaiser bun. One of the tastiest, freshest, meatiest, burger we have ever had.
Golden Chicken Strips & Chips- No nuggets or questionable meat here folks. Moist, well seasoned, chicken breast strips cooked to a crispy perfection.
And last, but not least, Ivar's Famous Clam Chowder- Thick and creamy, a Seattle waterfront classic. Another favorite. No need to wait for Friyay for its served daily.
This diner style food is really worth experiencing. Their service is as exemplary as their food!

Read moreWe visited Palm Springs for the first time and Elmer's was within walking distance from our hotel. There were so many people mulling about outside the restaurant that I thought it was going to be at least an hour wait. To my surprise, the wait for 3 was only 20-25 minutes, and they met their estimated wait time, too.
Elmer's has something for everyone, including all kinds of breakfast proteins (except vegetarian), omelettes, scrambles, waffles, pancakes (including huge German pancakes served with lemon wedges), oatmeal, fruit, etc. Although they serve breakfast all day, they also serve lunch and dinner, including stacked sandwiches, sandwich and soup combos, burgers, prime rib, seafood, etc.
Their coffee was hot and delicious. I had the vegetarian omelette with hash browns and an English muffin. I ordered it light, with 2 eggs instead of 3, and the hollandaise sauce on the side, which was very flavorful, although I only had a taste. That likely dropped the dish's calories from 1,000 to 700 or so. The omelette was delicious, and the vegetables within were fresh and retained their texture. I was satisfied, but not overly full.
My wife had the Belgian waffle with apple cinnamon topping and fresh fruit. It came with 2 eggs prepared any style. The waffle was light and crispy, and the apple cinnamon topping was close to the best I've ever tasted. It wasn't too sweet; the apples were cooked through, but retained some texture, and the cinnamon flavor came through without being over powering.
We had a great meal at Elmer's, and I recommend you drop by if you're...
