Lulu California Bistro in Palm Springs is an absolute delight and a must-visit for anyone in the area. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted warmly by the staff and immediately impressed by the vibrant and modern decor. The restaurant has a lively yet welcoming atmosphere that feels perfect for any occasion, whether it's a casual lunch or a special dinner.
The menu is extensive, offering something for everyone, from classic comfort dishes to unique California-inspired cuisine. I opted for the ahi tuna salad, and it was perfectly fresh and flavorful, with a gorgeous presentation that matched the quality of the dish. My dining companion had the short ribs, and they couldn’t stop raving about how tender and delicious the meat was. Every dish that passed by our table looked incredible, and it’s clear the chefs here put a lot of thought and care into their food.
The drink menu was equally impressive. Lulu offers an excellent variety of cocktails, wine, and beer. I tried their signature margarita, which was the perfect balance of tangy and sweet. It paired beautifully with the meal, and I appreciated the thoughtful suggestions from our server about which drinks would complement our food choices. The attention to detail and customer satisfaction was evident throughout our visit.
Speaking of service, it was impeccable. Our server was attentive without being overbearing, checking in at just the right times to ensure everything was to our liking. The staff’s professionalism and friendliness made us feel like valued guests, not just customers. It’s rare to find a place where the service matches the quality of the food, but Lulu California Bistro excels in both areas.
The outdoor seating area is a fantastic option, especially in the beautiful Palm Springs weather. We enjoyed our meal while soaking in the stunning views of the surrounding mountains. The ambiance was further elevated by the soft music playing in the background, which added to the relaxing yet upscale vibe of the restaurant.
Overall, Lulu California Bistro exceeded all expectations. The combination of delicious food, exceptional service, and a welcoming atmosphere makes it one of the best dining experiences I’ve had in Palm Springs. I highly recommend stopping by if you’re in town—you won’t be...
Read moreI had the most negative customer service I have ever had at this restaurant. We dined there on Christmas night. I saw that the menu was a set menu, and that people over the age of 12 could not order off the children's menu. I have a teenage daughter with some eating issues and knew she would be unable to order off the full menu. I spoke to someone at the restaurant a week or two before and asked if it would be okay if she ordered off the children's menu and they said that would be fine. When we got there that night, the waiter refused to give her a children's menu. I explained that I had been told over the phone that it would be okay, and he still refused. I asked to speak to a manager. She approached the table already in an angry mood, pointing to the menu and explaining that it was against their policy to give a child's menu to a teenager over 12. I explained that I knew that was the policy but that had been given verbal permission that it would be okay and that I didn't see what the harm would be in one child's menu in the situation. She asked me if my daughter had dietary restrictions . I told her no because my daughter's food issues are emotionally related issues, and I did not want to embarrass my daughter. That's why I had spoken privately on the phone. The waiter and the manager gave me a speech about how restaurants work. I wanted to give them a speech that I have worked in restaurants myself, and know that (particularly high-end restaurants) the customer is always right. In the end, my daughter was unable to order off the adult menu and sat there without any dinner while the rest of us ate. The waiter didn't as much as offer to bring her a bowl of crackers or a piece of bread. For the tiny amount of money that the restaurant may have sacrificed for her ordering off of a children's menu the cost was severe. She was upset, I was upset, our Christmas night was ruined. I cannot believe that a restaurant would quibble over a few dollars and cause so much sorrow for a family. I also cannot believe that they would not honor the fact that someone from their restaurant said that would be fine for us to use a child's menu. I cannot believe that a restaurant would treat...
Read moreWe dined at this restaurant during restaurant week. The menu consisted of a 3-course meal for $25. Items are the ones in the picture. I will go through them one by one, including service and atmosphere.
Strawberry Spritzer - Refreshing, yet very sweet. The drink tastes like sugar mixed with water and a couple drops of juice. It had 6 pieces of boba on top as well, but just for the looks. It doesn’t serve any practical reason. Overall, I did not enjoy this drink but can see why some would.
Watermelon Gazpacho - One of the better watermelon gazpachos served at restaurants. It had the balanced amount of spices and watermelon and feta pieces. 100% recommended.
Steak Sandwich with Truffle Fries - The steak sandwich was very tasty! The steak was grilled properly and the sauces and bread were very good! Steak sandwich was great! As for truffle fries - the menu said truffle fries. We ordered truffle fries expecting truffle fries. Once the item was served, we received regular fries. We kindly told our server and sent the item back, but the kitchen sent us the same fries again with a few pieces of shredded parmesan on top. That’s not truffle fries. Our expectations for such a large establishment was much different. The fries were decent, but definitely not the truffle fries we ordered. I highly recommend the steak sandwich! Order truffle fries at your own risk.
Key Lime Pie - Not good in my honest opinion. I did not enjoy this dessert item. It was sweeter than it needed to be, and much softer than key lime pies are. Not recommended.
Service - Our server was a fantastic guy. He was very kind and respectful.
Atmosphere - The restaurant has a beautiful view of downtown Palm Springs and the mountains.
Overall, decent experience. Half of our items were good and the other half were not. Check this place out; maybe you will enjoy...
