Update July 2 - First time back to Delmonico’s since COVID restrictions, but it remains unchanged from the quality of service and food. As most upscale restaurants using dinner reservations is a wise option and Open Table worked great, along with the ability to indicate special occasions. The tables remain nicely spaced, with allows better conversation tones and spacing between parties.
As before service was excellent, and meal pace as expected from a quality restaurant. Started out with the Wilted Spinach salad and Lobster Bisque. The salad was good, but the candied pecan bacon and fried poached egg made it unique. Lobster bisque was rich and favorable, with a nice balance of saltiness. Knowing the amount of food from previous visits, single entrée of the 16 oz NY strip and baked cream corn was enough for two of us, with the steak being served whole, but opted for service to cut in half and served to us on separate plates. Steak was extremely tender, and cooked to perfect temperature as ordered. Ended the meal with a regular coffee (French pressed) and complimentary scoop of Banana sorbet (noted for our special occasion), which was a nice ending to the meal. The continued criticism which carries throughout our visits is even though service is excellent, it remains confusing on the many people attending our table, with one of the primary hosts seem to hover about the table. Despite the service style, we still would return in the future for the wonderful food and special occasions.
Special note for the front desk and serving staff, who all commented on our special occasion. Always a nice touch when the restaurant takes the time to recognize this on the behalf of their guests.
Tips for your visit: Make reservation and for quieter dining experience, ask to be seating in the smaller room if available. Service was excellent and timely with all the courses, including our wine service. They have an extensive wine list and full bar menu. Started out with the French Onion soup, which is highly recommended. Very deep in flavor and not salty as many soups can be, we followed this with entrees of the NY Strip, Colorado Rack of Lamb, and a shared side of Cheddar Grits. Both entrees were prepared exactly as requested, resulting in very tasty and tender entrees. The grits were very good, but are different with more body to them, which our server explained before we ordered them, that due to the freshness of the grits they will be this texture (much appreciated for the description before ordering them). Finished the dinner with a selection of Sorbets and a French press coffee.
The only criticisms I would have, is even though service was excellent, it was a little confusing on the many people helping with our service, and the dining area is a bit dark in spots which makes it difficult to see the menu or the table.
Overall the food and service were excellent and what I would expect for this level of restaurant, and we will definitely be back again in the future.
Hints for your visit: Check out the front pages of the extensive wine list, there is a list of recommendations by the restaurant, which makes it easy to select a nice bottle of wine for the novice. If you like sorbet, the Cherry sorbet was very good and a great ending to the...
Read moreI often do convention work at the Venetian Hotel & decided to hit this place one night for dinner after work. 3 friends joined me & we went in with high expectations due to the many good reviews posted, & the great looking selection of menu items. Mike the Maitre'D took our reservation, & after he changed it for us because we had to work a little bit late, we were seated at 7pm towards the back at a table for 4. Our service team consisted of Brian, who approached our table immediately & introduced himself & his partners, Hayley, & Jojo. My buddy James had perused the wine list at the bar while he was waiting for us, & ordered a bottle of Austin Hope 2022 Paso Robles Cabernet. It was presented in the traditional way, & the aroma was full & intense, the way a good cab should be. After the wine was poured, we decided on our orders as we engaged in a bit of shop talk while anticipating a good time enjoying Chef Emeril's creations. Brian promptly appeared with some of what looked & tasted like yorkshire pudding, some fresh butter, pats, & flaky chunks of chilled sea bass on crostini. What a treat those were. We promptly devoured all of that & enjoyed some wine as we waited for the next course. My buddies ordered the scallops, & the ribeye steak. The daily special menu offered a bone in New York Striploin that caught my eye immediately, & I didn't hesitate to order it. I also opted for a bowl of gumbo because, well, Emeril Lagasse' don't mess around when he does the southern cajun fare, right? BAM! James ordered the lobster bisque, which he gave a 5 star rating to. We also had creamed spinach, the corn, & sauteed mushrooms on the side. The timing of all of our service was perfect. My striploin steak was done to medium rare perfection. It was juicy, flavorful, & tender. It came with a sprig of rosemary, & about a dozen cloves of roasted garlic. YUM! I doled out the garlic to my friends for their steak as well so we could all enjoy the wonderful flavors. The spinach was very creamy, you could tell that it was prepared fresh. The sauteed mushrooms were oyster mushrooms, I believe, & were also delicious. The corn came baked in a cast iron skillet & topped with a tasty bread crumb topping, rounding things out quite nicely. Needless to say, the conversation quieted down as we all tucked into our fine dishes. The scallops were done to perfection, (I traded one with my buddy for a slice of steak), with just enough sear to liven them up, yet keep them tender. The ribeye was cooked to perfection & my friends raved about it. Brian & his team were always nearby but never intrusive, pouring wine & water as needed. When we finished with the entrees, we couldn't decide which desserts to order so our server Hayley took charge, & brought us 3 of Delmonico's signature desserts, the banana cream pie, the chocolate bomb, & my personal favorite, the pecan pie served with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. These were shared between us to finish this wonderful dining experience off. Overall, this was everything I expect when I spend top dollar for a meal. Delmonico's did not disappoint. You can be assured that we will return, in fact, one of our crew, James told me that he's planning on returning tonight for more wonderful, tasty, food. Thanks & 5 stars to Delmonico's at...
Read moreExtremely disappointing!!! I made reservations for my BFF's 50th birthday since we wanted to have a nice meal. Here goes ....
1 - Arrived at our designated time, no one was ahead of us, yet were made to wait while hosted answered a call.
2- Once escorted to our table, the gentleman didn't even bother pulling out the chair for us. If he had, he'd have seen the chunk of MEET LAYING ON THE FLOOR by it. Apparently the no one bothered to vacuum. I brought it to their attention, and we were moved to the table right next to it.
3- Next came to complimentary roll. Let me just say Olive garden has better bread. This roll was extra brown, hollow, chewy & cold...totally inedible.
*At this point I told my BFF we should leave, but she really wanted to eat at Emeril's restaurant, and every birthday girl should get her wish. So we stayed....wrong!!!!
4- We proceeded to order cocktails. They were good but not worth $18 each. (Ordered 4).
Once again, our intention was to have a nice, fancy dinner, so we knew we'd be dishing out some cash & expected great food & service to match the cost.
5- We ordered the Cracklins appetiser...it was really good. ($10)
We had already looked at the menu ahead of time and knew we'd be ordering the Surf and Turf. I just needed clarification on the portion size. Our waiter assured us it was a small 9oz steak & 5oz Lobster tail ($80). We decided to order 2 instead of sharing, since the waiter said it was a small portion.
While we waited, I asked for a to go box for the Cracklins & some additional dipping sauce to go with it, since it was a big portion & I wanted to enjoy my steak & Lobster. The waiter's assistant brought the box with a small empty container for our leftover sauce which was about a teaspoon....who does that!?! Any other restaurant brings a fresh sauce in a to go container.
Finally, our beautiful looking dinner arrived. The steak was sooooo delicious. Unfortunately, I can't say the same for the Lobster.
This was my 1st time ordering lobster, but I'm pretty sure it's suppose to be flakey & soft. What I was served was a TOUGH, RUBBERY, CHEWY 🦞. I had to use my hands to pull out the tough meet from it's shell.
While the assistant cleaned off our table, she asked how it was. I was honest with my response...."the steak was delicious, but the lobster was tough, rubbery & chewy" I answered. The piece of lobster was still on my plate. She rolled her eyes and left, not acknowledging me. I saw her speaking with what seemed to be a manager.
The grand finale....our waiter came over to our table, apologized for the Lobster and proudly told us the manager would be comping our appetiser. REALLY!!!! Our bill was $250 after the comp.
I came prepared to pay & did not ask for the comp, but really I was INSULTED.
WORST BIRTHDAY DINNER...ugh. This place was horrible. Emeril would be appalled is he received this type of service at his own restaurant.
SAVE YOUR $$$$ for the slot machines!!!
Sincerely,
Palazzo...
