Mr BG's Diner — Restaurant in Panama City Beach

Looking for somewhere to eat breakfast on a Sunday morning. Everywhere had an hour wait expect for this place and I see why now! I will never go back. First glance at the menu I thought the prices were high but we were hungry so we stayed. Menu stated $15.39 for 2 pieces of bacon, 2 eggs and hashbrowns. This is what my son ordered.. menu stated $16.89 for 2 pieces of back, 3 eggs, hashbrowns or grits and toast.. this is what I ordered and asked that they add cheese and jalapeños to the hashbrowns. When the food came out my hashbrowns did not have cheese and I got about 5 pieces of jalepenos in a plastic cup. I was brought a small cup of cold shredded cheese. It wouldn’t even melt once added due to the tempature of the food barely being warm. My son didn’t even eat his bacon because it was so cold. My bf ordered a hashbrown bowl with 2 eggs added on top. Menu stated 2 eggs was $5 I was disappointed in the quality of the food especially for the price. Then to make matters worse once I received the bill I was charged MORE than the menu stated. I was charged $17.99 instead of $15.89 for my sons mean. $20.99 instead of $16.89 for my meal and $8 for 2 eggs!! Instead of $5 I ended up paying $80 for 3 people to have breakfast with one meal and one drink each!! That’s crazy. When I brought it to their attention a lady behind the counter stated it had been “updated in their system” I told her the menu needed to reflect the same prices then because that’s extremely misleading. She just shrugged her shoulders at me like oh well. My bf was already outside. Once I told him about the ticket. He went back in to get a photo of the menu so we could show with this review and they had removed them all from the counter. I sure hope they fix this and stop trying to scam their customers!! Delicious Dinner at the Diner!!!!! Someone very wise told me, “If it’s on the beach side of the road, it’ll have great drinks and terrible/overpriced food”, or something to that effect. So very true! We finally wised up and moved off the beach this year, and we haven’t been disappointed or overcharged once! As soon as we walked inside, we were greeted and welcomed into the restaurant by the friendly staff. We ordered the fish basket which came with a side of fries, 2 hushpuppies, and a small serving of sweet coleslaw. We also ordered the chicken tenders. Everything was cooked right then! The fish was piping hot, and juicy with a crisp golden fried crust. My husband was served two generously sized cod fillets and enough fries for both of us to share. Nothing was greasy… no dripping oil! I can say the same for my chicken tenders! I loved the bbq dipping sauce! I stole a hushpuppy and was going back for the other one when my husband popped it in his mouth. I could eat a whole basket of those tasty bites!! The restaurant was clean and organized. I was offered several tea (fresh brewed) refills, and our table was cleared quickly. We sat and chatted with the owner and most of the staff for a while before leaving. I am shocked that a place of business can stay open operating such a poor business. We visited this place with 2 kids and 3 adults while there were maybe 4 other tables. All tables waited patiently as one cooked item at a time came out to each of tables. We waited over an hour on basic breakfast and when why “chocolate chip waffle” came out with runny chocolate sauce drenching the waffle, I asked them to take it back and remove from the bill. This turned into an argument with the server and the manager as they refused to just listen and remove. They claimed to be service oriented but we literally had to get up and go ask our server for water refills while we were waiting over an hour. This place is a real joke and should not be considered in any situation as a a good breakfast option. Overalll average food at best, really poor cook times, and extremely bad service and attitude has ensured that I we will never be going back. Panama City has way too much to offer to get trapped in this nightmare restaurant for any amount of time.
