Ridiculously amateurish! Did you know that you can't bring large purses or tote bags, of the kind that tourists often have in their person with them in Las Vegas, into this theater? And they don't tell you that ahead of time, anywhere on their website -- or certainly NOT on their tickets that you buy to go to a show there?
And did you also know that The Venetian Theatre has NO established way to check your bags for you? Yes that is the case LOL. Even more awesome, if you show up at the front desk to check your bags (which some employees s suggested after some creative thinking), the front desk guest services employees have been instructed to tell you that they will not check bags for non-guests. So, great job management, clearly this has never happened to you before, during any of your hundreds of shows a year in the last 15 years that you've been around LOL. Only happened to us and the other guests that one night we tried to go to the one concert, that one time, once, in 2023. 😂 Well, first time for everything I guess.
Venetian managers sure have a great way of exposing their employees to confused and sometimes angry and frightened guests (like the other folks in our situation). Must be a great work environment in other ways too!
Oh, and another thing! We left the concert venue, we were being directed through the lobby of the theater, and we were looking to purchase some concert merch. Ya know, tee shirts and the like. But no--turns out we'd passed an invisible line in the ether. When we tried to walk back through the exiting crowd to get back to the merchandise line, a phalanx of employees (nicely) told us that we couldn't "return," we'd passed an invisible line, sorry no merch. Once again I tried (unsuccessfully) to reason with the employees, but a rule is a rule, and of course the workers don't make the dumb rules. I guess the venue is so profitable that they are allergic to more sales opportunities. Well maybe if I was a casino manager I might understand stuff better. But from my limited POV I guess it's two stars, one for the employees who tried to be nice despite dumb rules and poor management planning, and one for the venue itself, which was mostly clean and...
Read moreBefore you book compare the price of booking through IHG! YEP, they are affiliated somehow. Although this hotel is beyond beautiful, it really is! I need more than beauty. The casinos don't move me. Or the exquisite shopping. Being able to enter a beautiful suite, moves me, and to enjoy it FULLY ! Depending on your view. My view was of the PARKING LOT! So be sure to ask for a view. Being at the Venetian means no complimentary coffee pot, microwave or mini fridge. Why? Because they claim to be a full RESORT. Yet the bed was a slab of wood, depending on how much comfort you may need in a mattress. I asked how often they replace the mattress? No answer was provided. They did try to accommodate me. I was offered another suite, (although Mr. S or Mr. M didn't make it easy for me) the other bed was also hard. They gave me a crate like topper, which made a slight difference. I was also given a modest credit. No amount of money makes up for a lack of SLEEP! I was in excruciating pain from the agony of having to bare the old dated mattress, that was dressed up in nice linens. Speaking of linen, if you want your bedding changed you must request it. Some of the maids don't really clean either, they just don't. They vacuumed or did they? I brushed my teeth, I rinsed the sink so I thought... Only later to find cilantro leaves from my lunch. The long lines for entry were common. Some of the guest service staff were very offensive! They are very busy trying to get through the line. They want you to believe that self check in is the way to go. Guess what? You're still going to be in a line! Forget about an AARP discount because I didn't get one! I only went for a wedding. I wish I had listened to my inter voice and CANCELLED and stayed off the strip! The traffic was undescribable. It wasn't worth it. I'm truly disappointed, I'm so tired of paying for...
Read moreGorgeous, but disappointing. Checked in today and will be here all week for a conference. I will say this place in stunning. It's just a really beautiful place. Lots of shops and places to eat.
What I am very unhappy about is my room. I can't even see the sky. I look out my window, and I'm right in front of/behind a couple of solid walls. I guess if I press my face right up against the window and crane my neck just right, I can get a glimpse of the sky. Ugh.
Second, I generally like to connect my laptop to the TV just for a second screen when working, or watching a movie, whatever. Both TVs are mounted to the wall. The only one that has an accessible HDMI port is the one in the sunken living room. I can't find a way to change to that input as the TV is captive to the Lodgenet system. There is a channel 67 for HDMI2, but that HDMI port that I can access must not be HDMI2 as it doesn't detect any input on that port.
Third...and this is another big one for me....there is one 2 port power outlet on the wall over by the window. Not too bad if I want to use my laptop over by the table. I better have it charged if I want to use it over in the bed or on the couches. The end tables by the beds have one power outlet, but I had to move one of the end tables to get to it. Fortunately I travel with a travel power strip, so I can plug my laptop and phone charger into that. I tried the USB chargers in the alarm clock, but those don't fast charge my phone.
Last but not least, I really don't like the auto-billing "refreshment center." I'd hate to put in my own bottle of water in the fridge, only to knock something over in there and be charged for just moving it.
Sure, the room is nice and upscale, but I would really like a little more...
