Been trying to make it Gordon’s Fish and Chips since it opened, but every trip to Vegas ends up in a fail. I finally managed some alone time and made my way here for lunch.
Cute, straightforward ordering counter with space for maybe 10 people to sit inside on bar stools and perhaps another 6 or so outside. Fortunately, I found a little nook to myself inside as it was a cold and windy day.
Being a lover of fish & chips, I knew exactly what I was having, barely looked at the menu. I guess considering it’s Vegas and Gordon Ramsay, $21.99 is fair, but on the higher end of acceptable since it is basically a grab and go spot.
The fish was beautifully fried, mostly crisp on the outside, super moist and flaky inside. The taste was spot on, absolutely delicious, as were the fries (chips), really quite pleased with my selection, and was definitely worth the wait, oh and certainly a nice portion as well, I was stuffed.
My only 2 gripes if I had to nitpick would be the fish fell apart too easily, the batter while crisp was also pretty brittle, and since they only provide a fork (no knives), you’re forced to try and pick up every piece that completely falls apart and dissolves as you stab the fish, or of course hold the whole piece of fish in your hand, even though not recommended being piping hot out of the fryer! The other issue was while I loved the tartar sauce, I did not like the curry-mango at all (which was recommended), and when I tried to have it exchanged for something else I was refused, and said I could buy an extra sauce. That was somewhat disappointing.
Otherwise a great experience and would recommend giving it a try if you like this menu. I really wanted to try the sticky toffee shake, but I still had Shake Shack floating around in me from the night before, so hopefully on my next visit. Considering the portion, I was happy with just water to wash it down, which also didn’t take away from the taste of the...
Read moreWhile on holiday from the UK, and a few days into our vacation I was feeling a little home sick a craving some good old British fish and chips.
I have been stopping at the Bellagio, and found Gordon Ramsay's fish and chip is local. RESULT.
On first impression, a great look with the old red telephone box entrance doors along with a fire hydrant with the colours of the union jack. What more could I ask for. Fish and chips from a great British chef, who know what fish and chips is all about.
The staff were very friendly. The price, although more than you would expect to pay in a local chippy back home, is more than reasonable considering the location, menu, chef Ramsay etc. A really good and interesting choice of menu. Very generous portions.
I had ordered the 3 piece of cod, Natural Sea Salt Sprinkled chips with along with both Curry & Mango sauce and Gordon's Signature Tartar.
Although there are and positives to Gordon Ramsay Fish and Chips, unfortunately the food has been well below the standard I would expect. The cod was greasy, which left a very unpleasant taste. The sauces were very underwhelming, very bland, which did not add anything positive to the meal at all.
Having received my order there was no room inside or outside the premises to eat my fish and chips. There were numerous people taking up the already limited spaces provided for customer who had quite obviously not purchase from Gordon's fish and chips. This left me trying the eat my fish and chips holding my drink, fork and box. what a struggle this was. After a few mouthfuls of fish, I gave up trying and more due to the unpleasant taste ( i had to buy some ice cream from the shop opposite to help remove the taste left from the fish).
Although the chips were very good, cooked well and seasoned as I would expect.
This is the 1st time I have a experience at a Gordon Ramsay establishment, and I have unfortunate been left very...
Read moreI was excited for this place so maybe 3 stars is indicative of this (could have been 2).
We had sausage box, fish box, and the lobster shrimp box, with dirty 1 and 2.
They were fast, but the food was totally disappointing.
The fries had clumpy seasoning, and were a mixture of well cooked, undercooked, and very overcooked in all 3 boxes. Seasoning was tasty, and I’d recommend extra napkins
The lobster was decent, but the batter doesn’t hold well. The shrimp was perfect.
The sausage tasted like breakfast sausage. It’s served on a stick, so it makes sense it was just jimmy dean battered. Very underwhelming and the flavor was just wrong for the other flavors in the box
The fish was good and was the best of the 3.
Skip the tartar sauce it’s not easy dip into as it has the consistency of a paste.
The soda is a small cup, but it’s free so not sure what you’d expect there. They serve Pepsi not coke and so no Dr. pepper .. but the sparkling water from their dispenser was clean and untainted.
The cashier referred to the chips as fries which made me smile given the guy behind the brand and the name of the brand. (Maybe they just get tired of explaining chips are fries).
Cashier said Ramsay hadn’t been in since before the pandemic… I bet if he sent a secret shopper from the Hell’s Kitchen across the road they would be screaming about ‘standards’ and beside themselves on the amount of greasy paper towels a used in the process.
Staff was friendly and food was fast.
The seating isn’t convenient (maybe 10 people inside and another 6-10 outside)and there is nothing public nearby to stand or sit at.
Can’t wait for his visit to be televised .. very...
