My trip to the Tilted Kilt in Las Vegas was at first everything you would expect from any Tilted Kilt. Beautiful women, televisions galore, and a large selection of draft beer to choose from. I ordered the Fish Tacos while my friend ordered the Shepard's Pie, both were very tasteful and appetizing. At this point you're likely growing curious about the two star rating...allow me to explain.
There were two incidents that occurred which left me quite displeased and annoyed. The first of which was when my friend ordered the spring rolls as an appetizer that came with the meal. He explained to our server that he expected them to come as an appetizer (as per his request), not as a side to his meal and asked for the spring rolls to be removed from the bill and returned them to the kitchen.
While the ethics of this particular decision may be debatable the following is not. When the check came to the table the spring rolls were still on the bill. When I protested (I was the paying party) it was explained to me by our server that while they were on the bill, they had NOT been figured into the total price. Doing some quick math I learned that was not the case. Once our server observed that I was ready to dispute her claim she quickly took the bill and replaced it with one that had the spring rolls removed. While it's possible that this was unintentional it reeked of dishonesty and deceit and left me with a terrible taste in my mouth (no pun intended).
The second issue is the ridiculous price of the Guinness beer that I purchased. I was charged $11 for ONE beer. Compare this to the $12 long island ice tea that a nearby friend had purchased and you begin to understand how absurd such a price is. When I asked if I had unintentionally been charged for two my server informed me that the $11 was the correct price for one beer. She responded to the look of disbelief on my face with, "It's Vegas on the strip." and then promptly vanished.
While understanding the premium paid on certain activities in Vegas (e.g. entertainment venues, night clubs, and of course gambling) I do not understand why the price of Guinness would command such an increase simply because it was served in Las Vegas. Did the Guinness Brewery in Ireland raise the price of that particular keg because it was destined for Vegas??? I consider this to be unfair and unethical business practices and will NOT be returning to this location again.
As a control I called several other Tilted Kilt locations and asked for their price on a 20 oz Guinness. The results are:
$5.14 Killeen, TX $6.00 Phoenix, AZ $7.00 Long Beach, CA $5.50 Birmingham, AL
While noting that different areas of the country will experience price fluctuations based on demographics, employment class, neighborhood, and cost of living the price for a single glass of Guinness in Las Vegas is ludicrous. Here's hoping you find your "Irish Champagne" more reasonable than I did while...
Read moreWell I loved it. The host Amanda greeted me at the door and went outside to take a picture with me. Thank you so much for making my stay in Vegas a very pleasurable experience. I was also greeted by Alyssa you also in those me with another picture. I think both of you guys for offering me a wonderful experience. now onto the food I tried the mac and cheese with chicken and although it was pretty spicy it was actually pretty tasty as well. There is plenty of TVs surrounding me so I could catch all the games that we're going on. If you need a place with good lighting this would definitely be one you'd have to visit in the daytime. I visited at night time and it is extremely dimly-lit. However for two people on a date that's a great spot to hang out and not be noticed. All in all the place is pretty good it is a pub don't expect for Star service don't expect was it good I tried the mac and cheese with chicken and although it was pretty spicy it was actually pretty tasty as well there was plenty of TVs surrounding me so I could catch all the games that were going on if you need a place with good lighting this would definitely be one you'd have to visit in the daytime I visited at night time and it is extremely dim. Read moreI ate here one time during my Vegas trip. It was the middle of the afternoon and there were two servers, a bartender and 2 hostesses. All 5 girls were super friendly and beautiful. The food was good. The only reason this review is not 5 stars is the same reason I didn't go back a second time while I was in Vegas. And that is the manager on duty was a complete jerk. I had taken some pictures of the girls to document my trip to Vegas. I had asked all of them if it was okay to do so, and they all said yes. Right before I left the manager came up to me and told me I was not supposed to take pictures of the girls without HIS consent. And he said it in a very condescending way. All that did was lose them money. I was definitely planning to eat here w second time while in Vegas, but because of the manager being such a jerk to me I did not go back. So I went to Vegas again and wanted to try this place out again. Thankfully I did. I have now changed my rating to 5 stars. I do not know if that jerky manager is still there, but all the staff including the managers were super super friendly. This trip to Vegas I did go eat here twice. And both times were so much fun. I watched some sports, ate some good food, talked to some friendly pretty girls and a got a few pictures also. This manager even asked if I could send the pictures to them. I will definitely go back when in...
